Our family had a reservation and stayed at the hotel this past Tuesday evening. We checked into our room about 8:00 p.m., and discovered the bathroom had not been cleaned, as there was a used bar of soap with HAIR all over it left in the shower. We called the front desk, and they apologized and found us another room. As I was getting ready Wednesday morning, I saw something balled up on the floor beneath the suitcase rack. When I poked at it with my foot, I discovered it was a pair of thong underwear, NOT MINE, that had been left there from the guests before us. This was our second room, and clearly this one had not been properly cleaned either. When I went to the front desk to report this latest incident, the woman asked me what I thought was fair compensation. I told her I didn't want to pay for the room at all, because if I would have discovered those the night before, we would have left the hotel. I never would have let them find us a THIRD room that had probably not been cleaned either. She wouldn't agree, and offered a 50% discount, asking me if I was satisfied with the rest of the cleanliness in the room. WHAT? I just wanted to get out of there. I took the 50% discount and left. This place was gross, and I would never stay again.
The hotel desperately needs updating. We had 2 rooms and in one room the TV was not working and the other the toilet needed repair. The bathrooms are simply NOT acceptable. Low toilets and low vanities....this is a holiday inn??!! Located on the freeway so if noise is an issue on that side of freeway The bed was comfortable and the TV was a nice size. The AC is a through the wall system that is also loud and did not work well.
It had been a long time since my kids were small and we went to see Big Ole in Alexandria. My kids played in the “Holodome” I think they called it back then. The hotel is a HI and has comfortable beds and clean rooms. The pool area has expanded to include a little kiddie pool, hot tub, regular pool and a nice seating area. I had a poolside room and didn’t mind the kids playing. It was quiet just after dinner. Well worth the price. Will take the grandson back for an adventure at the pool for sure.
Needs a little updating. Rooms were not terrible. Counter tops where sticky from cleaning supplies. Beds were comfortable. Restaurant attached was really good. Liked the live music on the weekends. Did not hear it from the room which was good.
I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times mainly because it's right on the highway on the way to Fargo from Minneapolis. The good: Location plus it has a restaurant/bar located off the lobby, which itself is good but a bit pricey. If you stay here, do not get a room on the highway side. There is a lot of highway noise. The rooms need a renewal. Mattresses and pillows are very soft and need to be replaced immediately. My guess is this is a franchise owner at this location. TVs don't look real new either.
Got the chance to stay in this hotel overnight courtesy of my cousin. It’s centrally located in city of Alexandria Minnesota. The hotel has very spacious well kept room. There is indoor pool and activity place which suits the cold climate in MN. The check-in and check out is a breeze. Our twin room had big beds. Spacious enough to move around. I love the complimentary coffee it’s not instant but Keurig.
Location is great as is the restaurant staff and hotel cleaning service. Front staff, not so much. Give the major impression they are doing you the favor. Not sure what there attitude is stemming from. Shame though. The place is certainly in need of a major deodorizing. It smells as if the pool over flowed and was left to air dry. That aside the value was okay. Quite sleeping and my particular mattress was comfy. FOR NOW! I say that because I've been told I must change rooms. I am a IHG Spire member due to being in hotels all over the country an average of 250 nights a year. I know the front staff knows of my preferred status as well know they do not care. 300+ rooms and I have to move! REALLY??? AM I the only room of 300+ that has double beds? Something this single traveler didn't even want in the first place. Same is...I'll most likely be stuck here another 4 weeks. Stay tuned as an update WILL FOLLOW!
We stayed two nights as wedding guests. The room was very humid despite running the air conditioner. The room was quiet and clean. It was nice to have a fridge in the room. The hotel staff were not friendly with the exception of the bartender. She was super sweet. The food at the bar area and from the reception at the wedding (held at the barn) was not great. Food at bar was over cooked and burnt. The reception food lacked flavor and was visually unappealing. I did feel that the room was overpriced. I will continue to stay at a different chain of hotels where my cost is lower and I receive more amenities.
Old style so if you go with those expectations you will be fine. Rooms are clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Our upgraded room was quite small. Bathroom especially small. Overnight was just fine, extended stay would be difficult. Restaurant on site that we love for dinner. Don't expect breakfast or drink coupons to be included.
This property is getting a little tired. It was clean and quiet enough, but the room smelled like cleaning supplies. The air conditioning was loud and the window didn't open. They have a decently equipped exercise facility.
