Athens Center Square Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days. It's very clean and they serve a rich breakfast. I didn't like though that it's locate in the central market. The market is OK, but the area is not very nice at night. Also the rooms don't have balconies and I think this was a shortcoming for me. Other than that it's very nice for a short period.
This is, as they advertise, a solid 3* hotel. My room was very clean and functional. The location is outstanding, right in the center of everything, meaning equal walking distances to all the sights north, south...etc. The clientele of this hotel was very good and courteous. It seemed everyone was respecting of everyone regarding noise. Yes, I could hear sneezing and coughing between rooms, but never TVs or loud conversations. Olga at the front desk was a joy, her happy demeanor was nice to encounter when she worked. Breakfast was nice, though the scrambled eggs were way too dry for my liking. I definitely enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend this hotel for the intrepid traveler. Hotels in Athens can be deceiving, so be very careful. You will not go wrong with this one. Only one thing, for those who after a day of travel want to buy a bottle of wine, relax in their rooms and perhaps put on HBO or something, this is not the hotel. There are no comfortable chairs, and a very limited number of TV channels. If you come to Athens for the history and sights and need a safe, clean, great place to sleep, oh, and affordable, you found it here.
I was in town for a business event at another hotel but my wife and I wanted to get a feel for Athens by staying closer to Monastiraki Square. Athens Center Square was a perfect choice. We were able to walk around the entire area and find wonderful dining and great local shops. The rooms were clean and comfortable, while the rooftop terrace offered an outstanding view. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. This hotel was a perfect choice for what we were looking for.
I stayed at this hotel with my partner cause of our anniversary, they were nice with my request of leaving a nice note in the room saying happy anniversary and in fact they put also a small bottle of wine plus some sweets, that was a really good surprise that didnt expect it at all! Is really close to Monastiraki square which is a few minutes of Acropolis The breakfast is wonderfull! The recepcition team is too serious and sometimes not very helpful, and they chargue you for making a call and they do not say the price per minute and our call was an emergency to our country due to stolen or lost wallet and when we explained the situation they did not same to care about the situation. All the rest is fine.
Just checked into the hotel today, and I am writing this review right at the hotel. Excellent staff....very helpful indeed. As soon as I arrived from India, realized that my flat pin charger was not compatible. The gentleman at the reception immediately gave me his charger and requested to return after we check out. If you are looking for luxury then please don't bother, however this is centrally located right in the middle of the bazaar. The metro station is and the central market is at a walking distance. The best part is the view from the terrace. Climb to the terrace and Lo and Behold, the acropolis on top of the hill is a photographers delight. Would like to add, the rooms are clean and have all the basic necessities that are required, the staff is super friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would like to stay here again when I visit Athens.
Lovely little hotel off of Athena street with easy access to the Monastiraki Square and the Metro line No 3 that is direct from airport. Hotel staff especially Maria and Olga are exceptionally helpful and provided lots of info and maps to major attractions. The breakfast was very good with a great selection and the roof top bar has a magnificent view of the Acropolis. Rooms and entire hotel are very clean. The only downside I can see is the fact that until you get to the hotel entrance the fruit market area while being lively and noisy in daytime is very dark at night especially coming off the busy street. I would definitely recommend the hotel.
This hotel is well within walking distance of Omonia and Monastiraki metro stations (Monastiraki is on the line that serves the airport) and walkable to all the central tourist attractions. The staff were very friendly and I was given a good run through of the attractions in English on check in. There are 2 lifts to get to the upper floors both of which are small. One would only fit 1-2 passengers with a cabin bag and the other would squeeze in 2 passengers with a piece of medium/large luggage each. Guests of larger build may well find the lifts claustrophobic. I had a double room and en suite shower which was clean and the size one would expect from a 3-star establishment. There was central heating vents with pseudocontrols but I had no problems getting the room to the right temperature by opening the window for a period in winter. WiFi strength and speed are good enough for streaming. The roof top terrace offers 360 degree views of Athens including the Parthenon (I had a Parthenon view room too). Apart from the occasional rumble from neighbouring rooms noise was not a problem with window shut (I was on third floor next to lifts and stairwell). Breakfast is standard continental fare of 3-star standard with Greek salad, sweets and yogurt. There are the usual kiosks and Greek fast food and standard fare cafes and restaurants nearby and a bit further on in Plaka are more trendy areas for food and drink. One will find an open air street market and bazaar on the street right in front of the hotel which is open all days except Sunday. Nearby indoor market annexes house the butchers and fishmongers. I suspect the restaurant and market activity to be the reason the ensuite accumulates an aroma of greasy/putrid drains that can be quite unpleasant first thing in the morning. The sink and shower drain well and the aroma disperses quickly once your shower commences. Ensuite vent works well and shower pod dries quickly overnight. Some reviews mention some undesirable elements in the area but apart from the most upmarket quarters of Athens this area wasn’t any worse than others for homelessness and graffiti. In fact most shops are occupied and Monastiraki comes to life every night with Greek youth socialising and shopping in the area. Despite the quirks mentioned above I would stay here again. Would also recommend provided friends/family are aware of the above issues which I suspect are largely outwith the Hotel’s control bar major investment and refurbishment.
I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions. The first time I was a little bit wary because I know the area very well and it can seem slightly seedy. My fears were totally unfounded. It is situated slap bang in the middle of the fruit market, which is full of life and colour and within walking distance of the obvious must see attractions, bars and restaurants. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all helpful (especially Agnes in Reservations). They all speak English, which is a plus for those that do not speak Greek. I happen to speak the language and found the staff, while surprised, also appreciative of the fact. The ONLY thing that would make it better IMHO is a swimming pool, but hey, you can't have everything Breakfast was also good with a daily selection of hot and cold food, fruit, cereals etc. The view from the roof bar is simply to die for with just about the best view of The Acropolis and surrounding areas, with very reasonable prices. I am booked once again for summer 2018 for my birthday and have managed to get the Executive Room with balcony. I am thoroughly looking forward to my stay.
This hotel is not in the best area of Athens, being close to the central market, but it is modern, clean, and within ten minutes walk of Omonia Square, Monastiraki and Psirri. Our room was big enough, although not large by any means, but was well decorated and very clean. Towels were changed daily, and the room made up and cleaned. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Bacon was available on only one of three mornings. Just a pity it was not served every day! All this for only €51 a night. Great value. Would definitely stay here again.
I stayed at Athens Center Square in December. It was in close proximity to everything we needed. Clean rooms with a view! Staff was very helpful, knowledgable and professional. Breakfast was really good too.
