I was first placed on 4th floor, quiet side, view of a cement building. Luckily someone was departing the next morning and I got their room - 8th floor, quiet side, view of the Acropolis - FABULOUS! - OK that I had to pay the difference. While I was next to the elevator, I rarely heard it. The breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful, especially Amanda in the breakfast room, and the gentleman who got me the 8th floor room. Unfortunately the rooftop bar was not open, but one could still use the rooftop. This is NOT a smoke free hotel, unfortunately. The hotel was very clean. I am a senior woman and I was traveling solo. I did not like the neighborhood of this hotel. I always made sure I was home before dark, luckily it was spring time - if it had been winter I'd have to be back by 5:00 PM! Next visit I think I'd prefer to pay more and be in a better neighborhood.

The area was on a borderline to no-go area. But once you get the hang of it, it is ok. Too much graffiti on walls and Monastiraki Square was noisy. But the restaurants in the area were wonderful. Food was good and the restaurant people really make you welcome. Traffic manners were much to be desired and you have to rotate your head 360 deg so as not to get run over. A travel agency just round the corner (Consolas) made our stay very enjoyable and went out of their way to help us decide on tours. First glance, we said never again BUT then the comfort of the hotel and the warmth of the people are making me plan another stay!

Very good hotel. Small but comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, Good location with metro nearby. And very friendly and helpfull staff. No complaints except for the 200 minimum numbers of characters in this review.

This hotel is centrally located near the metro station and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the plaka square. It is bordered by a fruit and vegetable market. This can initially be disconcerting due to the sights and sounds that characterise such markets. However, one gets accustomed to the market soon enough and the contrast between it and the hotel adds to the charm of the precinct. The hotel is modern with clean lines and very bright colours. The rooms are compact but neat and adequate. The staff are professional friendly and helpful. One of them at breakfast goes around to each table advising on places to visit and directions etc. There is a decent range of dishes available at breakfast including scrambled eggs. Complimentary Tea / coffee and biscuits are available all day.

My husband and I started our one month Europe trip here. We stayed 5 nights and couldn't have been happier. The hotel location was perfect for wandering through Monastiraki and surrounding lane ways, and major tourist sites. The location may look/feel a little rough at night, so be aware of your surroundings if coming back late. The breakfast was great, hotel staff lovely and helpful (organised our day trip to Delphi and airport transfer with no fuss). The room was good - lovely bath to soak in at the end of a day of sightseeing. The rooftop view was a big hit. I'd definitely stay again!

The location of the hotel might not be the Athens tourist hot spot, but it is definitely a very interesting environment, and I did also feel safe all the time. I would recommend to visit the meat market! The rooms are nice, the breakfast is ok, even though the coffee might not be the best in town, the view from the roof terrace is spectacular. I watched the sunrise from there, despite the hotel was fully booked I was to my surprise all alone. The staff is very nice and helpful, f.ex. I was advised that the nearest metro was closed on the day of my departure, therefore, I had to leave some time earlier to get a connection to the airport.

All the information tells you it is in a fruit market so don't be surprised when you find that it is! We really enjoyed walking out among the stalls looking at the wonderful fresh fruit. Obviously at night the stalls are packed away, we have not felt unsafe at all but as in any city you must be sensible and not go out at night dripping in jewels and walking down dark alleyways. Some reviews we have read have said how noisy the stalls are in the morning, but you must expect noise in a city and market bustle is more appealing than roaring traffic and fumes. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the market and we had no problem with noise at all. Above the market is a small square that is frequented by druggies. They did not impact on us at all as the little square is not the main walking route in/ out of the city. From our room we witnessed the police regularly moving them on. The room is not huge - remember this is a budget hotel, not the Ritz - but for those that have stayed in a Travelodge the rooms are just fine! The bathrooms are bijou but have everything you need including a lovely shower. Our room was kept spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel. There is a very useful fridge in the room, with free tea, coffee, Water, hot chocolate available all day in the lobby. The morning buffet is plentiful with a small hot selection, salads, cold meat and cheese etc. The staff are lovely with excellent English, v happy to help with directions etc. But of course, you must go to the roof terrace for the view that you have come to Athens to see!

Great location in the center of Athens very close to plaka square and to the acropolis, staff are nice and helpful the rooms are not bad but nth special in the hotel good for a short stay of max two days

Great hotel. Close to all the sights. 5 mins from metro station, 10 mins from Ancient Agora and 25 mins from Acropolis. Rooms are small but clean and well equipped. Hairdryer, tv, fridge and toiletries provided. Breakfast offers plenty choice. Great value for money.

Me and my friend really enjoyed this hotel! The room and bathroom were very nice. The staff was always helpful when we had questions about public transportation or the tourist destinations we were going to. They also have cards of different places to visit in the lobby which was really helpful and gave us more ideas of where to go. We were not a far walk from anything. We walked to The Acropolis, Mt.Lycabettus, and all around Athens and back to the hotel everyday. There were restaurants close by and a really nice shopping street with more bars and restaurants. There is a fresh fruit and flee market outside every morning which was a little loud but we got up early anyways. The breakfast that the hotel offers is great! They have fresh fruit, Greek yogurt (which was SO good), bread, etc. You can also go out of the roof of the hotel and there is a bar and comfortable seats, not to mention great views of Athens and the Acropolis!! Would stay here again.
