Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel

4.5 out of 5.0

Having attended a conference here a few times previously, this time I decided to stay near the Fira and was delighted by the Renaissance. OK it was a ten minute walk from the entrance to our event, but if you're stuck inside all day then the fresh air and short walk is very much worth it. The hotel itself is very contemporary - with either "black" or "white" rooms. Have a look at the pictures to get an idea... My room was a black corner room and a good size by Barcelona standards with a view across to the hills rather than the sea and port. It took a while to work out the light switches and those for the blind. Walk in rain shower was great for waking me up after a late night. We loved the rooftop bar and pool where drinks were not overpriced give the great view. Review would have been 5 stars if the clock radio had been working and the shampoo hadn't disappeared on second morning, thought a note to the maid resolved this by time I returned. And the breakfast was about as a good as you get in a hotel of this style and price band - combined with a great view from half way up the tower. The alternative is to stay downtown and spend time in taxi morning and evening to get to and from conference. Late at night after dinner, the taxi ride back is very quick so it worked for me this trip.

Lovely hotel with picturesque views over the city. Pleasant, friendly staff. Modern / quirky interior, stylish rooms. Tube station very near with a direct line to airport. Great choice of food at breakfast buffet.

We had an amazing time at the hotel, from the complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite with panoramic views of Barcelona, we could see everything. to the high quality of service we received. The roof top was so amazing with the pool and the breakfast was so yum

My wife and I stayed 6 night in early September 2017, joined by daughter and son-in-law for three days. Although outside central Barcelona (near convention center), Renaissance Barcelona Fira is steps away from the Metro and minutes away from anywhere you want to be. Friendly, helpful staff. Small but comfortable roof-top pool deck and bar, trendy stylish decor, 26-story vertical garden make for welcoming environment. Lush vegetation surrounds the 14th floor restaurant with excellent service and upscale representations of local dishes. As you might expect in Barcelona, fish dishes are great, but meats also are fresh, local, and arrive in large portions at reasonable prices. After a long day of trekking to tourist attractions and walks through colorful neighborhoods, we returned to the hotel for dinner a couple of nights - it was that good. As noted in other reviews, room decor and openness of tub/shower might seem off-putting but turns out to be invigorating. NOTE: ALL windows in guest rooms are cut into the wall in the shape of palm treetops.

This is a great location for both business and pleasure. It's a short ride from the airport and still close enough to the main attractions, with a metro station a few metres away. Staff are extremely friendly. Rooms are modern. Bed is very comfortable. Shower is piping hot. Internet is excellent. Breakfast was good. All in all, a great stay. So why not 5? Well, you may not like the design of the hotel.

Overall: The hotel's location was great. Not too far from the key tourist sites, but also just far enough to escape the noise and hustle of the downtown area. The rooms left alot to be desired. Although the hotel itself was beautiful, the bare minimum approach to the rooms was somewhat disappointing. The walls were also fairly thin, which could present an issue if you have loud neighbors. Pros: This hotel has an amazing location in regards to proximity to the metro system (literally less than a 1 minute walk from hotel entrance). The hotel's stop is Europa/Fira. This is great as it is only a few stops from the airport. The ride to get to Las Ramblas is about 20 mins. The design of the hotel was also very nice. Loved the outdoor airy feeling. The rooftop provides AMAZING views of Barcelona. Although distant, you can view the Sagrada Familia and other notable sites. The rooftop is fairy small so deck chairs fill up fairly quickly. Staff was very attentive and welcoming upon check-in. Also everyone at the rooftop bar and restaurant were pleasant and accommodating to requests. Cons: The rooms take a very minimalist approach. The bare stark white walls were not necessarily my aesthetic but seemed cheap. The walls were very thin, so if your neighbors are noisy, be prepared to hear them. Food options were somewhat limited. Although the hotel has a restaurant that offers room service and poolside service, the menu is very very limited. Although we ate at the restaurant nearly everyday, that was out of lack of options in the surrounding area.

I arrived at this hotel after midnight, via public transportation. There is a bus from the airport that travels past this hotel. It stops right across the street...easy access...the cost was €2:50. I spotted the hotel from the bus, because of its distinctive and unique architecture. The lobby is large, with a bar to the right and reception to the left. Check in was quick, due to the efficiency of the staff. I loved my room. It was large and white. The design of the window was unique, and provides a panoramic view of the city. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom is great - spa-like. For me, a bathroom, makes and break a hotel. This bathroom was fabulous. The rain-shower was relaxing, which added to the relaxing sleep I had each night. The room is high tech...one press of a button, your blinds open and close. I must admit, it took me two days to learn how to use the switches, not realizing the instructions were on the side table...but in fairness to me, I slept on the opposite side. I like the personalized welcome page on the television. This must be a Renaissance/Marriott practice, as the Renaissance in Malmo, Sweden and Marriott in Brussels does the same. I like not having to insert your room card, hence no searching in my bag for the card. Simply placing my bag on the sensor, unlocks the door. My room was impeccably cleaned daily and everything(shopping bags/suitcases) neatly set in one place. I had no complaints about housekeeping, whatsoever. The cleaning staff did a great job. The breakfast buffet is worth the price. I especially enjoyed the smoothies at the hostess' station, outside the elevator. Each morning I had an egg white omelette, which was delicious. The chef was not only skillful at making the perfect omelette, she was quick. service was impeccable. Staff were constantly clearing the tables. The pastries were super delicious. I ate dinner at the restaurant most nights. The maitre d' was very professional and friendly. He also had a good memory, as he remembered what my friends and I had, and would recommend based on what we chose to eat the night before. My friends did not stay at the hotel, but wished they had, so the closest thing to staying there was dining there each night. Overall, the restaurant staff, were professional, courteous and efficient. I loved the rooftop bar...the view is breathtaking especially at nights. During the day, you can see the Olympic stadium. The bartender was great at mixing drinks and conversations. The interior and exterior of this hotel is distinctive. I love the greenery on the inside on each floor. The almost open staircase and trees/plants adds to distinctiveness of the hotel. To me, the greenery makes it environmentally friendly. I had a corner room on the 19th floor and I loved it. Although I am not particularly comfortable with heights, I enjoyed the views, looking down and up at each floor. During my stay the hotel was quiet...I had no disturbances. The location of the room is very close to the elevator, and unlike some hotels, I did not hear chattering of guests entering or leaving the elevator. Neither did I hear the guest next door to me. What makes this hotel unique and distinctive is that the rooms are on the outside, while the trees/greenery, staircase and elevators are on the inside. There are additional elevators and stairs that are that provides a view of the outside. Check out was as quick and effortless as checking in. The staff at reception and security were friendly and helpful. Although my friends were not staying at the hotel, each night, the security or front desk staff telephoned for a taxi to take them to their hotel. Overall, the staff at the Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, were courteous, professional, helpful and efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would return, without hesitation.

We loved this hotel! The view from our room on the 24th floor and the rooftop bar was amazing. The rooms were sleek and stylish. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices and was a perfect start to the day. The hotel is right next to the metro, which made it easy to get to the historic sites and buildings.

Very nice hotel. Room are clean and original. You have two types of rooms: one competely black and the other one competely white!! Breakfast was good. It has a rooftop and a swimming pool. Professional and friednly staff.

I wanted to give 4 stars but couldn't as the hotel was everything I expected. The staff was nice and room service was great. My only complaint is that after 8pm or so getting a taxi is very difficult. The location of this hotel is in a quite part of the city but you have a metro stop right outside of the hotel. There is a mall nearby which is cool and you are a short 10 min ride to the airport with no traffic. The rooms are fabulous and you cannot go visit the rooftop pool. Will stay here next time I am in barca for a night or two before heading into the city
