Helen Keller’s home, Tuscumbia

One of America’s truly inspirational women, Helen Keller, went on to become a famous author, political activist, and campaigner, despite her disabilities. Her home in Tuscumbia is preserved as a memorial to her life and work.

7.Madison – A quiet and sleepy little town, Madison sits on the northern border of Alabama and is historically one of the most important locations in the state. Best Time to Visit Alabama

Sunny, warm and with an average annual temperature of around 64°F, Alabama is a great spot for a vacation all year round. You may encounter cooler temperatures to the north, and the state park around the Appalachian Mountains sees plenty of snow during the winter. Summers can be very hot with temperatures of up to 90°F, so the shoulder seasons of spring and fall are often better times to visit for cooler temperatures and lower humidity.

Getting Around Alabama

The best way to see Alabama is by car. Car rentals are available at all major points, such as airports. There are six major interstate roads, with the I-65 running north to south and the I-10 east to west. The port of Mobile is a popular cruise stopping point, while airports serve Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and Huntsville.
