Let me warn you right off the bat: This bucket list is not for the faint of heart. But if you’re an adventure junkie and want to experience the depths of love with your partner, you must book one of these heart-pumping activities now. Because who better than your better half to encourage you to camp on the side of a cliff or hold your hand while taking an elephant for a walk?

1. Cage-free shark diving

Since swimming with sharks while you’re propelled in a cage is so yesterday, why not push your limits as a couple and try swimming freely in the blue Hawaiian ocean with sharks, sans cage? These massive creatures have been said to be calm, unless they feel threatened. Our only tip is don’t watch “Jaws” before taking the plunge. Book your adventure with Islandview Hawaii, located on the North Shore of Honolulu.

2. Machu Picchu

As one of the newly discovered Seven Wonders of the World, hiking the 26-mile Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru is definitely one trip you will never forget. There’s nothing like reaching the top of Machu Picchu after a long trek and exploring the ancient ruins while taking in majestic views. Did I mention there are llamas that will take a selfie with you for the price of a bite of your banana? The concierge at the JW Marriott in Cusco will help with booking your four-day trek from start to finish.

3. Heli-skiing

Since taking a helicopter ride or skiing massive cliffs may not be daring enough for you, heli-skiing merges the two for an epic adventure seeker’s experience. Basically, a helicopter will take you to a remote ski area and you’ll have the choice of landing or jumping out of the helicopter to the freshest powder imaginable, leaving your ski soul content. Experience high-flying adrenaline with High Mountain Heli-Skiing during a winter stay at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa in Victor, Idaho.

4. Cliff camping

Yes, cliff camping is exactly what you’re thinking it is and it will surely bring any lovebirds closer together, if only from fear itself. Kent Mountain Adventure Center offers cliff camping excursions in Estes Park, Colorado, where visitors can climb a mountain and then spend the night on the side of a sheer rock face hundreds of feet off the ground.

5. Elephant Rescue

This may not be your average adrenaline-producing excursion, but making a trek to an elephant rescue in central Thailand close to Ch-Am through Animal Experience International where you can feed, bathe and walk an elephant will definitely let you bond with your boo. The sheer size of these gentle giants will leave you in awe.

6. Skydiving

At this point skydiving may seem basic, but it’s worth experiencing once in your life. Whether you’re jumping out of a plane in Costa Rica (guests at Barceló San Jose can book skydiving packages) or right outside of Manhattan at Skydive the Ranch in Gardiner, your free-falling experience is bound to be awesome.

7. Gorilla trekking

Trek Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park to get up close and personal (within 30 feet) to the gorillas that have lived there for eons. Volcanoes Safaris offers a variety of tours that include luxe lodging and gorilla tracking. Not only will you be tracking these ancient creatures, but you’ll also have the opportunity to climb a dormant volcano. Does that count for two check marks on your bucket list?

8. Hang gliding

Soar like seagulls high above the spectacular seaside bluffs of La Jolla near San Diego at Torrey Pines Gliderport. You’ll be tandem hang gliding with an instructor in a non-motorized aircraft that looks like a cross between a kite and a pterodactyl.

9. Hot air balloon ride

Whether you’re flying over New York’s Finger Lakes with Liberty Balloon Company or in Bagan, Myanmar with Balloon Bookers, a hot air balloon ride is the perfect option for couples who are breaking into the adventure scene. While the idea of riding thousands of feet in the air under a balloon may seem a bit nerve-racking, it’s actually quite a magical experience and may be the only adventure on this list where you’ll actually be able to have a relaxing conversation with your honey. Unless you have a fear of heights.

10. Gorge swinging

Gorge swinging is the new bungee jumping. Popular at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and bookable through Victoria Falls River Lodge, your palms will get sweaty just watching YouTube videos of this thrilling excursion where you jump off of a cliff and swing on a rope. You may be solo during the actual jump, but you will need your partner there for moral support.
