This is a very large and spread out resort. There are shuttles you can take (lg golf carts) to go long distances like across the whole resort to a specialty restaurant, but if you’re just going to the pool or beach it’s a further walk than average. The grounds are cut right out of jungle so there are lots of iguanas, coati, and agouti to see. The pools are huge, and a little deeper than usual at about 5’3” - just under my lips and I’m 5’11. So carrying drinks was a bit difficult. Unfortunately the 2 bars around the main pool and one in the pool only had 1 or 2 bartenders at any given time so there was always a lineup. As for servers around the pool taking orders they were pretty much nonexistent. I was asked a total of twice in 3 days by the pool. There is no food allowed by the pools, and not much as far as snacks. The Royalton in Cancun 3/23 for example had better bar service, better wait service around the pool, snacks around the pool, that’s what I’m using as a comparison. The pool bar ran out of Jameson (my preferred beverage) on Saturday, then Jim Beam later that day. It was never replaced at last check on Tuesday. The other bars had it so it wasn’t a supply issue as much as a “sorry what else can i get you” issue. Staff was pleasant, no other issues. El Dorado - best specialty restaurant. Spec reservations have to be done by 3:00 one day prior. We were given a map and dinner schedule but not much other info r/t events or facilities. Beach was nice.
