Long Beach Airport (LGB) is located three miles northeast of Long Beach in Los Angeles, CA. Once known as Daugherty Field, this small yet essential airport offers 41 commercial and 25 commuter flights on a daily basis as of 2015.
While this facility is smaller than Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), it s the ideal choice for travelers seeking low-cost flights to and from the Long Beach area.
In 2012, a 136 million dollar improvement project was completed for Long Beach Airport which helped to add modernized and necessary features to the main terminal.
Without taking away from the historical aspects of the architecture, the upgrade added resort-like amenities such as an indoor garden, outdoor dining choices, wine bars, and 14 gates.
There is now a 2,000 space parking lot, a partially enclosed baggage claim, and minor improvements made to the historic original terminal that was built in 1941.
Flying to Long Beach Airport (LGB) you'll notice fourteen gates in total, that are divided into a North and South concourse.
The airlines include Delta Connection, US Airways Express, and JetBlue Airways, which is the only airline accessible though the North Concourse. Gates 1 - 4 can be found in the South Concourse, while gates 5 - 11 are located in the North.
