A great boutique hotel ideally situated in the heart of old town Zurich. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was the typical size that one would expect for a European hotel. The internet was free and worked well. The amenities included Kiehl's products. Tea, but not coffee, was offered in the room but I was provided instant coffee when requested. Breakfast was ample and quite good. One minor complaint -- Friday night was a bit noisy until 2 AM with a group partying in the outdoor seating / smoking area of the bar located downstairs. Surprisingly, Saturday was comfortably quiet, as were the weeknights of my stay. Would definitely stay there the next time I'm in Zurich -- but would request a room at the back of the hotel off the Roessligasse to avoid the noise pollution from the bar area.
Small cozy hotel is placed in very small street exactly in the center of Zurich, between Grossmunster and Zurich opera, closed to Kunsthaus. The rooms are in two separate building face to face on very narrow street. The rooms are in white color, very light, you have tea facilities and free swiss mineral water. New modern beer in mini bar. Some rooms has a windows to narrow street with shops and bars, others faced to internal courtyard. The breakfast is not so rich, but you have all necessary items: fresh juices, tomatos and cucambers, scrammbled eggs, ham... The only one disadvantage - noise isolation is not so good. Good ratio price/place and comfort according the price level of Zurich.
Great value for money, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into my room. I was in 503,. on the top floor. After a very easy check-in, I went up to my room which was small and cosy but had great details - outlets on both sides of the bed and on the desk, all easy to reach, quite a large, clean and nicely tiled bathroom with Kiehl's bath products (along with slippers, bathrobes and a good hairdryer) and little details like fruit, tea and a water kettle all made the room more comfortable. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold food, newspapers available in a few languages and a lovely lady serving hot drinks.
Firstly the hotel management was very strange when placing the booking, I found a cheaper price on booking.com than what was advertised on the hotel page, so I contacted the hotel to ask if they could match the price and I could book direct. I've done this dozens of times and they have always at least matched it, if not beaten it, and thanked me for the information. Not this hotel! They advised me to book through booking.com and that they couldn't come down from their website price, lol! The hotel is extremely difficult to get to when driving in, so I would recommend parking far away (airport etc) and getting a taxi. We drove in and followed the hotel directions to the nearest parking garage (which charges about 45 CHF per day), and its a 20 minute minimum long and tiring walk with suitcases through the snow, and quite difficult to find at first as the hotel is in a small laneway and there are hundreds of them. If you think that's tough then try doing the same thing when you check out with your suitcases, it turns into a 30 minute weighted mountain climb! As for the hotel itself, the girl on reception was very polite and friendly, the breakfast basic but quaint and adequate, and when we arrived in the apartment itself, (elevator only goes up one level below and you walk the last bit), we were blown away with the it. It's absolutely huge, and done up in a quite modern way, full kitchen area complete with oven etc, 2 showers, 2 toilets, and upstairs mezzaine area which is large with a little deck you can walk out on and lovely views (it was thick snow when we were there). To be honest, even after the walk from the car-park I was already thinking about the superlatives to include in the 5 star review, but then we took our coats and jackets off! After an hour we realised that the place was freezing cold! Cutting a long story short, the central heating doesn't work virtually at all, and we were provided with 1 heater and one air conditioner, which were completely ineffective at heating the space. The following afternoon we received another heater, but this still was completely effective. I took a photo to illustrate that even with central heating at maximum and both heaters directly onto one space, the maximum temperature that could be achieved was 16 degrees centigrade! This is completely unacceptable for even a 2 star hotel, and it meant that we literally had to wear coats and blankets for our entire stay. Since the whole of Zurich is closed on a weekend (which was a big shock), we were forced to spent a lot of time in the hotel, and with hotel room temperatures between 13~16 degrees the whole time it was completely uncomfortable and unlike anything I've ever experienced in a hotel in my life. Despite complaining to staff several times, they apologised but said there was nothing they could do. To make matters worse, half of the electrics in the apartment failed around 10pm on our last night (fridge, tv etc), and the reception is already closed at that time, so we had to wait until 9am the following morning to ask for it to be fixed, the response was that they would have to get an electrician out (even though I'm sure it was just a breaker switch that needed to be flipped), so when we checked out at midday there was still no tv or fridge etc, combined with the freezing cold it made our last morning pretty miserable.
Small but perfect location for visiting the old town. Everything is small in the old town of Zurich, and so is this hotel. The rooms are modern, nicely decorated and adequate in size. If you have a room with windows to the walking street it is difficult to sleep with the windows open, because during the night there is quite a lot of activity in the street. The staff is very service minded, and speak english fluently.
small and cozy hotel just in the heart of old town in Zurich. lovely staff, comfortable and spacious rooms, affordable rates. The Hotel Rossli is a great option to get around Zurich on foot,so well located.
Stayed at the apartment of Hotel Rossli for five nights early December. The apartment had a rooftop deck, spacious, cozy and spotlessly clean. It's a good walking distance to the Central Station and most of the sights. There is a good selection of food for breakfast and the staff is very helpful. This hotel highly recommend.
After two nights in Vals (see other review), we had one night to spend in Zurich. I booked the Rössli kind of randomly because of the perfect location in the old town (a minute from the tramway stop and five minutes from Paradeplatz) but also for the cost of the room. Everything was great. Our room was on the top floor with a partial view of the Limmat river. The room was really quiet, comfortable (though on the smaller side) with a large bathroom. Kiehls products were provided along with a fridge (small selection of drinks) and good wifi (free). Breakfast was also included (buffet). Overall, a very pleasant experience and a great option in Zurich.
Well-decorated design room with highest quality bedding and amenities such as organic tea, well-known complimentary toiletry products and ipad. Wifi given upon arrival. Nice view on top floor, get a real sense of Zurich lifestyle. Breakfast is well-served and nicely displayed.
Very simple, I would choose this hotel again. It is located in the old part of the city, near to the river and close to tram stop 'Helmhaus' on no 4 & 15 route. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The inclusion of a good choice of breakfast is a bonus. The rooms are clean and modern
