Hotel El Castell

Some of the staff were genuinely friendly and others should not be in the service industry. The facility is gorgeous, only needs mild up-keeping. Definitely not as close to the Barcelona city centre as I hoped. But, being up on the hill, those views we're breathtaking. They have a nice little bar with a variety of delicious beers. The Sant Boi village war the hotel is interesting. Overall, for the price... I give it 2 thumbs up

Overall this hotel is a 3, okay at best. I stayed here for one night before and after my cruise. If it's only for one night I would stay again, otherwise I don't think it's for staying longer.

It's a little hard to get too, but It has a lot of history and they have done a great effort to keep it updated

It's a nice and quite place, there are some distance between it and the subway station, it's on a heel. It takes about 10 mins walk.

We enjoy stay in the hotel, good breakfast and bar,

Not recommend for those come Barcelona for a short vacation, far from city and very old not tidy to stay

Nice hotel, ok staff. Way too far from everything and nothing is open on Sunday.

This hotel is not too close to the airport or the city, but is one of the most peaceful locations you can ever look for; dripping in history (its terraces go back 1000+ years!) and free parking, us the perfect place to stay.

From the moment we arrived the staff were superb. The location was great, overlooking San Boi with Barcelona in the dista, nice. Simple access by train to Barcelona at very reasonable rates. For a couple of nights this is a most relaxing place to stay yet you have access to a night club, swimming pool and beautiful grounds with a quaint town a few blocks down the hill. You have to go to appreciate it.

Hotel was clean and good value for price. A little out of the way but has easy access to train and metro system for travel into Barcelona. But be prepared for steep climb up hill when returning. Most of staff was friendly and willing to help with directions and hailing taxi. If looking for airport shuttle, will not pick up at airport and charge per person and bag to take to airport on departure.

We paid $111 for a standard room on our last vacation day before our flight at BCN. Pictures on the web looked good: nice room, swimming pool, terrace overlooking the city. The room was small and literally falling apart. Mold was all around the bathroom. We ask for another room, which looked exactly the same. Not a good plan, even for a quick stop before an early flight from the airport.

We booked one night to be close to the airport after spending the week with a friend on the beach about an hour west of Barcelona. Staff described it's location as about a 10 minute walk from the Sant Boi Metro stop. They don't say it's all uphill. We found it more comfortable to take a 10 minute 4 euro taxi ride. The shuttle to the airport cost 16 euros. The hotel claims to be in a castle dating to the 9th century. It is located at the top of a hill in a quiet spot away from freeways and other traffic noise, with great views of the surrounding valley. It is undergoing an extensive upgrade, but our area was in a finished section, unaffected by ongoing changes. Our room opened onto a roof top terrace. The floor was uncarpeted, but it was clean, and for the price of a double, we had a comfortable king size bed, excellent water pressure in a small but modern bathroom with a soaking tub and shower. Bath and hand towels were provided, but apparently it is a European custom not to offer wash cloths. Air condioning and heat were provided by a quiet, unobtrusive, modern dual Mitsubishi wall mounted unit , adjustable by a hand held remote control. Restaurants and bars served excellent food and drinks.

Hotel is in Sant Boi which is a good location to get to the city by public transportation. The hotel has parking which is convenient and you can walk to town where there are many restaurants to choose from. Good value and very nice hotel with beautiful outdoor and pool.
