Radisson Blu Park Hotel, Athens

5.0 out of 5.0

In this hotel, the wall plugs do not support iPhone chargers or anything that is used with a two wall plug feature. We've had this experience before in different countries, so we simply asked for adaptors. To our disbelief, they did not have any left and we were unable to charge our phones and camera. It was a horrible experience because of this.

The furnishings and fixtures are extremely dated. The mattress is to say the least, uncomfortable. The carpet and window dressings are overly worn showing signs of stains, cigarette burns and holds a distinct odor. The bathrooms are in poor repair; black mold surrounds the shower and baseboards, while floor tiles are soiled in the majority of its grout lines. This is hardly a 5-Star hotel and should NOT be advertised as such. We changed rooms three times and each time there was only a slight improvement. According to Orbitz and the hotel manager, my contract would not allow for a transfer to an alternate hotel. So we were stuck without options. The rating sets a particular standard that cannot be met by the hotel.

We stayed 4 nights. Room is clean. Location could be better but not so bad, take metro and in minutes you're in the canter of town. Breakfast is disspointing, not worth 20 euro or even 12 euro as we were offerd if we get it for all of our stay(we had once, paid 20 euro each and that was it). The halls are dark, thay should put more light in them. The staff is VERY FRIENDLY, the staff maked your stay very pleasant. Good value for mony, I'd rate the hotel at 4.5 stars and definatly would return to it,

It was a great hotel with excellent staff and great location 5 min walk to the metro and as well as the very nice Archaeological Museum. I highly recommend this hotel.

Cons: The hotel was all right for Europe with a small room that needed some serious updating (the walls had canvas) and the lobby was much smaller than the pictures make it appear. The hallways are strange and dark. The closest station has been closed for over a year so the location seems worse than it is. Pros: The breakfast was really good and the front desk staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. The room was clean and we had a great view of the park Summary: Athens in general more resembles a city in South America than the rest of Europe and this hotel is no exception. The staff helps to make up for the aging feel of the hotel, but definitely not the luxury one would find in other "four star" hotels in Europe

Staff was very helpful. This was a one night reservation. The staff arranged to have a cab pick me up to go to the airport. It was on time.

Hotel has been "modernized" new lobby, dining (breakfast) now on 8th floor, lobby now looks a cheap motel in USA. We have stayed in the Park Hotel for years--a first class, older hotel with great service, Large beautifully decorated rooms with nice bath etc. Now it has no character. Great location for our travel through Athens to the Volos area. (We are native Greeks and know our way around quite well). Also note that there are several "Park" hotels in Athens area. Need somehow to differentiate. We used the street address.

Interesting experience. Adjacent metro stop was closed, not their fault. We ended up using #15 trolley bus to Syntagma. Worked well if OK with occ. waits. We were interested in Nat. Arch. Museum, worked great! Surprise was great (not cheap) rooftop restaurant. Pool was good; closed at 18:00 for poolside dinner service. We had construction on going, little noise before 09:30. We got a good rate possibly related to offers due to construction.

Room was a smoker room. The neighborhood in which it is located is not particularly central, but more importantly the hotel is not located in a very nice neighborhood. As in some other areas of central Athens, there is a lot of graffiti, but also homeless people, and even prostitution in areas near to the hotel, and we were advised by our taxi driver not to go into the park opposite to the hotel. The rooms and much of the rest of the hotel would definitely benefit from some TLC. Many of the details that make the difference between a 3-, 4-, and 5-star category hotel were just not there to justify its 5-star categorization.

our stay was for one night, however we did have dinner which was very good. the view was great. and the staff was very good.
