South Gap Hotel

Perfect location

This hotel is perfectly located in the Gap. The room was a little rustic and could use some TLC, but I had heard that it was going to be renovated soon. I would definitely return. The South Gap is near several restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and convenience stores. Because of its location, you do hear music coming from the bars across the street until around 3 to 4 AM on most nights of the week, so it's not ideal if you're a light sleeper. We could also hear the music coming from the hotel restaurant below but it ended much earlier. The kitchen was basic, with a refrigerator/freezer, sink, hot plate, and small appliances, most that had seen better days. There were plenty of glasses, pots and plates that were in better shape. The mounted flat screen TV had cable and wifi worked fine in our room. The bathroom was small but serviceable. It's about a 10 minute walk to the public access point for Dover Beach, next to Infinity on the Beach. We found Dover to be a decent beach, but we had received recommendations from locals to go to Browne's Beach in Bridgetown. We found that it was a far superior beach in sand and water quality, but there really aren't any similar hotels on that beach so we were still happy to stay at the South Gap and travel to Browne's Beach. (We went to the Boatyard that for $40 Barbados currency per person, offers chairs and umbrellas, and some water activities, and the $40 is entirely redeemable for food and drinks at their restaurant/bar.) Overall, the South Gap was a great value with perhaps the best balcony views on the south side of the island. I would definitely go back, especially if it were renovated with better soundproofing.

Blue Horizon Hotel

Nice location. Close to all necessary amenities

Close to good dining, and the beach. Even if I didn't have a car, I could easily walk out to the main and catch a taxi or maxi. Fairly popular place, so was easy for my friends to find me. I would stay there again!

I honestly have nothing but great things to say. The staff was so pleasant and accommodating. They booked my island tour for me. Set me up with the greatest taxi driver Glen who I ended up using my whole trip. The bartenders were great and friendly. Amazing location, staff and overall experience.
