“Game Room Heat Ruined Our Stay – Avoid This Rental”
While the property was clean and mostly reflected the photos, our experience was deeply disappointing — enough that we left 10 days early.The first major issue was the game room. We booked this home in early June, expecting a fun space for our teens and young kids. However, the game room — a converted garage — has no air conditioning or proper ventilation, only a small fan. With outdoor temperatures around 98–99F, the game room was completely unusable. Even with the door open and the fan running, the temperature barely dropped below the mid-90s. It was dangerously hot and not safe for anyone, let alone children.The second, and perhaps more troubling, issue was the host’s response. When we reached out about the unbearable heat, we were told, “It looks just like the pictures.” While that may be true, the space was unusable. The host offered no solutions, no compensation, and minimal communication. As a result, we were forced to leave the property just two days into a 12-day stay and book another home at additional cost.To make matters worse, VRBO only refunded 100 of the more than 5,000 we spent on this rental.If you care about comfort, safety, or customer service, I strongly urge you to avoid this property. No one should have to go through what we did. If the host is willing to help us with a refund, we would be willing to rewrite this review; until then, we recommend you steer clear. We found a fantastic property for the same price in a better neighborhood.
