After traveling from US to Barcelona all night, we arrived at hotel. This is not our first foreign travel experience. We have had many. I KNEW there would not be a room available and all I prefaced my comment with that very sentence and simply asked if one became available prior to 3 pm checkin that we be allowed to check in earlier. The staff person coldly explained to me that it was not the hotel policy and we would not be getting a room any earlier than the designated time. So I sat in the lobby and wrote a rather curt email to their reception desk about their tone towards us, Shorten story is that they did provide a room for us earlier. They are probably still laughing as the Air Condition did not work and when I went to take a show in the evening, there was no hot water. At check in we were told breakfast was at 7 am. We had two early morning tours and were happy that we would be able to get breakfast and coffee prior to our tours, HOWEVER, when we went downstairs the next morning, breakfast wasn't ready as it was a "holiday" and did not start until 8 am. Too late for us to eat and since we were not aware of the time change, not enough time to get breakfast elsewhere. Plus, I thought I had read that they would provide a "take along" in cases such as this. However, NO ONE OFFERED any minor solution to this issue, The other concern was that we were there because our granddaughter was enrolled in an intensive Summer Ballet program. She is 14. On her floor someone was smoking marijuana. The entire floor was clouded in the smell. My husband asked the front desk if it was "level" in Barcelona and was told no and that they KNEW who was smoking it and did he want them to contact the room. To which he said no. What should he say ? But they allowed it. In a hotel where a lot of young dancers were living for three weeks! We left a few days later and went to Poland... see my reviews on Metropolitant Boutique Hotel. A wonderful hotel that MADE our vacation. After that stay we returned to Villimari for one night to say goodbye to our granddaughter. The Front desk remembered us, gave us the same room. My husband didn't want it but I said that it was for one night. Once again, NO air and the bathroom smelled as though there was a plumbing explosion and the stint was unbearable. We asked to be moved.
The hotel is conveniently located to Plaza Catalunya and is walking distance from the metro station and the Aerobus drop off and pick up points. The hotel staff is extremely welcoming and helpful - especially Ivan who took the time to graciously orient us to the area. The rooms are small but clean and modern. The wifi wasn't great but we didn't spend enough time in the room to really miss it. Shower and amenities were good but do be careful with flooding the bathroom when using the shower. FYI, there aren't safes in the room but you can use the one located in their lobby.
This hotel was perfect for my family. We got the family room which was 2 connecting rooms. It was a good size and very clean. We were on the 5th floor and facing the back into a large courtyard with the other buildings on the block. It was super quiet. We were in Barcelona in August which was crazy hot and humid so luckily the air conditioning was working well and was quiet. The only problem was that I forgot to ask for a non-smoking room so our room had a smell. It started to fade by the second day but the air conditioning / air circulation system must be connected to other rooms because the smell of smoke eventually was back again. So make sure you ask for a non-smoking room. The best thing about this hotel is that they provide free water. There is a small fridge in the room stocked with water that they replenish in the afternoon and in the evenings. Very generous of them!! Like I said, it was crazy hot when we were there so the water really helped! The breakfast in the morning was very good with several pastries, meats and fruits. Not a lot of hot food other than bacon and sausages. The location is great with lots small grocery stores and restaurants around. Lolita Taperia was a great find which is Michelin mentioned and only about a 10 min walk. There is a wonderful tiny coffee shop around the corner with amazing pastries. Fabien Restaurant is also very good for lunch. It is 2 blocks from the metro, the Arenas shopping mall and a short walk to the magic fountain, the National Art Gallery and Montjuic Park. The staff is incredibly helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
I went to this hotel twice, once for pleasure and the second time for work. Very nice hotel, nice breakfast and close to the underground. I'm not giving a 5 star just because the first time I went, we got a room with an internal view faced to the lifts, so we couldn't open the windows, without being watched.
Great for families, very good breakfast served until later than most hotels. kind and very helpful staff. Very good location. Stayed for 7 nights with 2 children in a family room and loved it. Totally recommend it.
Hotel Vilamari is well located near Place Espana. Can walk to Ramblas or take the Metro. Good restaurants within 5 minutes, and nice café and grocery store across the street. Desk staff very helpful with directions and storing luggage after check out. Easy walk to car rentals and train station. Room was clean, good size and nice amenities. The staff were very helpful with a change to our reservation and the price for our room was very reasonable. The hotel is a boutique hotel with a nice restaurant.
The hotel is in a good location. It is close to public transport. We used the metro system when travelling around Barcelona and used the bus to and from the airport. The hotel is in a quiet location and within walking distance of Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. The hotel itself was very clean and had a professional look about it. The room was tidy and the service provided by the hotel staff was fantastic; especially from Santiago who went above and beyond just so we could have our boarding passes printed. The ladies had a vast amount of knowledge about the area, the transport system and what kind of things were good to do. We brought the hop on hop off tickets from the hotel which allowed us to see where everything was around Barcelona. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Comfortable boutique hotel. We'll positioned for metro and bus just 5 min away. Plenty of places to eat within 5 to 10 mins walk. Magic fountain just 5 min walk. Hotel staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful. Bed was comfortable, room clean. Only thing missing was maybe some drawers to let us unpack from our cases.
The hotel location is great. 5 min walk from placa espanya which is the point for tourist hop of hop off buses, aerobus , metro etc. The hotel also has 3 to 4 supermarkets in a 2 min walking range so very easy to get water and any other supplies. There is a coffee shop across the road if you want to grab a coffee and breakfast or a snack anytime and the jotel itself also has a bar and coffee shop which very convenient. They provide 4 small bottles of water, free, which was very welcome Now the rooms. Well for Spain it was great the A.C. and wi fi were working great in the room which was not my experience in many other hotels I stayed across Spain The room is small for sure but not uncomfortable. What I did not like is if you mean and sit up on the bed against the wall ..the whole bed slides ..very annoying specifically because there is just 1 chair on the room and the bed is where you would sit even if u wanted to for a few min. The bathroom was clean. Toiletries provided. My room passage started dripping water from the ceiling and I complained and they were very efficient in fixing it. Also the staff is really helpful and very well spoken in English. Even though the check in time is 3 pm you can leave your bags in storage if you arrive early and they keep it for you. I think overall it was a nice choice of hotel.
This was a very nice hotel for our group of 12 people. Our check-in process was efficient and friendly. The room and bed were both comfortable. The room provides a counter with television and desk area and a small closet. There was a refrigerator with four bottles of water (no charge). The bathroom has a basin on a small counter with a variety of provided amenities (toothbrush, comb, etc.). The tub/shower has a glass door that covers only half of the opening, so it was hard to keep water from running onto the floor during a shower. The shower drained very slowly, but the water pressure was strong and the temperature stayed consistent. The free WiFi service in the room and the lobby was strong and reliable. We found only one electrical outlet in the room and one in the bathroom for charging electronics, but we carry our own plug strip so it was no problem. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would be glad to return in the future.
