I spent one night at the Marriott Sandalwood Executive Apartments on this trip to Beijing.if you are exclusively shopping on price, you will find less expensive Marriotts in Beijing. If you want plenty of space, the ability to spend time in different rooms, a huge bathroom, kitchen facilities and even a washer and dryer, this is the place for you. This isn't exactly s hotel room, it's a long stay facility that feels like home. Some apartments have balconies. They all have fully equipped kitchens with a round dining table Nd four chairs nearby. The lobby has a full service restaurant if you don't feel like cooking. The major plus is that it's like a home away from home. The staff is friendly. My iPhone cable stopped working. I told the front desk staff. They plugged my phone into their cables and I wad recharged by the time breakfast was over. They gave a great gym. It's big. They gave a children's activity/playroom. The staff seems to know all the guests. Are there negatives? It's more expensive than s traditional Marriott in Beijing. Because of the long term aspect of stats, you earn credit for one Marriott night after every three days you stay. It's location is off the beaten path, but I got here by subway. The subways in Beijing are modern, fast and cheap. If you are staying for several days and want to unpack and relax, this is s good place to stay.
First you need to know that almost no one speaks English, front desk or their restaurant. The dinner in their restaurant is quite bad. Room was not the way it's described on reservation and we couldn't get rollaway bed. We are staying in Marriott all over the world and as a Marriott members this is the worst experience we ever had. Manager and all Marriott management should come not here without announcement to check what is going on in afternoon here. No staff and totally unprepared, inexperienced and not trained people work in Marriott located in one of the biggest cities in the world. What a shame.
We stayed two nights at the Marriott Beijing Sandalwood Executive Apartments recently. This is our third visit. There's a lot to like. This isn't a hotel in the traditional sense of the word. It's a long stay property for executives. However,you can book short stays. Try imaging you had a friend, a senior executive who said: "I've got this great apartment in Beijing. You can stay there one your next trip." The building is a luxury apartment building that's about 20 stories. We had a one bedroom suite, complete with a dressing room, large bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped. It even has a washer/dryer! There's a resident's lounge and in house restaurant downstairs. Since it's s long stay place, there's a sense of calm throughout. Although there's always staff to help, there aren't any crowds coming of going. The staff seems to know everyone. They are very attentive. They have a great gym, much larger than other hotel gyms. Are there drawbacks? The location is in a residential area, so you need to plan on taking taxis out and back from the center of town. There's a metro stop a few blocks away. There are cheaper hotels in Beijing within the Marriott brand, but this is a different type of accommodation. Even the one bedroom apartments would be considered a very large suite in other hotels. We plan on returning.
It was a great stay with Marriott. I highly appreciate your good services . what's more,the hotel is so beautiful and room is so spacious . It looks like a suite room even the room i stayed was a deluxe one . I enjoyed it. The food are delicious and some of them was amazing,i like tuna salad very much. Most important thing is that the bed is so big and so soft that I don't want to get up .I would like to appreciate the front office manager Fiona here,she is very nice to every guest.and receptions kitty,Sophie ，two of them are very professional. Assistant front manager connie is very helpful,she helpled me a lot,even a small request she could do it very well.It's was a wonderful stay there ,the sandalwood Marriott executive apartments .I want to live there again if I come to Beijing again.
The Marriott Sandalwood Executive Apartments is designed as a long stay residential hotel, yet you can stay for a night or two just like at a traditional Marriott. We have stayed twice. We plan on returning. In the traditional hotel model, you book a traditional room and hope for an upgrade to a suite. Here, every one bedroom (or larger) unit is a suite by hotel standards. The rooms have a large bathroom with rainfall showers, tubs, everything you would expect. They have fully equipped kitchens, however they also have washer/dryers, an added benefit. On our next China vacation, we are planning to return mid trip, to be able to do laundry, reducing the amount of clothing we need to carry. There's an added benefit. The Marriott commercials, which play in a loop on tv channel one, talk about Executive Apartments and local knowledge regarding local community culture. This is true. We were asked if we wanted to visit a local apartment community, visit the sports and library facilities. We were asked if we wanted to visit a local park and see people doing tan chi and social dancing. We did both. Are there negatives? It's a little more expensive than other Beijing Marriots, yet you get more space. The location is outside the center of town. There's no Executive Lounge, although they have setup a beer garden in the warmer weather. However, it's a longer stay format, so you expect differences. We had a great time. We plan to come back.
Situated in the end of the line 1, the hotel is quite a long walk from the metro. The hotel is big, clean - the room is fantastic, we really like it. Not much around there for restaurant/supermarket. If you have a car, it is a good base otherwise please allows extra time to walk to the tube - or take the Batong then change will be less walk.
First Gripe - the room smelled of smoke. Very bad. We tried to air the room and only one of the 3 balcony doors would actually open. Smelled for the whole 4 days we were there. Outside air was not much better. Get used to poor air quality in Beijing anyway. AC did not work as they disable it when it is not summer. What are we paying for? Apartment with beautiful kitchen had no cutlery or crockery..at all - only a kettle and two cups! There were four of us staying here. The rooms were a little tired and dated but they would have been beautiful when new. WiFi was pretty average. There was a lot of space and it was overall very comfortable. Taxi trips to main tourist attractions were long (due to traffic) and relatively expensive but all under $20 AUD so that was OK. Most staff could speak basic English but we had a Fawlty towers situation going on in the dining room which kept us coming back. Their food is great! Breakfast was great and so was dinner. I would recommend this place ... but at a price. The local area was fascinating so worth a little exploration.
we have lived there for 2 weeks. My main concern was cooking and grocery, which was taken care at nearby store. Staff was very supportive on most of the stuff, but sometime clueless on basic things (like where to buy milk for my daughter). I feel some more things can be improved, such as number of cooking utensils or providing dish cleaning soap, which are very small items and being in executive apartment I expect them. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay but if I am coming next time then I would be exploring other executive apartments as well.
I am in Beijing about two weeks out of almost every month, and I recently started staying at the Sandalwood Marriott Executive Apartments while there. This is a full-service, residential facility with beautifully appointed apartments - hardwood floors, full modern kitchen, washer/dryer, marble baths, etc. - excellent service, a mini-mart if you want to cook on your own, and a great restaurant with free coffee 24-hours/day. It has a large, fully-equiped gym with a heated indoor pool. It is located in a quiet neighborhood near a beautiful park for running or walking, and is just minutes away from the entrance to the airport expressway. Terrific find, and I am here to stay :-}
I arrived late due to traffic jam. Receptionist Winnie waited and prepared well. I spent a week at the apartment with 6stars hotel service. Even the location is near to 5th ring, but easy to reach city centre.
