We love Costa Rica -- been there 4 times just this year. It's a gorgeous country, which even though it's small there is an almost infinite number of things to see and experience. That does make up for what we have experienced as a lower standard of service than the average -- by that I mean that in the dozen or so hotels and resorts we have been to in Costa Rica, the service quality is consistently below the average of the hundred or so places we have been to elsewhere in the world. We learnt to accept that. But what we experienced at Nayara Springs is really an outlier, and really can't be forgiven, especially in context. Let me start with the good: as many reviews have said, this is a beautiful property -- the villas are gorgeous, very well designed and appointed and the plunge pool is just perfect. The mattress is literally the only thing we can complain about in the villa -- our mattress was definitely in need of replacement, since there were several sunken spots. The onsite restaurants are very good, and we really had consistently good meals, including amazing breakfasts. Our first few moments at Nayara Springs impressed us greatly in terms of service: our welcoming team was outstanding, promptly received us and gave us a tour of the property. At that point we were feeling very good about the service quality at Nayara Springs. We also had a great experience at the Spa -- amazing massages, great facilities -- and, again, the service at the restaurants was as good as the food. The Yoga instructor that delivers the daily 8:15am Yoga class was also solid. Laundry service was also very good. But what happened on Day 2 and then at Check Out was simply ridiculous. Let me set the context: Nayara Springs is kinda of in the middle of nowhere. It's far from downtown La Fortuna, for example. UberX does exist in La Fortuna but Nayara is far enough, and gated, that using UberX would involve long wait times. Same thing with Taxis. So we rented a car, so we would have some mobility and not be "stuck" at Nayara Springs for our whole trip (which would be sad since there is so much to see in La Fortuna and Arenal). When we arrived we were warned that due to construction Valet times are long. To call 20 minutes in advance or more. So on Day 2 when we needed the car so we called it 30 minutes in advance, and only after those 30 minutes we walked down to the reception. Car was nowhere to be seen... we pointed this out, waited 10 more minutes and... the wrong car shows up. 30 minutes, 45 minutes... eventually the right car shows up. At this point way over 1 hour after we called it in. Excuse? "We mixed up your car with your neighbor's". Sigh... Fast forward to our check out day... We call both the car in as well as a golf cart to pick our luggage up (it's a long walk to the reception, where the car would be delivered, and it was raining). 1 hour passes. No golf cart. We give up on waiting, drag our luggage down to the reception, expecting the car to be there. Nope. Nobody even tried to get our car for us. We point it out... 30 minutes... 45 minutes... 1 more hour. The car finally shows up. So: we had to drag the bags ourselves and wait 2 full hours for the car. Absolutely insane. The excuse? "We are really busy today". There was like one other couple checking out the whole period we were waiting. That should not qualify as "really busy". It was a Tuesday. Sigh... So -- if you're planning on never leaving the property and have packed light, you're probably in for a good experience. Otherwise... not sure. Just bear in mind it may take you 2 hours to check out...

My wife and I just completed a visit to Nayara Springs Relais and Château resort for a milestone birthday. It was one of the most enjoyable resort hotel experiences we have had. The private villa, amenities, restaurants, excursions, and service were exceptional. The grounds, which included several pools, spa, fitness center, choice of restaurants and intricate lushly landscaped walkways were immaculately maintained. Service staff levels seemed to exceed that of a high end cruise line, and were always cheerful and knowledgeable. The staff helped craft a series of off site nearby excursions, along with several very worthwhile on-site programs (guided wildlife walk and an in-depth coffee class, among others.). Pricing for on site restaurants and spa services were reasonable. Spa setting with each room overlooking dense rainforest canyon is unmatched. Each large villa features its own large spring-heated pool/jacuzzi, sited and landscaped so you are not aware of the nearby but separate units. Highly recommend this resort. Not to be missed. Chateau also nice as it is an adults only venue (found we were among a number of honeymooners).

We truly had the most amazing honeymoon in La Fortuna. After reading reviews we decided to stay at Nayara during our whole trip to Costa Rica. We could not be more pleased with that decision. -The rooms were amazing and comfortable. The turn down service every day was impeccable. The plunge pool was relaxing. -Mis Amoras was our favorite for Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. The staff here was AMAZING! They knew and what we wanted by day 2. Cannot say enough good things!! Special shout outs to Roberto, Alexander, Gregory, Ana, and Addy! The best staff at Nayara!! -The pool bar -- Vanessa, Neyerda, Tatianna, and Ranoldo -- all amazing!! Vanessa has to be the best bar tender on the planet. You won't regret indulging in the amazing cocktails here. -Jose at the wine bar was another favorite. I wish we would have gone here more! He was so hospitable and knew a lot about wine! -You cannot go wrong with any of the food on property. -During the booking process Ana was great booking our excursions. Highly recommend booking through the resort. You will see a lot of ads in town, but I rest assured that Nayara would only send us on the best - and they did! They book your transportation and all the details were taking care of for you! --Hanging Bridges, Lunch, and La Fortuna Waterfall - this one was our favorite day. If you go on a tour w/ a Nayara guide be sure to ask for Pablo!! He was amazing and the highlight of our trip. He showed us so much wildlife on the tour that we would have other wised missed had we gone alone. The lunch was amazing. Pablo was also very patient walking up and down to the waterfall! Cannot say enough good things about these adventures and Pablo. --ATV tour - this was fun but not quite adrenaline rushing. My husband wanted it to be faster but to me it was still thrilling! We went in the pouring rain and it was still a blast. --Lava Fields and Hot Springs - this was another one of our favorite days. You must go to Ecotermales (hot springs) during your stay! --Kayaking - this is the only thing we would skip. We wish we would have gone white water rafting or river drifting instead. I --Coffee and Chocolate Tour- we also enjoyed this day, it was relaxing and fun. We learned alot! --Sky Trek (zip lining) -- Cannot recommend this enough!!!! It was so fun and the tour guides were amazing. -The town of La Fortuna was very safe and getting a taxi there and back was super easy. We had great meals here too! All in all - Nayara was a trip of a lifetime and I hope we can return one day! I cried when we left because the staff became our friends and our villa felt like home. Thank you Nayara for your Costa Rican hospitality!

We came here on our honeymoon since we heard so many amazing things about this place and honestly I was still BLOWN AWAY at the level of service and professionalism! Tonya was absolutely amazing as she handled most of the things with our stay ! She was super nice and super friendly ! I cannot say enough good things about this place seriously ! From the staff to the decor to the beds to the food ! This place has my heart ! Sergio the chef is AMAZING we have a quite restricted diet as we are don’t eat shellfish and we are pescatarians and they made it work 100% every time we came in to a restaurant they made sure about our restrictions and the service was just AMAZING . Amor loco is seriously way beyond amazing the food the service the decor the ambiance . EVERYTHING in Nayara is top notch ! Also our personal host menreque was beyond helpful and walked us through all of the amenities , services restaurant reservations and everything in between ! And let’s not talk about their laundry skills because honestly they do better laundry than I do at home 😂 also their drivers take you from your room to anywhere on the property in the golf carts so your not getting your pretty little feet tired walking to the restaurants or pools or reception lol ! I LOVE NAYARA and can’t wait to be back here already

So worth the journey from San Jose. The property is stunning. Daily complimentary breakfast overlooks Volcano Arenal. Coffee shop overlooking a running stream on a balcony. Live music at Amor Loco every night. Howler monkeys heard and seen several times. Various birds in sight. Golf carts to take you around. Villa 1 had the private plunge pool and close proximity to all the things we wanted. Thank you all for an incredible weekend. I highly recommend!

Is it worth the money? Yes. The rooms are amazing. Beautiful and spacious. You have a private thermal pool that you'll never want to leave. Keep in mind a thermal pool is naturally warm not artificially hot (warm is better in my opinion, they do have hot tubs on site too in beautiful settings). We spent hours searching for animals and found both monkeys and sloths. Super exciting! The restaurants provide a great selection and are easy to walk to. Book a spa appointment, the setting is a luxury tree house. It really is unforgettable. We did a private eco tour with Edson and he was incredible. He knew everything! We saw a mom and baby monkey, a snake, and birds. Best of all is the service. The staff is kind, genuine, and helpful. We already miss them. If you're wondering if this place is worth the price tag, it really is. We feel so fortunate to have been here.

My wife and I recently celebrated our 15th Wedding anniversary at Nayara Springs and it exceeded all of our expectations. We had a room overlooking the Arenal Volcano that was beautiful. We loved getting breakfast delivered each morning and enjoying the wildlife. The property is second to none and the service is truly 1st class. I would highly recommend this resort as a romantic getaway.

My wife, Diana, and I recently celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary at Nayara Springs! It was the most spectacular and wonderful Experience we have ever Shared together! The grounds are immaculate & the front desk personnel are most Helpful. We were greeted in our Villa with celebratory decorations, eats and drinks! The villas are in close proximity to each other, but with the lush foliage all around, it seems as we were alone in this rainforest setting. The villa is spacious with an outside Infinity jacuzzi on our back deck to relax in. Then there were the 2 outside showers on the other side to further enjoy the tropical setting. Our favorite place was the Amor Loco restaurant which was located very close to our villa. It is open all day for breakfast, lunch & dinner. At night, they have Live entertainment. Also, there is an Infinity lap-pool with cabanas to relax just next to Amor Loco. We were there for 4 nights and had the Best Time Ever! Everyone working there is very friendly and helpful. We had bought too many souvenirs/recuerdos, so Nayara Springs front desk was most helpful in getting our additional large package sent back home to us in Texas via DHL.As we were leaving, it seemed like we were just saying Hasta Luego to newly made Good Friends at the Nayara Springs Resort! We look forward to returning again & we highly recommend the Wonderful Experience that awaits everyone at Nayara Springs!

My husband and I cannot say how much we enjoyed this resort. Our room was like something out of a movie. The staff thought of every detail were so considerate it was by far the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at and we have traveled the world. We went to breakfast and returned to a clean Room we went to dinner and returned to turn down service with freshly baked cookies beside our bed. Your are in a private love buble of rain forest appropriate lighting sexy setting, romantic meals and views and top notch service where everyone knew our name and our personal preferences. From a check in with coffee then couples massages to a private dining experience for just us two at "besseme muchos " we were in awe. These are luxurious add ons we dont usually spring for but made the stay at Nayara that much more memorable. EVERY menu especially the cocktails were executed and concocted with great attention to detail. Honestly the only down side for us is no hotel will be able to reach the bar they have set. TRULY A DREAM COME TRUE.

Based on the title you may be thinking why the 4 star rating? I will get to that in a little bit but everything else besides one or maybe 2 things were top notch and 5 star all the way. We stayed here in a villa for 3 nights as part of our costa rican Anniversary adventure. Our mistake was spending 4 nights by the beach at peninsula papagyo. I would have much rather have spend more time here as this location and resort is what Costa Rica is all about. As I mentioned most everything was 5 star starting with the staff on to the villa and the food. The villas are amazing, but some of the furnishings and light fixtures seem a little out of place and don't fit the style we prefer. Now the main issue that made me knock a star off the rating, the toilet. They entire 3 nights we could only get the toilet to flush completely a total of 4-5 times. Other times it took 10 flushes to get it to go down. We told the front desk 3 times and it was never fixed. The only other minor issue was the cleanliness of the pools was not great including one of the main pools and the plunge pool in the room. The food was really good to amazing in some cases. The best culinary experience we had hands down during the trip was the Wine Pairing dinner. Food was excellent and the wine pairings were spot on. Lucia the Sommelier was amazing!! She offers the kind of service and knowledge that really makes a lasting impression on guests. Also the other staff members in the wine bar were top notch and helped make our stay great. We booked a tour of Mystic Hanging Bridges and the La Fortuna waterfall through the resort which was great. Sey our tour guide was out of this world and helped make the experience unforgettable. Alex the driver was great as well. Overall I would recommend Nayara over and over again!
