Everyone I encountered was incredibly nice, welcoming and helpful. Distance-wise, this was a great place to stay if attending a conference at the Convention Center. I felt very safe as a single woman travelling alone. This was my first experience in a hostel, and I was not disappointed. Will definitely stay in HI locations in the future!
The real downside of this location is the excessive loud noise because of its location. Unfortunately there’s not much the hostel can do about this other than maybe install windows that are more sound-insulating. If you are interested in night life, this is the perfect hostel. If you’re not and like to go to bed at 10pm, that’s nearly impossible without using the ear plugs that the hostel graciously provides. I was staying in one of the rooms directly adjacent to the street, so noise levels would probably be better in one of the inner-circle rooms.
Also, in the morning it was a bit tough to get access to the bathrooms because everyone is trying to take a shower, and there’s limited facilities. I resolved this issue for myself by opting to shower at night when the facilities are much less busy.
Overall, a great place to stay. Just consider the noise at night and accessibility to bathrooms/showers.
