Cabin #4 - "Hackmatack"

Cabin #4 - "Hackmatack"
Named after a type of pine tree found in the Northeastern United States and Canada, this cabin is similarly named to its sister cabin. With 2 bedrooms and 449 sq ft, it's a wonderfully snug size for a small group of friends.

This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the early 1930's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and those are few and far between. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.

All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.

The listed rate reflects the price for 4 adults or a family with children up to 6 people total. Additional adults beyond 4 will incur additional charges. This cabin has a sleeping capacity up to 6 people utilizing 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and a futon in the living room. There's a kitchen with everything to cover your basic needs, a dinning space and a simple bathroom that includes a warm shower. The spacious 11’x6’ enclosed porch overlooking the lake is the perfect spot for watching children at play in the water.

Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.

Pets are welcome on the property for an additional fee of $25 per night / per pet, paid at time of arrival if not otherwise paid. This includes pets of your visitors to the property.

Free Parking is available for 1 vehicle per cabin. 1 boat/trailer per cabin is also free but are required to be parked in designated area elsewhere on the property. Extra Vehicle fees will be collected onsite at the time of arrival if not previously collected elsewhere. RV's are not permitted.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a balcony or patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a sofa bed, a coffee maker, and an ironing board.

The cabin was as advertised. It was rustic and had basic accommodations. We ventured to iconic Leggs Inn for dinner, a 20 minute drive, which we enjoyed very much. Bed was ok. Great value compared to nearby hotels in Mackinaw City & St. Ignace. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a no frills and clean place to sleep.

The host, Richie is a really nice guy, that wants you to enjoy your stay. Having said that he needs to do a little maintenance if he wants repeat customers. My first time there was in the fall of 2020. It's a very rust nostalgic place, but over the years it's becoming a big run down. This was my third time there and I will continue to return. At least one more time. A bit of a disclaimer though: in all fairness he was hit by a pretty bad Ice storm this past winter and is working really hard to get things in shape.

Rustic Retreat

It was a sweet little cabin. It could use some restoration of exterior. The shower was dirty. We were unable to shower in the morning of our overnight stay.

Great little cabins!

Great little waterfront cabin! We stayed for a long weekend of playing on the water. Access to the inland waterway is only 20 minutes away. Mackinaw only 10 minutes, and a good boat launch right next door. Rustic cabin charm was awesome. Reminded me of Canadian fishing trips with my dad.

Family Reunion

Rented (4) cottages for a family reunion. All worked out great! Campfires at night, smores, pontoon rides during the day. Close to many northern and U.P attractions, making day trips easy. Old to young alike just loved the place and atmosphere. Great sunrises, sunsets and star gazing at night. Highly recommend.

Right on beautiful Lake Paradise with dock and screened in porch. Very quaint and had everything we needed. Will return as soon as we can. Great food across the street at Clyde's Place and just down the street at Harbor Light's Grill. Both in walking distance. A little peace of paradise.

Very happy

We stayed 1 night in October. My only complaint is that you can hear every little sound. We kept walking up because screen doors were banging. The property owner did hunt me up a fan, which helped, but we didn't sleep great. Regardless, I absolutely recommend. I bet it's a great spot in the summer.
