Unfortunately, complications begin with check-in. Their office is several blocks from the actual hotel. Block time to drag your luggage across cobblestone streets there and back before getting in. Despite having received approval to check in late, our key was misplaced by the staff, and we were left with a form implying that we owed $40 for late check-in. We found this not to be the case, but had to drop everything to walk to their office again. The hotel staircase's sewer smell is pretty awful. The room itself has been renovated and initially looks nice. However, electrical wires from a homemade extension cord beside and behind the bed were a little more than unnerving. The bathroom floor will be wet as the space is small with zero airflow. If you are not a small person, you will literally be stepping over the toilet to get to the shower. The location is ideal. Bottles being smashed by the restaurant next-door at 2:30 in the morning each night is not. I would classify this as an nicer, private hostel room with a full-size refrigerator and kitchen counter. If you don't mind grabbing your flip-flops before going into the bathroom, you'll enjoy walking right out the door to the subway less than five minutes away.
Stayed here for 5 days at the start of July. Took a good while to find the place, as its down a rather dodgy looking alley behind the Santa Maria del Mar and there are no signs. Had to call the company several times for directions and then the door code to get in, as the one they had emailed us on the day was WRONG! Luckily another guest heard us trying to open the door and let us in. We called them again and were luckily given the correct code. Decent apartment and had all the basics you needed. Not luxury, but the kitchen was well equipped and the room itself was nice enough. Bathroom was on the small side, but had a hairdryer and we just about managed. Free wifi was provided. They ask for a €250 deposit on arrival in case of damage, which is rather annoying, but understandable. The area of El Ravel itself is lovely! The location is right in the middle and there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. It's also about a 10/15 minute walk from the Barri Gótic area and the metro stations, making it very easy to get around the city. To the south is the Barcelonetta region and this is similarly about a 15 minute walk. Couldn't have asked for a better location and the apartments are cheap and do the job. Would definitely consider staying here again, now we know how to find it!
Liked this apartment a lot. Its a nice cosy apartment in a great location. All the facilities you need are there. The only real negative is that the check-in was somewhat convoluted where you have to check-in at another location (that wasn't that easy to find), and then its not obvious where the actual apartment is (or where the entrance is from the alleyway). Getting into the building the first time is also complicated with various codes and keys, but once in its fine. Overall would recommend though.
The photos shown on the webpage are professionally done with much additional lighting. The reality is much darker and not all the lights even work. The apartment did not smell but the photos cannot show the really bad (sewer type) odor upon entering the small foyer. They cannot show the surprise 250 Euro deposit demanded. They can't show that the renter must sweep the floors before leaving under threat of losing their deposit. The photos cannot show how dark and dank the walkway is into this 'street' (alley) nor the smell from the constant presence of dog urine. (Yes, even though the street cleaners wash the street each night by 9am it already smells bad.) The photos do not show that there is not a single sign on the building indicating whom to call (if one is lucky enough to have a phone that works in Spain) nor that it is indeed even a rental unit. We relied on the kindness of a German traveler who loaned us his phone to talk to the rude people that told us how to get in to get our key. They cannot show the surprise at seeing this listed as having a bar lounge on another website. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no one even there. Just a voice from Oz on the initial phone call and then a demanding email for our credit card number with a threat to lock us out (really??!!) if we didn't provide it. Nor can it show the lovely plastic laundry bag with instructions for having your laundry done. How? No one came by or called or checked on us. We would have no idea of what to do in case of fire or calamity.
We must have rambled around Barcelona for the guts of an hour trying to find this place! It was down a side road and was really difficult to find, the reception is nowhere near the apartment itself... when we got there, the apartment was fantastic, the balcony was huge! It is a typical studio apartment, inside isn't that big and it's a reasonable price. The location was pretty decent, the apartments are located right beside Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, and there are quite a few cafes/restaurants around. There was a really nice restaurant directly across the lane, called La Reina, which is worth checking out.
The bathroom is the smallest I've ever seen with the shower at one end with the toilet in front of where you get out and no where to stand when you dry yourself, everytime you have to jump over the toilet to get out of the shower. Stayed in room 402 the apartments were in a great location but really hard to find as the hotel staff for specific directions. The address is no use! Great location once settled in great resturants in the area and amazing nightlife. good value for money but they could give the appartment a good thorough clean the apartment was mouldy but acceptable.

the studio was clean and modern
The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because location to get to the apartment was secluded, in an alley and it was not well lit around especially coming in late. I would recommend arrive early and bring a bottle of alcohol to leave in the room while you venture out. Then come back before it gets too late
old town apartment
This was very difficult to find then we had to go 20 mins walking with luggage to office. No signage and just luck we found both places. Then walk back. Was in a very old creepy back street. Directions need to be a bit clearer for non Spanish speakers. I helped a young couple who'd come off a long flight & been wandering for 2 hours trying to find the short stay local. I had asked for 2 beds & ended up with a double & fold out seat that was like a brick with a bar across my back. 3 nights in that was not good. It is hard to book twin rooms.
complicated apartment entry
Make sure that you ask clear instruction on how to access the apartment prior to arrival. The taxi driver dropped us off without knowing exactly where our apt was but pointed in some general direction. It was nice that it was in the middle of all the shops and restaurants but the walk to the apartments was very stinky. We could not find the apartment as it was not clearly marked. No one could give us a clue as to where this apartment was located until we got the attention of a shop owner. Although he was not sure about the address he seemed to recall people entering and leaving from the apartment around the corner from his shop. Then we weren't sure how to get into the building so he phoned the number that I had to the apt. He said the instructions were unclear but we managed to get in through trial and error. He was so helpful. The entry way smelled horrible. After we returned from touring the city, we were locked out with all of our belongings inside the apt. because they changed the locks on us. When we called the number again, the attendant stated that they needed a credit card on file. I did not understand why, since we paid in full. After, I put a credit card on file we reentered the building. Thank goodness we were in a great city, otherwise the apt would have ruined our final days in Spain.
