Flights Review

Feb 27, 2020

This was the first time flying Royal Jordanian. They do not announce when they are boarding so if you’re not sitting at the gate (which I was), you wouldn’t necessarily know.

Jul 11, 2019

I was shocked they offered a full meal in economy for a one hour 20 min flight. Good food too.

Traveling from Amman to Cairo

Flying From Amman

Amman is the capital city of Jordan, and it has a population of over 2.8 million. Serving this large population is the Queen Alia International Airport, located about 20 miles from the city center, and the Amman City Airport in East Amman. Cheap flights from Amman can be found using Orbitz.com, and international flights will likely depart from the Queen Alia Airport. The smaller Amman City Airport only handles military and domestic flights, with some routes available to nearby countries. Some of the air carriers operating out of the Queen Alia Airport include British Airways, Lufthansa, Royal Jordanian and Austrian Airlines.

Parking at Queen Alia International Airport

Parking is available at the airport on both a short-term and long-term basis. The long-term car park is a guarded area off the access road, with space for 680 vehicles. Transportation is provided from the lot to the terminal by shuttle van every 10 minutes. There are four short-term parks available near the terminals.

Transportation to Queen Alia International Airport

Transportation to the airport is provided by taxi service or public bus service. The taxis are metered, with costs of around $28 for the approximately 25-minute ride from the city to the airport. The buses are considerably less costly, with fares of around $2 for the 35-minute ride from city center.

A Meal Before Leaving

For those looking to have a meal before leaving on one of the available cheap flights from Amman, 32 North at the Grand Hyatt Amman serves a delicious breakfast buffet featuring omelets and waffles. For a more traditional meal, Diwan Shahrayar in the Le Royal Hotel Amman offers several traditional Arabic favorites.

Cairo International Airport

With Orbitz.com, you can book your domestic flight anytime you want without breaking your budget, since Orbitz offers deals and discounts that other sites can't offer. Located less than 10 miles from downtown, the Cairo International Airport handles most of the air traffic leaving from and arriving in the city.

Where to Go

After arriving in Cairo, you might feel a little confused about what to do next. The Cairo Transport Authority maintains a series of buses that stop at the airport, popular landmarks, and other areas in the city. Micro-buses and taxis are another option. Micro-buses are like small minivans that can hold several people. The small buses and taxis wait for travelers at the entrance to the terminal, providing inexpensive rides downtown.

Dust Storms and More

Dust storms are most common in the month of April and temperatures fluctuate depending on the season. If you visit in the summer, you should expect temperatures in the low 20s, with a high around 32 degrees Celsius. Winter temperatures can drop to single digits, with highs in the low teens.

Ancient Ruins on Display

Tourists flock to Cairo for the ancient ruins on display. Orbitz.com can give you access to a discount on some of these sites, such as Dahshur, Keops Pyramid, and Kefre. Even if you prefer indoor attractions, like the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, you can still find deals. After finding flights to Cairo, look for low prices on tickets to attractions you want to see on your trip.
