The hotel is part of a bar and the staff were very helpful and even carried our luggage to our rooms. There is not an elevator, and the hotel is close to the docks and had everything we needed for one night. The coffe cups in our room had clearly not been washed, maybe rinsed.
I liked the character of the building and the staff was very helpful!
Convenient location. Easy to get to and near major attractions. An interesting older building that wouldn’t be for everyone. No elevator but otherwise everything you need at a good price. Brewpub downstairs had good food and brews. I would definitely return the next time I’m in Auckland.
Beware of the other comments about this hotel. It is basically a back packer hostel. I was extremely disappointed because it looked cute on the website and was looking for a less expensive option for a one night stay. This hotel has no a/c and it is in the heart of the city center so you have to have your window open and it is extremely loud. I’m from nyc so I know loud so not being able to close your window at night was annoying. They did offer a fan but it was still really hot! Everything is outdated- the hotel needs a huge facelift. I also would not stay in this area again. It was just a cold, dark urban core. During my stay I visited Ponosby and there were lots of cute shops, pubs and life. Look around at other options, but I would strongly not recommend this hotel to anyone.
