Fresno Yosemite International (FAT) is a public/military airport that is owned by the City of Fresno in California. This facility is the closest airfield with scheduled flights to Yosemite National Park even though it is actually located 60 miles south of the popular tourist destination.

The airport opened during World War II in June 1942 and was originally known as Hammer Field. It was primarily used by the United States Army Air Forces' Fourth Air Force as a training base and featured three sub-bases as well as two gunnery ranges.

Today, hundreds of thousands of passengers arrive and depart though Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) each year.

Flights are provided by popular airlines including Aeromexico, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, and Delta Connection. The majority of air traffic both in and out of the airport is private aircraft with just 7% being commercial, 6% military, and all other for private use.

Stress-free Traveling

In 2010, a terminal building expansion and remodeling project was completed that helped to improve customer service by adding multiple check-in counters, rental car counter areas, and an expansion of the baggage claim to make arrival and departure much easier for Fresno Yosemite passengers.

High tech equipment was also added to the main lobby including LCD display screens that help improve accuracy on flight information and details.
