Attended the function on Old Years Night. Good Points Food, fish course was lovely! Staff, lovely young lot Hotel, very impressive Bad points Dance floor- but too small Band- decidedly average Man on entrance door- very rude and abrupt when we arrived. (Older man, grey beard). Needs to learn to be welcoming.
Went in for evening meal with family and with it being the city hotel expected better. Food was poor and overpriced and when i told the girl at the counter when paying she asked did i want to speak to a manager. I responded by asking was it worth my while she told me no. Very negative impression was made despite the previous servers being so plesant and friendly.
We stayed here last weekend for two nights. The girl on reception was just lovely so nice and helpful. We went on up to our room to get settled in and the room was lovely and spacious with a lovely balcony just a pity it was absolutely freezing we couldn't enjoy it. One thing i didn't like was the bath i was having a shower in i felt like I was going to fall through it like it had no support under it. We went on down to the bar for food and we had Ashley (i think that's his name) serving us. Well he went above and beyond his job role. I had asked about a certain cocktail that I love but it wasn't on the menu. Ashley without hesitation said he would make me up one and it was amazing. The food was so nice i had the curry and my boyfriend had the steak he loved it also. On our second night we decided to eat in the town and to be honest we completely regretted not dining in the hotel again. So thank you for an amazing stay we will definitely be returning again.
Went to the Gala Dinner and Dance last nite New Years Eve and had a good evening as the food was very good and entertainment which consisted of Declan Nearney the main band and other guests who entertained the crowd after the dinner BUT the BIG DISSAPOINTMENT of the nite was the Size of the dance floor for the amount of people there ? It would hav probably have held 100 people comfortably ,but no way did it cater for the amount of people at this function . Surely management knew this and should hav restricted guests to a limited number and made the Dance floor bigger . people had to Dance on the carpet or beside thier tables it was a Shambles and Many People like myself were disgusted at how this happened and said that they won't be back next year and can you blame them . So Armagh City Hotel you spoilt what should hav been a Brillant nite and I would say next years function if held a lot of harm for as I as one won't be back.
Love this hotel and stay as often as I can but i feel the housekeeping standards have slipped i.e. bathroom- it looked as there was a small amount of possible dried up vomit/food behind the bathroom door, I don't think the floor had been cleaned as the floor got soaked due to somebody positioning the shower head in the opposite direction and all water went outside of bath before i could turn it off should these things not be checked by housekeeping before the next guest arrives. when I used the bath math to absorb the water the mat was filthy. Tiles in the bathroom need a clean not just the ones around the bath. On check out I was not even asked did I enjoy my stay just asked did I want a receipt as I already paid.No effort to encourage me back. I cant fault the main majority of staff as they are very pleasant and friendly.
Stated last week in September. First visit to Armagh so it took a little while to find my way around. Eventually found he hotel and was welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who went through all the usual introductions regarding rooms, meal times and interests in the local area. Room was lovely, clean and very warm. Breakfast the first morning was a bit disappointing. My wife asked for porridge which, when it arrived was very thick and lumpy. I went for a fry But the sausages were almost cold and overdone ( we arrived early enough for the meal). However, both the evening meals were the opposite, very warm, tasty and plenty of it. The second morning breakfast was very freshly made, warm and tasty due to a party of American visitors who had stayed overnight. As there were not much in the way of shops in Armagh, we were about to head for Portadown but were advised against it by some locals to told us to go to the Rushmere shopping centre at Craigavon. I'm glad they told us because we spent the rest of the day there. Overall a fairly good first experience in the area and may return sometime in the future.
My husband and i always wanted to stay here so we booked the restaurant and decided to stay the night when I was off work for Halloween break, there was good parking ,staff friendly, good music in bar ,have to say we both felt where the two single beds were joined together we would much rather just have got a double bed, On the restaurant menu I really wanted a salmon dinner with hollandaise sauce maybe with veg and potatoes they were all on the menu separately, but was told by a young waiter No I had to order the salmon meal that was on the menu ,so I done that and didn't like it at all and it had no veg that I then ordered and had to wait on ,was so disappointed, great wee set up in foyer of tea and food as we didn't chance breakfast ,lovely scones .
Eleven of us, brothers and sisters and spouses and partners, had a superb Christmas lunch in the City Hotel today. The food was great as was the service and our thanks to Cornelia and her staff for looking after us so well. As you’ll see from my profile, I don’t often do reviews but this lunch deserved one.
We called in here as we do from time to time while coming back from Dublin, and onto Letterkenny. There is a large car park in the entrance to this Hotel and I am always amazed at the number of "disabled drivers" in Northern Ireland. I jest as they are not all disabled drivers but so called "able bodied drivers" who deliberately park near the entrance. I would wish the hotel Management would address this issue as I am sure there are loads of genuine disabled drivers who cannot get near the main doors. Rant over and while we went onto the hotel for coffee and a bun,we could have had " "afternoon tea" which is a normal event on a Sunday afternoon. I like the way they cater for Mums and daughters especially. This weekend there were a lot of Dads visible and then I found out why. Santa was visiting from 2pm to 5pm hence the increased number of people attending that Sunday. The excellent service continued on regardless as is their habit and fair play to them. The trays of cakes and buns were bewildering and if we weren't having dinner after an hour and a half we may have indulged. Yummy looking cakes. Oh well!
First time in To stay in Armagh. The Armagh City hotel stay especially the bar personnel. The facilities were first rate. The food in the restaurant was a good feast and the prices for what you receive was well worth it. The bed and amenities were wonderful. I would definitely recommend to stay while in the area. Morning breakfast is what one would expect at a hotel in Northern Ireland.
