My stay at HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof Denver – Lakewood West was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The moment I stepped foot on the property, I knew something was seriously wrong. There were at least five police cars and around seven officers standing around the area during my check-in. A cop even approached me asking about possible disturbances. I had just arrived and was checking in, so I told them I had no idea—but that alone was enough to make me feel extremely unsafe. Inside the room was even worse. • Cockroaches everywhere — crawling on the floor, walls, and even onto my bed • Strong cigarette smell that reeked through the entire room • Bathroom was filthy • Sink was clogged • Fridge was dirty and clearly not cleaned The cockroaches were the final straw. One crawled onto my bed, and I couldn’t sleep at all. Since I was waiting to ask for a full refund and trying to give the place the benefit of the doubt with the other rooms they provided, I even went as far as buying Lysol disinfectant and Raid to kill the roaches—but honestly, it didn’t work at all. After two nights, I seriously had enough and left. Another major inconvenience: The front desk is only open from 11 AM to 7 PM, which is completely unrealistic for travelers. My flight arrival didn’t align at all. If you arrive outside those hours, you have to call a phone number and wait for someone to come check you in, which feels sketchy, inconvenient and unnecessary.

The only kind word to offer about our stay is that the staff are courteous and responded to every problem. It is mind-boggling to me that a hotel or motel bearing the Red Roof corporate name allowed the state of disrepair and filthiness that we experienced. If you stop here because of the low price, be sure to inspect the room before you commit to staying here.

Room was neglected. Looked like no one had been there for months. Heater didn't work right away. No toilet paper. Yellow water in toilet like it hadn't been flushed in weeks. Black water came out of the shower to start, then cleared. Very thin blanket, not enough to keep warm. Front desk closed at 7:00pm Sat. so no staff there to help. Closed Sunday! TV reception unwatchable. Microwave looked like it had something ate away at bottom layer... not safe to use? Huge closet with no hangers, etc.

The room smelt like mold really bad. The heater did not work.It was thirty 23 degrees that night outside. The shower sprayed water everywhere. I reserved a room for a week after one night.I told them I was leaving and I wanted to refund, and I haven't heard a word from them yet. I took a video of the room before I left. Girl at the front desk says she would check me out.Found out later, she had me still register.Just staying and I was at another hotel.

This hotel is awful. I couldn’t stay here. I slept in my car at a the Pilot rather than stay in this dump. Do not stay here! It’s in a bad area and there are people tweaking out in the parking lot. The security guard doesn’t care about anything. I seriously am so upset about this. That’s $80 down the drain. There’s a bunch of junk in the parking lot and no places to park. Disgusting place.

They room didn't appear to have been cleaned properly. Food under microwave glass player, dirty refrigerator, ac didn't blow cold. I've got pictures and I need to see if all my charges were refunded. My brother was having open my heart surgery off Union and 2nd. After I saw the room condition,I immediately went to the office, they said look at another one!!! Yeah I'd like to bring roaches into a cardiac ICU .

The first room I was assigned had clearly been smoked in. The staff was very kind and got me a new room. The second room didn't smell as bad, but there were cigarette burns in the comforter and a dead bug on my bathroom sink. The living room area didn't have a light and the place couldn't have been more bare bones. I would not return.
