Well located. Friendly, effective, and efficient staff - incl. the senior Concierge staff, which was extremely helpful sorting out transport, restaurants etc during my stay. Excellent rooms: good size; excellent set-up; fantastic bed. Good restaurants, incl. for breakfast. Good bar. Very friendly staff there as well. Nothing more to say: simply excellent!
We have just returned from a 10 day stay at The Conrad, Beijing. This is a first class hotel with great facilities and well located for access across Beijing with the subway adjacent to the hotel. Above all the hotels standing is greatly enhanced by the wonderful staff. With every member of staff we encountered we were met with smiles and a real commitment to ensure that our stay was comfortable and that we wanted for nothing. This was exemplified by the staff in the Executive lounge. Here Haneka Goto the lounge manager was the perfect host, highly professional, courteous and accommodating. All the same qualities were clearly evident in the Executive lounge staff:- Ann, Betsy, Evin, Mandy,Gino and Naria. Thank you to all of them for making our stay so comfortable. A special thank you too, to Victor who looked after us each morning at breakfast. We would highly recommend this botel
First let me say that I like the location and some of the staff. Despite very poor management, some staff are trying their best but the management obvious drive to cut cost make it nearly impossible to provide guests with a pleasant experience... I am a life time diamond member and I frequently stay in Hilton properties around China and Asia (Japan, Korea, Singapore,HK). This is the worst !! I have stayed at this hotel probably over 250 nights since it opened and over a 100 nights last year alone... Being a diamond member, I was very much looking forward for Conrad to open in Beijing ( I love the Conrad Singapore) and at first, it was not great but acceptable. However, it has been downhill ever since. I am a frequent user of the executive lounge and this is by far the worst in China and Asia. Initially they tried to provide variety of food choice with a rolling 7 days menu for warm dishes and deserts. Now it looks like the chef only know how to do 2 or 3 deserts, pastries choices are been reduced in half and usually food stays from the 3pm setup (afternoon tea) all the way to not so much “happy hours”. As for warm dishes, well they don’t even try to pretend anymore. It is awful. I usually end up ordering room service and get it served in the lounge. Next step is take out food... Sometimes last year or late the year before, they replaced water choices such as Perrier/San Pellegrino in the lounge with local water (loashan). Now the funny part, one day I came to the lounge and noticed Perrier was back so I asked the then executive floor manager who told me confidentially that it was temporary because they were going through a Hilton inspection and sure enough after a few days it was back to Laoshan. As I said I have been to probably more than 10 properties around China and even today they offer imported sparkling and non sparkling water. Surely if they can manage within their budget to offer imported water when their rates are up to 50% lower then something is wrong with the Conrad Beijing supply chain. Earlier this year, when I came back the staff told me that a new GM at taken over. Let see if he can turn things around. My first suggestion is to replace the entire previous management team. This is one of the few hotel I have stayed where management is nowhere to be seen. Looks like they have an allergy to guest interaction. That’s a problem in hospitality industry. Honestly considering how much Conrad is paying theses expats to run the property they would save themselves a lot of cost by replacing them by highly motivated locals. Right now this hotel is barely better than a local Chinese 4 star. So if you have a choice stay away.
A great stay, but lacked the details required to make it the truly amazing stay that we expected. What you'd expect from high end hotel, a great welcome, access to the lounge, afternoon tea was a fantastic addition and not always included in other similar packages at other hotels, good range of food and drink on offer etc. The pool and jaccuzzi were large and there was a well equipped gym (we couldn't find the steam room / sauna, if indeed there was one). However, a few negatives which made the stay not quite as perfect as we'd like. Staying in the suite, we requested a 'bath' from the menu on a few occasions. The first time we'd not booked 24 hours in advance... the maid came, with the wrong bubble bath and left. On the second day (when we had booked in advance), the maid came, gave us the wrong bubble bath again and left. It was stated that the maid would come and actually run the bath for us, with the correctly chosen bubble bath. Again, another house keeping issue. We ordered a different type of pillow for my pregnant wife. On the first evening they said 'we'd requested it too late' and on the second evening they didn't arrive at all! Carpets throughout the hotel are a little bit grubby / dirty and need a good clean, especially the risen 'number 8-shaped swirls' in the hallways. Children in the lounge. Touching the open foods such as cheeses and fruits- but not taking them. This could be a parenting issue, however, I'd suggest there should be a 'no child policy' in the lounge. The turn down service on the second night of our stay was late. We'd requested them to come whilst we were eating, instead they arrived, awkwardly, when we were back in our room. We left our room to alleviate the awkwardness but they didn't move used coffee cups etc and just closed the curtains and made the bed. We were contacted just after 12pm on our final day to tell us it was time to check out. When we'd already requested late check out at 2pm upon our arrival. I know that these may seem like small gripes- and we were constantly reminded by staff throughout our stay that the hotel was very busy, however, I feel that when paying a premium price then your comfort and needs should be prioritised and catered for.
Five nights during Xmas. Upgraded to Exec lounge and thanks for being Hilton Gold. Excellent room on 27th floor. Good WiFi speed also and great view over the carriage way. Was well looked after by the ladies in the lounge daily for breakfast and snacks. Used the gym and was very functional. Didn’t see a steam or sauna but the pool was good. Metro stations to either side within 6/8 minutes walk. Sanlitun about 15 mins walk and eateries over the bridge. Checked out speedily and wished well for onward journey.
Beautifully large room. Well maintained and just makes you feel like you are at home. Beds are very comfortable. Large separate area for luggage and clothes. Both tub and shower room. Only downside is not close to food shopping and restaurants. So need to walk 10-12 minutes for that.
We are from Hong Kong and stayed for two nights from Jan 28th- 30th at Conrad, Beijing. Pros -Nice interior design, up to 5 star standard -very big and clean room, makes you feel like home (spacious bathroom & walk-in closet) -Extremely easy to get around, convenient location -Front desk warm welcome & very friendly attitude -Bellboy helped with luggage when got off the car -Nespresso machine, 4 bottles of water was very nice for the dry weather -Breakfast selection was great, delicious western style food; especially pancakes, fruits, omelette -Victor at the restaurant came to chat with us, provided with great service. There was no more chocolate sauce and he apologized and offered other choices for me. He is passionate for what he does and is a true hotelier! -At checkout, bellboy was very well groomed and professional, helped with luggage and seated us at the waiting area. Cons -no complimentary wifi when booked from tour agencies, mobile data signal was weak -no sanitary bag, no sugar for the coffee in room I will definitely recommend this hotel to others and choose to stay at Conrad in my future visits to Beijing because of the service, cleanliness, room size and location. I was extremely delighted that I have chosen to stay at your hotel. Thank you.
It feels very unfair rating this hotel 4 out of 5 because this is an exceptional hotel, however they failed badly on one single aspect for me that probably won't affect anyone else. On my first night I checked in at 1am after a long international flight - I was starving and when I tried to order room service I was told that the kitchen were closed for maintenance. I literally could get no food in the hotel, I didn't think this was acceptable for a Conrad. Other than that my stay was amazing. The room was great with absolutely nothing to fault. Breakfast were beautifully displayed (although no true crispy American bacon). The gym was great but lacked a squat rack. The swimming pool was a full 25 meters and the best I've ever used in a hotel. Location is not the most central but is only a few hundred meters from a subway which is trivial to navigate. The executive lounge has stunning views (only beated by the Conrad in Hong Kong, the riverside hilton in Bangkok and the Hilton in Borneo). Good pour your own drink in the executive lounge and nice snacks. I'd stay again. One other minor issue was the lobby bar only had about two of the 10 beers on the menu actually in stock.
Nice rooms with great views. The rooms are spacious, they all have coffee machines and a comfy lounge set where you can sit and enjoy the view from the windows. The pool and gym are both clean and quiet modern, a plus for the jacuzzi which is a great place to relax after a long day exploring Beijing. The breakfast is very good with an option to order from an al a carte menu as well. The only thing with the breakfast is that the juices are not freshly squeezed which you expect from a hotel on this type of standard. The hotel describes itself as a luxury hotel and it is a really good hotel but the only thing that it lacks is a bit more personalized service.
I do travel frequently to Beijing and so far Conrad is the only hotel where i did stay more than once. Reason is, among all the excellent service you may experience in this wonderful place, the staffs are truly professional!!! In Particular, Ms. Carla Retief. She is beautiful and professional with great personality as well and thanks to Carla, from now on Conrad will be the only place where i would stay whenever I were to visit Beijing. Without Carla, Conrad Beijing would not simply be as it is now. Fell in love with Carla, likewise with Conrad too.
