Very good location in between Onomoia and Manistroraki metro stations - 7 min walk either direction. Room is small but clean. Toiletries provided but not bedroom slippers. Breakfast spread is OK. Balcony on the top has a great view of the Acropolis (serve beer and cocktails) to wind down in the evening. Service staff is super helpful and friendly. Special mention goes to Pavlina who went round during breakfast to provide useful information, help plan your outings for the day or just a friendly chat. Greece is a beautiful country but the warmth and friendliness of Pavlina - like all the Greeks whom I met during my trip - makes it such an awesome country!
The hotel is located near the acropolis and across the street from a fresh produce market The staff are very nice and I would recommend watching a sunset up at the rood top bar If you like a local feel and flavor can't but love this place Best Steve and Deb
Clean, centrally located, and easy access to public transportation. We walked everywhere and took public transportation to the port. The cab ride is 30 minut s from airport. Awesome roof top bar with amazing view. Make sure and get a room on the 4th floor or higher if you want a view.
This is my second visit at the hotel! Only i have to say is that i had the same excellent experience as before. Tasteful breakfast, kind and helpful staff, great view from the roof top of PARTHENONAS & LIKAVITOS and the rest of the city. Congratulations again to all the staff and management! I hope that i'll return back soon for 3rd time
Nice maintained old hotel in the heart of the city. Walking distance from all major attractions and the nice taverns in Monastiraki area. Good service. The only downside is that the entrance is in the middle of the local market, which may look a bit scarry for inexperienced travelers, but I didn't feel any treat even late in the night.
if you are with public transport could not be better location (near fruitmarket and food hall), excellent breakfast, nice staff, internet availiable even for archoes without smartphone, excellent desk. comfartable rooms
We just arrived back home from 5 nights in Athens. We stayed at the Athens Center Square hotel in the executive room with the Lycabettus view. To start off with, the location is wonderful. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Monastiraki metro stop. It is a 15-minute walk from the Plaka district and a 20-minute walk to the Parthenon. Directly outside of the front doors there is an active fruit market and down the right side of the building, the infamous meat market. The values are tremendous between these two markets. I will absolutely miss the one Euro bag of fresh cherries. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Athens. Although it is a busy area during the day, you will not encounter noise from your room. That is a huge plus in a big city. If you have been to San Juan, Puerto Rico, then you have been to Athens' little brother. It is a crazy, eclectic, and sometimes worrisome city but it is filled with friendly and amazing people. Add to it the outrageous historic sites and you have quite a travel adventure. The breakfast is good. The attendant we encountered was efficient and kept the food continually stocked. We never had to ask for anything to be refilled as it was always available. The WIFI was in and out but that was all over Athens. The television had a few stations but some were blurry (but who needs to watch television on vacation). The balcony off of our room was large and the view was unbelievable. Photos are included in this review. The rooftop bar has the best view in the city, in my opinion, besides the Parthenon. I have to explain why I cannot give this property a five rating. The beds. They are awful. I read in other posts people calling them "hard". From our travels that's not what these beds represent. They are just cheap and terrible. I had to ask for more linens to line the bottom of the bed. It is a cheap coil mattress that has nothing on top as a cover. My partner suffered too even though he loves a hard bed. Other than the beds, and that's a major disappointment with this property, everything was just superb.
The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel itself was clean. We had a great view of the acropolis from our room. The entrance of the hotel was not in the most convenient location in the middle of the market.
We stayed three nights in this hotel in early May. It was our first time in Greece. But, the kindness of all staff in the hotel is what stood out. Indeed, we found all Greeks to be very kind and helpful. In the hotel, reception, kitchen, and housekeeping were so helpful and just great. Everyone seemed to have at least a basic command of English. But, our favorite was Olga at Reception, who was so sweet and eager to help with any issue that anyone had. I saw her running outside to translate specific instructions to a taxi driver for some visitors and could see that she obviously goes above and beyond. Location Location Location: the hotel is perfectly situated for walking to the Acropolis, Parthenon, and the Museum. The flea market and Square is a couple of blocks away. We took the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus to see some of the other sites in Athens, but really, most are in walking distance of the hotel. Our room in the hotel was small, very small, but I understand that all hotels in this price range downtown offer small rooms. While the sound from other rooms wasn't a big problem, the sounds within our room were very substantial. When one was in the bathroom there were no secrets whatsoever about what was occurring. But, you should only travel with those that you are close to anyway.... The hotel offers a great breakfast with cold cuts, cheeses, scrambled eggs, ect. The other key offer by the hotel is the rooftop bar that has fantastic views of Athens and the Acropolis. At night, the Acropolis is lit up and is just beautiful. We just sat there drinking wine and staring at the Acropolis. It's like the Grand Canyon, you just can't take your eyes off it. OK, the bar itself is not fully equipped, you can't order just any drink you want. But, we found the Greek wine to be great. We had spent almost two week in Rome before arriving in Athens, and had our share of good wine in Rome. Our general experiences of the Greek wines were incredible. I don't generally drink white wine, but the Greeks have some wonderful dry white wine. I committed a major faux pax! In the early morning rush to get to the airport I left my passport at the hotel! We were flying to Crete so my Driver's License was sufficient ID to travel, but I would not be able to leave the country without it. The hotel sent it on overnight express to the Crete hotel! The people at the Athens City Square Hotel are just wonderful! The price is good and Location Location Location...
We stayed at hotel in May 2017. First of all, we enjoyed the location of the hotel. It was in a lively area of the City with the fruit/vegetable markets just outside the front door and walking distance to the tourist destinations. The views of Parthenon from the rooftop patio at sunset were spectacular. The breakfasts were delicious. We were pleasantly surprised when arriving at the hotel early for our first day, we were offered breakfast. Each morning, during breakfast, a concierge stopped by our table to find out if she could assist us with our plans for the day. We also appreciated that the breakfast room was open for us to have coffee and light breakfast on the day we departed (at 5:00 a.m.) After arriving at our next destination we discovered my husband's wallet had been left behind in the hotel room at Athens Center Square Hotel. The hotel staff arranged to have the wallet delivered to our next destination. We were so happy with the service we received. I would highly recommend this hotel to visitors to Athens.
