Location, location, location. We were in a very private area in the mountain but close to everything. The cabin was adorable and made for a romantic setting. We enjoyed all of its amenities. We did have a couple of problems but when I sent a message to the owners, I received very prompt response. They did try to make arrangements to fix the problem when we would be out but it just didn't work so everything was taken care of when we left. We appreciated the effort. Unfortunately in todays world, many businesses are just short handed. But here is a safety tip.... we grilled out steaks on our last night (after dark) and that brought in a very large male black bear. Big, like the ones you see in movies. We scared him away but it was a terrifying moment. Bears have very padded feet. He made no noise. We did not know he was there until he was very close to us. So my advice is grill in the daylight so you can see around you better. We yelled, my husband waved his very bright tactical flashlight, I waved a fire poker, and a split log, all to scare him off. Not sure if any of that is a bear book but it worked for us. And in case you are wondering, the bear did not get our steaks and they were delicous!
