Right on markt, we paid for an upgraded Comfort room which was very spacious. A little stuffy because no air conditioning is considered necessary in this coastal climate. However, church bells ring all night. Package bathroom small and triangular shower stall smaller. Exceptionally nice breakfast room, actually full-sized hotel restaurant with large buffet and many choices. Note that despite the name of the hotel, it is in Wismar and not in Hamburg. Good restaurant suggestions from friendly desk clerk. We parked on the street for free overnight, had to move car to a "meter" by 9AM, but only had to buy parking ticket once before our 11AM departure from town.
My wife and I spent 2 nights with a prepaid reservation. After arriving at the Wismar Bahnhof from Schwerin, we walked 650 m southeast to this white hotel overlooking the large Market Square. Check in was efficient with an English-speaking clerk and we were soon on the elevator to our 3rd floor #304. The adequately sized bedroom featured 2 twins(put together) with nightstands. A large wardrobe with shelving included a mini bar refer/safe, then an easy chair below the fixed wall flatscreen(cable with CNN and BBC), then a desk with chair. The adjoining bathroom with shower was fully outfitted. The room was clean and beautifully finished, no AC but good secured Wifi. We shopped on the Square and at the nearby Edeka supermarket. We consider this hotel expensive(did not include a free breakfast or a hot pot for coffee/tea), but it is ideally situated for the city’s UNESCO sights.
The front of the hotel, located at the central square, suggested a old house with winding staircases. Inside it is very modern, staff were very friendly, the breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold food. Liked my room in the annex - quiet and modern room.
We had a very enjoyable one-night stay at the Steigenberger hotel. It has a great location on the Market Square in the center of town. The hotel has their own self-parking garage in the rear of the main building (inquire at desk to get access). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded for no apparent reason to a suite on the 2nd floor overlooking the square; a huge two-room suite (plus two bathrooms, big walk-in closets, etc.). There was no noise from the square...the town was pretty dead after about 8:00 pm. The hotel has a wine bar that we took advantage of in the evening, buying a bottle at a very reasonable price and taking it back to our suite. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable.I did not notice any air conditioning. We did not need it and just opened the windows for some fresh air. But in the summer it might get a little warm. They have a complete breakfast for 15 euros each.
Booked a standard double room, excluding breakfast. Arrivng by train its a 10-15. minutes walk from the train station. Too early for check in, but the staff looked after our luggage, gave us a map and we went down towards the harbour for some lunch. They could not recommend somewhere for lunch, just suggested down by the harbour. Its a couple of steps up to the reception area. We were allocated Room 102. There is a lift. The room is in the original part of the hotel. The windows are openable and look out onto the alleyway. Its a reasonable size room, with a desk and chair and an easy chair. There is a minibar and safe and tv. Wifi is free and fast. We did think there is not enough power points which we all need now to charge the appliances we all travel with. The beds are comfortable and its quiet. The ensuite is small but functional. There is space to put your toilettries. No drying rack, just heaters. Breakfast is held downstairs in the hotel's cafe. The cost is €14 per person. Its a good sized room with plenty of space to move around. Its an extensive buffet with lots of choice. The hot food is kept in a bain marie. The food is regularly replenished. I think price was warranted. The location of the hotel is excellent. Steinenberger is right on Am Markt. Its easy to get everywhere the tourist would need to go and an easy walk to/from the train station. This is a bigger style hotel which caters for buses. All staff we encountered were pleasant and professional. This hotel represents good value and we recommend staying here
Usually staying here when visiting Wismar, good rooms but somewhat uncomfortable beds. Friendly staff and ok brekkie buffet. Even a small bar in the restaurant corner for a cold pils. I had early checkout, so the receptionist even arranged a doggy bag with some breakfast! Great service!
We stayed for one night as a stopover. Great location on the main square, easy car parking in the back (15 Euro per night). Great staff. We had a big comfortable family room, clean, with TV and safe. Breakfast was also good. Only issue was the slow wifi, at least in our room.
Steinenberger is set right in the market square. The hotel staff were wonderful and restaurant was very good but the rooms were a bit small and don't get me started on the shower. It's Germany so it was very clean. About an hour and a half north of Hamburg near the Baltic and North Seas. Still very chilly in early May, so bring a coat and sweaters.
It seems expensive, but you will get a lot for what you pay. Newspaper, shoe cleaning or car parking etc. . The Lobby staff is very helpful and friendly, and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was very good and the location is convenient. A couple of sightseeing spots are within walking distance as well as the small lake "Alster".
A very nice and clean hotel in the middle of the City. Parking was no problem, even it was at the market place. Everything around was walking distance, to the harbour, café, shopping or restaurants. The breakfast was very good, lots of choices and very friendly staff.
