This hotel is located far away from the city center. The interior is ok but it could use a refresh, especially bathrooms. The plus of location of this hotel is that it is close to the airport plus the area is cool and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast are quite ok.
The hotel itself was modern and clean.the room was spacious and very comfortable. The area the hotel was in though had nothing there. No proper shops and restaurants were very limited. We only found 1 pizzeria place and rest were tapas bars. We opted for the breakfast at hotel as got told they did everything. This cost €16 each adult. It was pants. Not much of a hot selection at all!! Food was luke warm - certainly not worth the €16. Hubby didn't even have anything on the second morning so was a waste of my money. The hotel is great if your stopping for a night or 2 but wouldn't stop any longer, specially without transport.
The Novotel Sant Joan Desai is located around 20 minutes from the center of Barcelona. Is good located for a business stay. The rooms are clean and have enough space. The staff is very friendly, helpful and international.
No frills hotel with all basic amenities covered for short stay travellers with business objective. The staff is polite and helpful. They go out-of-way for making you comfortable and can handle large inflow of people with very decent manner. They deserve appreciation for the hard work that they put in. The breakfast spread isn't very impressive but whatever is prepared is quite fine. Room cleanness is satisfactorily maintained and Wifi speed/connectivity is good. The in-house hotel toiletries are better than standard quality. What impresses most is the front desk staff who are really helpful and forthcoming. From helping us navigate the city with maps to the explanation of the essence of different things in Barcelona - they did their jobs well!
Very disappointed as the pool is not in use , due to maintenance issues, staff couldn't let us know when this will be open ; we only staying in Barcelona for a few days, if they had been informed us on the website this is not functional we would be booked somewhere else as this is one of the main reason we decided to come here!! I asked if we could use the pool from a different Novotel branch and we have been refused!!
Need to be in this region for meetings. The hotel is not near the center. The staff is nice and welcomming, however, I paid very high price above the 230Euro (lowest could find). The rooms are very simple. carpet not clean. The room I got is almost the simplest room I got in low price hotel. Shower is very minimal and simple. This I did not think I will get get for such price. Not mentioning that price does not include breakfast. Price includes WiFi.
Staff - lovely and very helpful. Location - excellent as close to airport and a bus or tram ride away which is cheapest option. Taxi fares should not exceed 30 euros from hotel to airport. We spent 4 days and bought a T10 tickets and with help of hotel staff navigated most of the main sites of Barcelona via this. As it is also away from hustle bustle of main La Ramblas more relaxing. Locally walked around felt safe and an excellent pizzeria where food was delicious. Food at hotel - breakfast to suits needs for all and open from 6.30-10.00. Fresh and topped up. Nice bar but usual hotel prices. They offer a menu with limited choice but excellent price. Things to do at hotel - kids loved trampolining and swimming as well as ping-pong which allows adults to sit at side of pool or shaded areas and grass areas to enjoy a book or sunbathe. Pool has an attendant. I would recommend staying at hotel. Clean and excellent staff who deal with issues quickly. Wi-Fi access brilliant. Nearby petrol station and supermarket to get items as well.
Loved this place, staff were super helpful, bar and restaurant were lovely and the pool was an excellent bonus. Some of the areas of the hotel were a little tired but for the price the location was excellent and the facilities also.
We booked through a travel agent who recommended the Novotel Barcelona City, which sounded ideal, nice and close to everything we wanted. But no, the idiotic woman booked us into this Novotel instead, which is miles and miles away. We complained and asked for the Hotel to be changed, but to no avail, Novotel Sant Joan Despi, were adamant that they would not refund/change booking. So off we went, not especially looking forward to our weeks stay in Barcelona, as we were staying so far away, but actually it was all good!! The Hotel itself is quite nice, clean and well laid out, our room was OK, nothing special but adequate. AC worked, we had kettle and the occasional coffee or tea portion, I had read on TA about miserly housekeeping, so took some tea bags, but what made me laugh (but not especially in a good way) were the "cups" we were given to drink our hot drinks in, cardboard takeaway cups!!! Come on, this is a Hotel not a takeaway coffee shop. Also the "glasses" in the room were thin, thin plastic and once used were never replaced. The pool is OK, not enough sun beds (which look nothing like the ones on Hotel's website, they are cracked plastic and quite awful), if there are several people there, though if needed, a towel on the grass would do (there are clean pool towels at the pool side), we did use the pool a couple of times for a few hours, but were out and about mostly. There is a nice bar and Restaurant in the Hotel, we only ate there once for lunch, and as pleasant as it was it is overpriced and not enough choice if you just want a snack. They could do with selling Panini's, or sandwiches etc, not everyone wants a big meal at lunch, as nice as the food was. We didn't have breakfast here, so I can't comment on that, but we bought cold meats, cheese and pastry's which we kept in the fridge in the room, and had that as we were getting ready to go out for the day. It was far easier to get into Barcelona than 1st thought, leave Hotel, turn left, then left again (this is where you will find the little garage shop too), cross the road and turn right, walk a little way past the back of the Hospital, and you will see the tram stop just passed the roundabout, you will also see the big supermarket. The transport system in Barcelona is 2nd to none, the trams and Metro, run in harmony, we would get the tram, then the Metro within minutes of each other, and get into Barcelona, usually within 30-45 minutes. Considering this booking was made in error, and it was not what we wanted, it actually worked out OK, we liked going to the University area, choice of Restaurants and loads of shops, and from there its a great walk down Avenue Diagonal into the City. We have stayed in Barcelona before, and now feel we have a better understanding of the place. I am going again in 4weeks time with some of my family, and even though there have been these awful terrorist attacks, it will not deter us, Barcelona is a vibrant, beautiful City. One last thing, we checked into the Hotel on a Friday and the staff were wearing T Shirts that said something like, smile it's Friday, I don't think some of the reception staff quite got what that meant!! Would we stay there again? Yes we would, although I wish the Hotel had balcony's (but you cant have it all)!
On a 9 day city break with an 11 yo and a 15yo who enjoy strolling, city sights, a pool and a beach. This is a great venue. Don't be put off by the map distance into the centre. Facilities ( bars and restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket, tram) are all nearby. The tram is a 5 minute stroll from the hotel, is very regular and it takes 15 mins (about 7-8 stops, one of which is VERY CLOSE to Camp Nou, the Barcelona Football ground) to get to the stop where you can jump onto the Metro - a further 15-20mins (about 7-8 stops) into the city, placing you at the bottom of the approach to The Magic Fountains. The city is really accessible by metro. Most places are located close together so if you use the metro wisely you only need to get off once and can walk to most places easily. We went into the city by midday and didn't come back again until 10/11pm most nights. The hotel itself is clean, friendly helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is fine. Pool is a bonus. On the days we came back mid afternoon for a dip we found the local restaurants very reasonable and are again a short 2 min stroll from the hotel.
