Great location, within walking distance of the Forbidden City. The lobby/check-in area was nice. Room was small and lighting was quite dim. Breakfast was buffet style with good Chinese and Western selections. Concierge was very helpful, helped us arranged a private car and driver for a day trip to the Great Wall at Mutianyu and the Summer Palace at a very reasonable price. If you will be out sight-seeing most of the day, this is definitely a practical and economical lodging option.

great location, very close to forbidden city. affordable price

This hotel is in a great location to see many sights as well in the center of the city. I stayed in a budget room and was very fine the Internet worked very well in my room. One CCTV English speaking TV world news station Chanel so, no HBO. Room very clean and quite as for the staff they were very helpful. I will stay here again.

It was difficult getting to the hotel because the taxi drivers didn't seem to recognize it.

this is my 2nd time stayed at same hotel.i will stay again if i am going back to beijing

All good except the internet not working in our room. The hotel gave us some food presents for the Chinese new year. Nice restaurant

The Hotel was very close to the Forbiden City, was a few blocks and you get there. You can also go by a taxi if you don`t want to walk. It takes several minutes to get to the entrance. Besides this the Hotel is in a quiet place and the room was confortable and very clean.

The location was great. Within walking distance, if you like to walk, of the Forbiddeen City, and the Drum and Bell Towers. Also around the corner were little resturantans and food stalls. The Hotel had a grreat free breakfast.

Hotel was a decent value. We would have been quite happy except for one thing--the beds were extremely hard. It was like sleeping on box springs without a mattress. Not sure who could be comfortable on those beds! But location was great (close to Forbidden City) and staff was helpful. If you like a firm bed...very firm, then you'll be happy.

The hotel is an easy walk or even easier rickshaw ride from the Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Tiananmen Square, and lots of quaint restaurants. The nearest subway stop is Dongsi. The room was quite small, but very clean and had free wi-fi. Tea and an electric kettle were provided. There was ample hot water. Breakfast was not included in the hotel price but was available for about US$6. The hotel offered a prompt laundry service and there is a no-commission foreign currency exchange office on-site which was very convenient. I highly recommend for anyone on a budget looking for reliable, clean accommodation on a quiet street that still manages to be in the heart of lots of action.

This hotel is at best below average. iI stayed here in August 2011, for three nights. I switched rooms the first night because of a flodded bathroom. Room number two had dirty carpeting and very poor lighting. Good location for public transport and had the ability of booking tours etc. in the hotel. The food was average. However, I would not stay here again..

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was very close to major attractions (Tiananmen, Forbidden City); the only problem was the massed tour groups who were virtually on the hotel steps every day! Otherwise, many attractions were within walking distance.

[...] By any standard, this is no more than a 2-star hotel. Filthy, stained carpets, mildew on the bathroom floor and in shower, outdated furniture and fixtures, no working phone or refrigerator (although the phone & fridge were fixed upon request). This was in an upgraded Executive room![...]

nice location and enviroment, lobby staff was so nice.

Such a dirty and nasty place. Did smell so bad, the room, I had to leave the window open. bath exhaust on and perhaps 3 hours later may smell better. Mattress in such bad shape, so hard, you'll sleep in coils not cushion left. Towels were old rags. Carpet so dirty true out the whole place and room, real bad. All stained.

It was a simple hotel, nothing special. I upgraded my room to the traditional room with King bed, view and small balcony which I never got. I got a double bed, no view, 1 window looking out to the walkway which I had to keep it closed. Basically, I was staying in a closed box. Room was clean and wasn't too bed. The location wasn't that great. On the map, it shows that it was closed to downtown but in fact, it is not. No restaurant close by and it's even a challenge for some taxi driver to find it. In general, it was a disappointing experience.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They also spoke English. The bellboys were nice enough to give us directions to stores and restaurants. Awesome little restaurant down the street- very cheap. Make sure you select nonsmoking when you book otherwise you may get one of the rooms that smell like cigarettes, but the staff was good about giving us a new nonsmoking room. My friends couldn't change theirs since there were no more left, but they were able to find some spray that got rid of the smell. The beds are VERY firm. Our rooms did not have a tub or shower stall. There was a curtain for the shower area and a drain in the floor by the toilet. Water spread everywhere after a shower and the pool of water almost reached our bathroom door. I had to use towels to mop it up so I did slip when I was at the sink and mirror. The maids were kind of hesitant about giving extra towels to my friend. I think they might have thought that there were extra people in our room or something.

The hotel is in a good location, close to some Sightseeing spots. The Forbidden City is just 10 min. walk away. People at the hotel are friendly and ready to help you with directions or anything else. The hotel is older, the rooms are small and ordinary but kept clean. It is a fair price for what they offer. Internet is also available, but not as wireless, as I first thought. You have to take your laptop with you. Overall, I would mostly recommend the hotel, for a 2-4 day trip, for those who are traveling the hole day or as backpackers. If you like more comfort, it is not a good choice.

This hotel was good for the price. It was clean and comfortable. The furniture was modern but the room a bit small since they stuffed too much nice furniture in it. No breakfast (but you can buy it). Free internet in the room. My only two complaint is the staff was not too friendly. When I checked out it was raining and I asked them to call a taxi for me. One referred me to another and the last told me to go to the street and hire one (which I did while raining). Another complaint is that it is located in a very poor area and there is not much there to see unless you walk a few city blocks to a better location or hire a cab. But, for the price and a short trip, it is ok.

This hotel is in a very convenient location. I am a walker, and the hotel is near the Forbidden City, Hou Hai, and Wangfujing Street. Even if you are not a walker, you can catch a cab very easily right outside of the hotel. The closest subway stop is about a 15 minute walk, but on my way there one day, I happened upon an early morning market full of people and fruits and vegetables. Anyway, the hotel. It has a safe in the room, a refrigerator, and cable television. However, it does not have satellite so you will only get one English channel, CCTV9. That's ok, because I didn't go to China to watch tv! However, after a long day of sightseeing and shopping, an alternative to CCTV9 would be nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially since I attempted to use my limited Chinese whenever possible. Also, there is a beautiful hutong right next to the hotel that has a few restaurants, a foot massage place, and some street vendors. Best of all, Jingshan Park is ONE BLOCK away and you can go there early in the morning and see people exercising, doing tai chi, and enjoying the view of the Forbidden City from above. If I had a ton of money sure I'd like to stay at a fancy hotel, but this place exceeded my expectations especially after reading some of the negative reviews. This hotel is fine for a single traveler or even a couple. Kids may not like the lack of tv channel choices. And the beds are hard, but having to adjust to the major time shift does not ever afford a restful sleep I suppose. Two thumbs up.
