For its rating as a 4 star I would expect better! The room had quite a lot of stains on the carpet and the bathroom counter. The room was unbelievably hot and stuffy when we walked in. The floor became flooded with water from the shower. It really needed a deep clean with mould in the corners. We ordered a burger and a Pizza at 6.30pm. The pizza took 40 minutes to arrive and the burger came 15 mins later! Then 90 minutes after eating I was violently sick vomiting. The only real positive was that the concierge was excellent.
It is not the first time that we stayed in this hotel and we always felt very welcome. If you can, go for executive room - for a little extra you get access to executive floor with excellent breakfast and helpful staff. It is not the most luxurious hotel, but very good value for money , convenient both for Financial Street and city centre and, most importantly, excellent staff
Special mention to concierge Mr George Tang who went out of his way to assist us. It was my husband's birthday and Mr Tang surprised us with complimentary cake and fruit. Thank you for making our stay so special.
The hotel location is quite good close to most attractions in the city. Room costs are fairly high considering it is a little tired and the rooms are fairly tired as well. service was good and breakfast was ok too. Please upgrade and modernize the hotel and I will come back again.
I you are need to be in this part of Beijing, I'd recommend the Mecure. Clean, hospitable and excellent staff who care about their guests. And the food is very good, whether you are eating local or Western cuisine.
Very near the subway, 3 minutes walk and the line 2 is the best line for most of the atractions. The hutongs near the hotel were very interesting. We made 2 day trips bought from the hotel concierge and the trips were absolute worth the price. The internet connection was poor but Guess it's not to blame the hotel. The massage to be purchaced downstairs at the Spa was great.
Room was very tired, very dusty, service was terrible other than in the club room, the doorman was useless, the location was awesome in Xidan. Shopping and dining as well as the Metro very close, walked everywhere
Just checked out of room 916 after a 5 nights stay. Checked in was smooth by the former Rooms Division Manager who sadly, has since left. He was a real gentleman and spoke perfect english. Checked out was by a very sweet Ms Huo YingYing and she was really friendly and accomodating. I had breakfast at both the main restaurant and at the Executive Lounge. The services at the main dining is acceptable but the services at the Executive Lounge by Ms Angel was excellent. After the 1st breakfast service, Ms Angel remembered our preferences for coffee and eggs. Had the opportunity to speak to Mr Dennis Oldfield, a very approachable General Manager of the hotel and we had a understanding that he does inspire his staffs. The hotel even sent a birthday cake on the evening itself. That was a very nice touch. Housekeeping was consistent in keeping our room clean everyday. Room deco though dated was spacious in size. Location was superb with Xidan and Xuanwumen station flanking the left and right of the hotel. Will definitely recommend this hotel for its locality and staffs.
Not happy with the rooms. Dust and cockroaches. I sneezed for 5 days straight in the room. In the lobby, the porter just smirked and turned away smoking whilst my husband, with a walking stick, struggled with luggage. The breakfast was nice but hot water for tea was luke warm. One saving grace was Bonnie who helped us find a chemist.
We stayed here for about 10 days and found the hotel to be pretty good. The staff were quite helpful and some spoke English (at least enough to make the stay easy). There is a tour desk in the lobby that is staffed by very helpful sales people (and yes they are SALES people). The rooms were comfortable and clean and well maintained. We found that the restaurant was fairly well able to cover most breakfast desires (Western or Eastern). While we didn't lunch here, we did have 2 dinners and both were quite good.
