The beach was nice and the activities available were amazing! They do not clean your room though. The kitchen was a great plus and the market they have there was nice!

My husband & I spent two weeks in Martinique at Hotel Bambou the end of February through the first part of March. This was our first travel experience in Martinique, although we have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean.. The island is delightful- exotic & tropical, with the bonus of very reliable services- electricity/ highways/ water quality, etc -due to its being a part of France. This is a positive and unique aspect of Martinique in comparison to many other islands of the Caribbean. As well, the people are friendly & welcoming & love sharing their island & its history. French IS the dominant language- and as visitors, one would be most comfortable with some mastery of French -as English speakers are limited. Do not expect much accommodation for English- Martinique is a part of France & so residents speak Creole/ French Patois or proper French. We were more than pleased with our experiences at Hotel Bambou. We found it very much as advertised on line. We booked through Orbitz and got exactly the type of room we reserved. Our room was in the newer section- Creole Culture - a "superior room with partial ocean view " on an upper level. It was roomy, spotlessly clean & well furnished. A nice balcony porch provided an ideal outside spot with constant breezes on which to relax- sip French Rose & sample Brie (available at the little shop across the road from the hotel) .The resort is beautifully maintained- inside & out. This hotel has an excellent location, with a private beach, right on Point du Bout, within very short walking distance to the marine and the set of shops and restaurants, as well as a few beautiful beaches (and a little longer walk to one of the few casinos on the island, if one is interested in that). It has kayaks, jet skis and windsurfing boards to load - but the weather when we were there prohibited use of them. It has a windsurfing school - which was fully booked when we were there (they gave the lessons at a different beach due to weather). It has a spa, which we did not use. It also has tours and boat trips (in French), which did not use since they were fully booked when we arrived. Therefore, it is important to plan ahead. However, I don't know why this hotel is rated as three stars by the local government. It lacks basic amenities such as a mini-fridge or a restaurant that allows one to order food - the restaurant there is only buffet for all meals. There is no ice machine - one has to ask the staff at the bar or restaurant for that. There is no convenience store in the hotel, but there is a small one next to the marine (with limited hours). The rooms are clean but basic - they only have showers, not baths, for example. The breakfast buffet was nice, but not really impressive. Use of spa amenities (such as hot tub) is extra cost. The pools are smaller than they appear on the web site. Overall, it was ok, but from a three-star hotel I would expect more.

Quiet, a bit dated. The beach was closed off from the hotel because it was "broken", so we were told. But you could get to it by walking through the town a ways. There was a great pâtisserie across the street, and a small grocery store was next door, both very convenient. There was a small kitchenette on the balcony of our room which was nice to keep food cold and heat stuff up in the microwave. Staff was great, tho some did not speak English, thank goodness for Google Translate. Pool was nice although too cold for me to go into in January. Wasn't a whole lot to do in town, and really for that reason alone, I probably would not return to Diamant.
