My lower rating has nothing to do with the property itself, but with the listing. At the top of the listing, it says it’s the entire home but it’s not. The homeowner is in the basement. He said that there is no way to access the main level from the basement except there’s a door that swings into the staircase that goes downstairs. It is listed in the listing that the homeowner will be there at the bottom of the amenities drop-down box. The very bottom in two little sentences. To me this feels very misleading. The owner seems very nice and kind, but that’s not what we signed up for. I just wish the listing wouldn’t say entire home on it and if you’re going to state that the homeowner is going to be there it should be at the bottom of the page where other details are listed on the main page of the listing. It’s not an amenity or a benefit to have the homeowner downstairs during your stay. The home is nice, but it’s an older home so every sound is going to travel between those two floors. It just didn’t feel like there was any layer of privacy whatsoever. It’s a perfect spot for someone renting the property that is fine with the homeowner being there. It was not for us.
