My family and I stayed at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City during the weekend of July 2025, and I can say without hesitation that it was one of the worst hotel experiences of our lives. We arrived with hopeful expectations—this was meant to be a relaxing getaway for my husband, our special needs child, and myself. Instead, we were met with chaos, disrepair, and a level of indifference from staff that was both shocking and deeply disappointing. The elevators, a basic and essential amenity, were a complete disaster. Some weren’t working at all, while others were getting stuck mid-floor. Guests were visibly panicked and confused, and there seemed to be no urgency from the hotel staff to fix the situation or even communicate with guests. Navigating this nightmare with a special needs child was emotionally exhausting and physically dangerous. No family should be forced to make the choice between waiting endlessly for a working elevator or carrying a child up multiple flights of stairs. The energy in the hotel was dark, cold, and unwelcoming. From the moment we checked in, we were treated more like a nuisance than valued guests. Not once did anyone on staff ask if we needed help or offer support—not even when it was clear we were struggling. The rooms were outdated and gloomy, and the overall atmosphere felt neglected. It was as if the soul had been drained from the hotel long ago, and all that remained was a shell of what it might have once been. I would never stay.

Hotel is old, furniture is old, elevators are old and the waiting was typically 20 mins, a worker was arguing with a customer. Never again!

My first impression staying in AC and I was not pleased from Check-in to Check-out. The receptionist was unpleasant when it came to the explanation for valet. The Elevators were horrible, slow, was stuck a few times and skipped floors. The air quality was poor, with dust in the vents and patches that weren't sealed. Additionally, the doors to our bathroom would not lock. I felt unsafe and will not be returning. Would like a refund.

The wait for the five elevators going busy times took quite a while to get back to your room or down from your room. The doors on the rooms have absolutely no insulation and you can hear everything from the hallway and other rooms. It’s an old hotel but in OK shape it is in a good location and easy to get in and out of

Stayed here during the July 4th weekend. Hotel was nice, had an older vibe but overall very nice. Room was a bit hot (lack of AC), but very nice for a last minute booking. Boardwalk was a 3 minute walk and very convenient.

The pool experience was the best part of the trip. The hotel is a relic that needs serious TLC. But the staff. The check in was slow, the clerk was uninformed and no one bothered to tell us where anything was in the hotel. We had to come across the restaurants and wonder our way to the other casinos. On top of that we asked for an iron. We were brought an ironing board. We already had one of those! And the young man who brought the board didn’t even know what an iron was! What! I had to explain what I meant. It was real interesting around there. So the pool was lovely because it was heated and not crowded. However, there were no towels. I was first to arrive and saw the security guard who unlocked the pool . I asked him to send someone with towels. Did they ever show up? No! Good thing I had my own towel. I really should give it a 2 now that I remember all that.

Welcome to the hotel California. You can check out anytime you like but, the elevator will never let you leave! Broken elevator prevents you from going anywhere! Uncomfortable bed. Beach front view if you could see it through the dirty window! Long wait for check in. Absolutely, a ghetto hotel! Save your money it isn’t worth it!

Beautiful hotel horrible elevators

Loved the old time feel of a once beautiful hotel. The Italian place on the 6th floor was great. Could be updated but food and workers were great. The biggest issue are the elevators. They made doing anything in the hotel a hassle. Ppl literally waiting an hour or more for an empty elevator. When they come they are overcrowded and Hot. Some elevators didn’t go up or only went down. It’s a nice old timy hotel that needs upgrades in the rooms. But those elevators need to be looked into and something needs to be done.
