For a 5-star hotel, I was severely disappointed. Other than the reception staff, who was very friendly and helpful, my encounters with other staff was on the cool side. My biggest disappointment for the price of the room was that it faced a concrete wall. If the windows opened I could almost reach out and touch it. When I asked to move, I was understandably told the hotel was full and that someone would call me the next day to let me know options. They did not. There was also an intermittent loud banging-clanging, emanating for the gym, I think, which was disruptive.
Good spa , The gym need better ventilation , Good restaurants
I am very disappointed wth Orbitz and the hotel regarding the free shuttle service between the airport and the hotel. The orbitz instruction to contact the hotel beforehand I had followed to a tee but was told by the hotel concierge that a limo would cost $ 150.00 there was no shuttle service.l paid $45.00 for a super shuttle. One of the main reasons why we choose this 5 star hotel was the free shuttle. The hotel manager blames Orbitz and has documented their claim. We want to be reimbursed $ 90.00.
I was overall happy with my visit but do believe it is time for renovations with the rooms , but location very good
A very pleasant surprise. As a former major hotel executive I don't often stay at other brands. The Langham is as good as any I have enjoyed. Christopher in The Palm Court went out of his way to make our two dinners an outstanding experience.
Its a great location with helpful staff. Room needs some updating.
We were only in Auckland for a night and enjoyes our stay at the Langham. All of the staff - front desk, bellmen, concierge, spa, were all fantastic. We used the spa several hours after we checked out to clean up for our flight back to the States and it was very nice. Great location - would stay here again.
Top-notch service and facilities in a classic hotel. Excellent and friendly service.
I wanted to see Auckland and this was walking distance to the ferries and Viaduct district. The people are friendly, the rooms are modern and have a fridge. The only complaint was that there was only one machine in the gym and it could have more options if you are a fitness buff.
This was a hotel of contrasts. Good location and friendly staff, but poorly managed and some draw backs. The restaurant was good but very expensive. The sound proofing of the rooms was poor. The internet was only free for 30 minutes/day. There was only one sitting chair in the room.
I came last week end for the rugby game. I asked on saturday afternoon where eden park stadium was (I had a rugby jersey on me, no mistakes possible), the concierge indicates me the mount eden. So I walk more than 90 minutes before realized it was not at all the right place. I finsihed by grab a taxi to get to the stadium: result: I miss the atmosphere around the stadium before the game and arrive just in time for the beginning of the game. When I explained it to the front office on the day after at my check out, the duty manager quickly apologized but asked if everything was ok apart of it. I was suprised by this answer. Maybe I wasn't a classic 5 star customer to deserve more time or another reaction...
To start with check in. We arrived at 2pm and they would not give us a room until 3pm even though it may have been ready. They have a strict policy of 3pm check in. We could not even get the key at 10 minutes to 3pm. They would not even send our bags to the room until after we got to the room. The spa was a nice area but was very dirty with dirty towels laying all over. Food service...waited a long time to get menu. Our meals came at different times so I was finished by the time my husband got his meal. My oatmeal was cold and congealed . The fruit bowl had old fruit that was like left overs several days old. My husbands brioche french toast was not brioche but plain white bread. Very bad meal and experience and expense...over $40. Concierge acted like I was bothering him when I asked for a map of the area. Beds were comfortable but room furniture tired and not as in pictures. For the price and class of hotel, I expected a lot more. Will not stay again.
The hotel was a perfect place to spend the night prior to jumping on a cruise ship.
We normally love stately old hotels, but the Langham in Auckland is outdated. The staff seemed overwhelmed at checkin, and it took two tries for us to get into our room, well after 4 pm. The room itself was fine, but the view was yucky and the furnishings weren't anything special. The bathroom was a mix of old and new -- when's the last time you saw rubber drain covers in the sink and tub? Internet is provided only after you join their "club" and we kept getting kicked off if we didn't use it for awhile. Overall, a C+.
We couldn't have asked for a better end to our 3 week honeymoon than to stay at the Langham Hotel in Auckland. The service was spectacular, the hotel was luxurious, the food was excellent, and we enjoyed a nice spa and massage as well. Would definitely recommend if you are planning a trip to Auckland. The one possible drawback is that it is about 1 mile from the harbor, but that could be a good thing if you don't want to be in the middle of all those tourists. Also, The hotel has a free shuttle that will take you down there and pick you up every 30 minutes, from 800AM - 930PM.
Stayed with Langham as a reward for a long vacation travelling for 14 days, Don't know that you can find a better hotel. Staff is wonderful and ensures your every reqeust is honored. Very knowledgable of travel modes, best value, and a shuttle that runs to CBD all day long so you can experience all of the CBD. Rooms are very nice, room service excellent, and the Spa, steam room, sauna, heated outdoor pool and hot tub at night has spectacular views. Definite stay on our next trip.
The Langham is a wonderful hotel with extremely attentive staff, a nice location, and a very comfortable room. Best bed we stayed in during our vacation in what was our fourth and final hotel with turndown service and lots of nice amenities. Only complaint is that like most hotels in New Zealand, the internet is not free in your room. There are free computers down the hall, but you have to pay to use the internet in the room which frankly doesn't make much sense. Otherwise, a great value for your money and probably the best hotel service I've ever seen.
I had no idea what to expect! I travel for business all over and this was a vacation trip and a last minute booking while in NZ when we had a few nights before we flew out..... WOW..... FIRST CLASS place. The spa is top notch if not one of the best I have been to. The work out room is great. The pool and sun deck are awesome. The place is spotless. The rooms are ideal. The service is personal and top level. I feel like it should have cost 10 times what we paid.... [...]
We checked in early and were very happy to see that as the other reviewers had said they allowed early check in. However, we had upgraded ourselves through our travel site to an executive room, when the check in clerk announced he had further upgraded us, I was very excited, only to find out he hadn't and our room was a standard executive one on the 5th floor with no view and a tiny bathroom. I guess you have to point out very carefully what you have booked, we did appreciate being able to use the room early. The hotel is very luxurious so all extras can be very expensive, so keep to the simpler parts of the menus. Some of the staff were very helpful, but I was surprised that a 5 star hotel wouldn't have wifi.
