In 2012, a 136 million dollar improvement project was completed for Long Beach Airport which helped to add modernized and necessary features to the main terminal.

There is now a 2,000 space parking lot, a partially enclosed baggage claim, and minor improvements made to the historic original terminal that was built in 1941.
