I stayed for two nights with my two children (11 and 8) for my birthday. I’d mentioned the occasion when booking, but nothing was acknowledged – not essential, but most hotels usually make a small effort.
The hotel has a spa and pool, but under-18s aren’t allowed to use the pool, which was disappointing. Breakfast doesn’t open until 8am (a bit late) and was fairly standard.
The staff were excellent – professional, friendly, attentive and always smiling. Easily the best part of the stay, 10/10.
The room, however, felt tired for the price. Loose wall lights, an unfastened duvet cover revealing an old, stained duvet with hairs on it, and bathroom silicone/tiles showing age.
Noise was also an issue on Saturday night from a wedding reception. We’d been told about events, but despite having young children, our room was placed right next to the function hall, which made no sense.
Overall: staff are fantastic, but the rooms and facilities don’t justify the cost. A very average stay, and I probably wouldn’t return.
