Harrisburg is situated at the edge of the Susquehanna river and, as Pennsylvania s capitol, is home to the iconic State Capitol dome, which covers over five and a half acres, and plays a major part of the city's skyline. Visitors can take tours of this impressive building when in Harrisburg, as well as visiting the National Civil War Museums, and the Fort Hunter Mansion and park.
For another exciting day out, take a visit to nearby Hershey, home of chocolate-themed thrill-seeking attractions such as Hersheypark amusement park, or the tasty Hershey's Chocolate World attraction. For dining that isn't chocolate-based, head straight to Restaurant Row on Harrisburg's Second Street, an area of downtown brimming with restaurants and bistros.
Getting around
To get from the airport to where you are staying, Harrisburg airport is equipped with a very useful Multi Modal Transportation Facility. It is advisable to rent a car as driving is the best way to see a lot of the area's attractions.
