Is a nice hotel, good food, volcano view from everywhere, they have even a small animal area, lakes, great hot springs and fun slides. Rooms are big, food is not expensive at the bar and very good. Gardens are amazing. My only recommendation would be to control a bit more the day pass volume of people when hotel is sold out as there were times that the place felt crowded. When I looked around it was mostly people with the day pass band that usually come in really large groups.

The staff wasn't friendly when we checked in, We had come from another hotel where the staff was extremely friendly, so maybe it was the comparison. We were shown on the map where our rooms were, and it was very far from the pool area, which wasn't great with small children. We were told we could take a shuttle to the pool area. So I started off not very enthusiastic about staying there. As we drove to our rooms, the property was beautiful. Beautiful flowers, so I decided..."this may be ok after all!" But when we saw are rooms, they were very disappointing. Very run down. The air didn't work properly (had to get up during the night to adjust on and off). I had other family members in the room next to me and their air also didn't work properly, tv didn't work (that's ok we don't need to watch tv in Costa Rica), and most importantly, the toilet wouldn't flush. We were supposed to stay 3 nights, but checked out after the first night and were able to get a refund for nights 2 and 3. On a good note, our kids really enjoyed the pool area and the water slides, the flowers were pretty, and the breakfast was very good.

From the stunning view of the volcano from the balcony of our large and clean room to the manicured grounds to the hot and cool pools to the large selection of food in the clean and stylish restaurant to the friendly and attentive staff, - everything was beyond reproach. And just ask our grandchildren about the water slides, and you'll need a sixth star to rate this place! Thank you for providing a stress-free environment. We all had a lot of fun!

The hotel itself is on a beautiful ground at the base of the volcano. It was amazing to wake up in the morning and see such a sight outside our hotel room. The pools and hot springs were amazing as well. However, we were quite disappointed with our hotel room itself. The bed was uncomfortable, the wifi did not work in our room, the sink had no drain stopper, the shower was a wheelchair accessible shower that we tried very hard to prevent the water from leaking into the bathroom itself, but we failed.

Great place. Value excellent. We'll be back. Beautiful landscaping & well kept.

The whole family loved this place. It was clean, safe and fun.

I was very disappointed with this hotel overall. When I arrived in the pouring rain and was taken to my room, the ceiling was leaking on the bed. I then got moved to another room, which they moved me out of the next day at noon, but the next room was not ready. When I got into the next room, the key did not work, which took almost 2 hours to fix, causing me to miss my dinner reservations, and then I left the very next day. I was very upset about the whole thing and not sure I would recommend this hotel.

we had a fun couple of days with two families. The kids loved all the pools and the adults enjoyed the swim-up bar. It's definitely a curated experience, but it works really well

The hotel was beautiful and very quiet. Not many guests staying when we went to visit. Many guided tours picked up from the hotel which was a plus. Also a taxi ride into town made it easily accessible. (One thing to keep in mind, do not store any $$ in the hotel room)

I would recommend this hotel as a great place in Arenal. The hot spring pools were awesome. We had so much fun night swimming. The free buffet breakfast had a great selection. Good value for your $

Perhaps I enjoyed this trip so much because of the incredible beauty of Costa Rica itself, but this hotel certainly made our trip more awesome. Every night and day, we would walk out of our rooms and witness the majestic Arenal volcano. We came during the rainy reason, which was actually pretty awesome. The resort was not too crowded and we had the best time of our life. The pools are fantastic and even have a water slide. The staff are super friendly and you get shuttled around to your rooms. I highly recommend taking a free hike up to see the Arenal volcano up close and also doing ziplining in the rainforest! I've been to many countries and hotels, but Los Lagos in Costa Rica will remain my favorite for a long time.

This hotel was fabulous! The staff was helpful when booking excursions and there was plenty to do on-site. The view from our room was breathtaking! I would definitely stay here again.

It just ok, it is not an fancy or elegant hotel, but it has some many water part for kids.

bedsheets smelled nasty and overall room feel was gloomy and old... THIS WAS FOR A SUITE!!! staff was friendly... hot springs were underwhelming... just like a big heated pool not worth all the hype

Overall, this was an incredible place. I would come again. The front desk staff definitely needs improvement with their English knowledge. It was a good thing I knew Spanish, yet having that skill didn't matter because they were unfriendly to me. The tour desk lady was very friendly though and so were the shuttle drivers and cleaning ladies. The food was expensive and not very good except for the breakfast buffet.

When we arrived there were many youth standing outside, hard to get into the lobby. We were disappointed in the room itself. Outdated, and the bed was awful! A hard boxspring....then next morning we noticed a pull out matress under the bed, we should have slept there. LIstened to a crying baby for several hours, cars coming and going since our room right next to the entrance. The mineral pools were the highlight of the property. Many beautiful pools, and enjoyable for young and old. The buffet was also nice.

This hotel had plenty for us to do and enjoy ourselves for our short stay... We booked Water Rapids with Desafio, through this hotel. That was a disaster! It was our first time, doing water rapids, I researched it and class 2/3 thought would not be a bad ride where anybody would get hurt but to make a long story short, my husband fell out of the raft and hit against the rocks! Being it was our first tour, it ruined our rest of our plans, for this 3 day short trip, to do anything else. I was so glad, I was staying in this hotel! It offered so many other things where my son and I, took my time, to enjoy and take pics of their crocodile farm, butterfly observation, frog area, even a very well structured site of the ants that cut leaves! Yes all this was included in the price of the hotel and on their property! They have even their own zip lines on property (which they do charge extra)! We wanted to do the SKY but after what happened, our wild side was depleted but was able to be close to my husband, who stayed inside most of the time, trying to rest to recover and have his leg wounds heal. The beds were very comfortable with FLUFFY pillows! I mention this because I have gerd and need many pillows, to sleep with, I have gone a lot of places in Costa Rica where most pillows are FLAT. I stayed in the rooms offering 2 Queen beds with not 2 but 4 pillows (btw underneath beds there are roll out beds). The AC worked great! There are long walks/hikes to every where on the property, great for the healthy, being the gardens are very beautiful to look at but for the faint of heart like me (to not say out of shape), there are shuttles you can call and who were right away to your room or you flag them down any where on the roads, to take you anywhere on the property. Mind you, I stayed in Low Season, I can't imagine HIGH season how they can manage it? The buffet breakfast included was great, plenty to choose from and a few things different on other days. But the pools were practically empty, they have many different thermal pools, one with a swim up bar! I don't know why this is rated a 3 star hotel. I would at least rate it a 4 star! But would rate it a 5 star if not for being a little run down... Here are the negatives: AC was missing a flange that goes up and down, like a fan piece, the coffee pot in the room was burning the plastic tray, it was sitting on but they bought as another one, pools don't use chlorine (which is the only reason I go in them because I can't take chlorine) but that could be the reason for grout lines being a little black in some areas. Some areas of the grounds showed a pile of debris (even though they are still building other pools and would obviously show debris of construction), the area I saw was not under any construction. Their check in and check out process is slow but it's Costa Rica, everywhere you go, they serve slow... There is no WiFi in the rooms, only at front desk area. I still Loved it and would go again!

The staff at the hotel was really friendly and helpful. Remember, good attitude is everything!!! Be polite, courteous and respectful, always. It helps too that I speak Spanish although some of the staff spoke English too. Out of all the hotel/resorts in this area, this one has the best view. You can't put a price on the view. Trust me. The volcano is fully visible from 6 AM thru 8:30 AM. I went on their winter season (raining season) during October. The complimentary breakfast buffet was really good and it had a good variety. The main restaurant next to the hotel reception and our room were really clean. Wi-fi on main restaurant is decent. Expect the wi-fi to slow down when it rains. Our room was pretty big with two beds and a rolling bed. Some areas of the resort are showing their age and it will be a good idea if they start investing some money to maintain the hotel. The thermal pools as well as the regular pools including the water slides, are excellent! There is a swim up to bar in the main thermal pool and the drinks are really good. Now, some not good news. This resort advertises the butterflies, frogs, cutter ants and caiman as an attraction. Do yourself a favor, these attractions are non existent when it comes to the butterflies, frogs and cutter ants. And the caiman exhibit is depressing. I quite don't understand why the hotel will advertise these exhibit because the quality of whatever is left on these exhibits is deplorable. My ratings: Animal exhibits - 1 out of 10 Room size - 10 out of 10 Room cleanness - 10 out of 10 Food quality - 10 out of 10 Staff friendliness - 9 out of 10 Thermal Springs - 10 out of 10 Volcano view - 100 out of 10 Property age - 6 out of 10 Property upkeep - 5 out of 10

It is a little paradise. They have q butterfly hut, cocodriles, and some animals you can see. They also have their zip lining and their own observation point to see the volcano. The rooms are big but the need a bit of upgrade and you only get free coffee in the room the first day. The service is great, we got a lot of help from Jessica at the front desk and Victor at the restaurant. Their thermal water pools are wonderful and the wet bar has a DJ so it makes it fun. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel far exceeded our expectations. We got there and were extremely impressed with what they had to offer. They have multiple pools that are fed by the hot springs. There were several water slides that we didn't think we would use but ended up enjoying them and using then often. The staff was very friendly. This is a great place for not only families but couples as well. Don't hesitate to ask for transportation from your room to anyplace at the resort as some rooms are very secluded. The staff was more than willing to shuttle my wife and I around the resort. The excursions they offer we slightly more expensive than what we saw in town but it was worth it to us as we knew we would be well taken care of and was very convenient. We will definitely be back at this resort if we are ever back in the area!
