Good day, I'm formally requesting a partial refund of half our moneys paid for our stay in Jamaica at the Bahia Principe, Runaway Bay from October 24th to November 2nd.
From the first day we got on site the amenities had already started to be boarded up due to the pending hurricane Melissa.
We paid $6300.00 for our package of hotel, flight with Westjet and car rental.
We contend we did not have the opportunity to use all the amenities, activities and facilities one would expect of an all inclusive vacation.
On October 28th the hurricane hit our location with full force, resulting in significant damage to the facilities and flooding to our room, which we had to clean out ourselves at 2:30am in the morning after being help up in a supposed safe room which almost lost its roof and started to leak significantly resulting in all the guest being moved to another location.
We were supposed to leave on October 30th, but our flight was cancelled twice due the airport being shut down, then shockingly Bahia decided to immorally and unethically charge for an overstay of two days. Further complicating things we lost contact with the car rental company Autounion Car rental Jamaica due to widespread power outages and cell tower damages. The car was left under the care of Bahia security for them to pick up when they're able. We were told the car has a tracking device so they are able to retrieve it. They also placed a hold on a deposit of US$1000.00 which we also want returned.
