Espace Sud de la Martinique Vacation Packages

My husband & I spent two weeks in Martinique at Hotel Bambou the end of February through the first part of March. This was our first travel experience in Martinique, although we have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean.. The island is delightful- exotic & tropical, with the bonus of very reliable services- electricity/ highways/ water quality, etc -due to its being a part of France. This is a positive and unique aspect of Martinique in comparison to many other islands of the Caribbean. As well, the people are friendly & welcoming & love sharing their island & its history. French IS the dominant language- and as visitors, one would be most comfortable with some mastery of French -as English speakers are limited. Do not expect much accommodation for English- Martinique is a part of France & so residents speak Creole/ French Patois or proper French. We were more than pleased with our experiences at Hotel Bambou. We found it very much as advertised on line. We booked through Orbitz and got exactly the type of room we reserved. Our room was in the newer section- Creole Culture - a "superior room with partial ocean view " on an upper level. It was roomy, spotlessly clean & well furnished. A nice balcony porch provided an ideal outside spot with constant breezes on which to relax- sip French Rose & sample Brie (available at the little shop across the road from the hotel) .The resort is beautifully maintained- inside & out. The hotel is very well maintained and the staff are really helpful and friendly, but the location is dreadful. It has wonderful views and nice grounds but you have to drive a number of miles uphill on completely unpaved, rocky, muddy roads with enormous potholes and a real risk of grounding your rental car. I wouldn't do this again without a 4x4 and I certainly wouldn't attempt the drive in the dark. If you come in from the Francois direction you will find yourself trying to cross culverts that will certainly ground your car. From the Robert side it is a little easier, but still not recommended. If it were just the hotel, I would recommend it without hesitation, but I would never return to this hotel until they do something about the access roads.

Quiet, a bit dated. The beach was closed off from the hotel because it was "broken", so we were told. But you could get to it by walking through the town a ways. There was a great pâtisserie across the street, and a small grocery store was next door, both very convenient. There was a small kitchenette on the balcony of our room which was nice to keep food cold and heat stuff up in the microwave. Staff was great, tho some did not speak English, thank goodness for Google Translate. Pool was nice although too cold for me to go into in January. Wasn't a whole lot to do in town, and really for that reason alone, I probably would not return to Diamant.

The beach was nice and the activities available were amazing! They do not clean your room though. The kitchen was a great plus and the market they have there was nice!

Very friendly staff. Nice location. We had a brief but lovely stay.
