This converted girls school has been done to a high standard with many period features left in place - a comfortable bed and very clean room. The staff were very helpful; an excellent full English breakfast in the morning with great service rounded off our stay
I was in two minds about the hotel before booking it but as it turned out it was a good move. Both rooms were spacious and comfortable. Dinner on the Saturday night was good but the restaurant quiet. Sunday breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We arranged to meet more people at the hotel on Sunday morning and the staff supplied us with lots of tea and coffee. Definitely on the list for future visits.
My husband stayed here with the best man, ushers and his parents the night before our wedding. He said the staff were really friendly, the food was lovely and the rooms very comfortable! Highly recommended
I had the pleasure of staying here for 7 months while on a contract in Wolverhampton. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome and at home. The owner and all the staff are very helpful, nothing was to much trouble for them. I have nothing but praise for Ely House. When I left after 7 months it was leaving family. My thanks to Ken, Claudia and all the other staff who made me so welcome and comfortable.
Visited over a month ago for a family funeral, my dad booked 3 rooms for the 6 of 6 us, lovely clean rooms n a good night's sleep.A particularly hard time which was made easier with the stay at the Ely. The cheery hostess, so bubbley and took care of us so well couldn't do enough!breakfast was lovely and one evening she even called the chef to come on his shift early to accommodate us.i only mark the place down by one because the food in the evening wasn't great I was absolutely craving fish n chips and thought it would come freshly battered because of the price but it arrived in a really dark brown batter, think it was frozen n chucked in the fryer, it was solid!the rest of the meals weren't upto much either, such a shame that the food standard didn't match up to the brilliant service think maybe need to source fresher ingredients.but all in all a great place
Stayed for 2 nights while in Wolverhampton for a gig at Civic. Really comfy (and huge) bed (Room 9) and staff couldn't have been nicer. Lounge Bar was empty when we got back from gig about 11 but they opened it for us and even lit the fire specially which was really nice. Shortish walk to City centre although you have to negotiate a typically fiendish Midlands roundabout but there are bus stops within yards of the hotel and it's easy enough to get about. Will definitely be back if down your way again.
We were in Wolverhampton to see a show and were delayed by three hours due to weather. The staff allowed us to drop our bags so as not to miss the show and check in at 23:00 when show had finished. Because we had not eaten they then prepared us snacks which we took to our room which was very clean and spacious. The hotel was very well decorated and the staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant,Breakfast was excellent and I only wish we had not been delayed so we could of made better use of the hotel bar and company. A genuine jewel in the rough.
We stayed at the Ely House as a stop-over for a gig at the Civic. The hotel, albeit basic (3 star) is lovely. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, and have good local knowledge. The room was fairly small, but comfortable and it had everything we needed for a one night stay. The hotel was spotless! The hotel was in easy walking distance of the city centre . If you don't eat your evening meal at the hotel, try Cafe Maxsim on the main high street, just pick up a bottle lol wine before you go as it is not licenced (BYOB). Breakfast was good, well cooked.
Title says it all really, Great staff (even if one person seems to be doing everything I did hear other people) nothing too much trouble Good location for centre of Wolverhampton Breakfast very good both the cooked and the continental Reception and bar area attractive and clean Rooms and beds comfortable Bathroom well equipped and modern Very Fair quality standard for price Only small negatives ( that hotel can do little about) to be aware of are the car park is tight for big cars Rooms and corridors are what they are given the constraints of an older building corridors still have an old school feel Slight odd thing is this is only hotel I've stayed in in 20 yrs that has a locked door policy at midnight ( but can be pre arranged I believe for later)
I was lucky, the hotel Park View was overbooked, my room was cancelled there and I had to change hotels and got the last available room in Ely House Hotel. The was given a room overlooking the car park, which was large, quiet and comfortable. From start of my stay until the end, Claudia, the girl on reception (but also with many other duties) went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. Very friendly. Remembered my name right from the check in throughout the stay. She's a gem, very professional. I can't remember having met a more pleasant and efficient hotel worker before! The hotel should make sure she stays - a real asset.
