Don't let the name put you off. A good location, and very friendly staff. Decent breakfast, basic snacks for dinner. Clean functional bedrooms. The hotel is big, and rooms at the back can feel a bit of a pain to get to , but did not feel busy. Would recommend.
Great location, you can reach anywhere in the city wishing minutes by walk or taxi. Rooms are little small with very limited service. It’s a serviced room type hotel whereby everything is needed to be taken by guest himself. Room does not even have phone to call in case of emergency, for everything you have to go down to the reception and ask for it. No one will help you with you luggage, or iron board if you wish to carry them to your room. No water provided in the room and of course no tea/coffee. You can stay their only because of location.
We were only in Zurich for one night and this spot suited our needs. The sleep quality was a bit better than I was expecting, and the automated blinds were especially nice. The location makes walking to old town, train station, and the like quite easy. The staff was also nice and helpful. All in all, a pleasant stay.
This is a large well organised hotel, which is ideal for an overnight stay en route to somewhere else. In our case it was a short taxi ride back to the main train station. The room was comfortable and the staff efficient.
As this is supposed to be a budget hotel I have to say that the price you pay is exceptionally good for the quality and location. The hotel itself does not look like a budget hotel for sure, the rooms are big enough and there's a fancy bar with outside area. I'll just put two downsides (again, for the price it is not something critical): The check-in was a bit slow as they were not able to handle such a big flow of people and the bathroom not having a separate hair / body gel. Would definitely stay here again.
Check in was a little slow although they were many staff on reception. Room was a standard size. Bathroom was clean but small. More amenities in the bathroom would be good. (Body lotion and shower cap). No tea or coffee making facilities which is not good, we took our own kettle. Nice bar area and outside seating area. Hotel is a 15 minutes walk to Old Town
After my initial check-in experience with Paulo (which I was not pleased with), everything with Motel One Zurich went very well. The room was immaculately clean and even though it was listed as a King room with a queen bed, it seemed fairly small to me. Towels were exchanged daily, beds were made, rooms were straightened. Plenty of restaurants and markets around for easy walking after visiting the Tourist Information center at the main train station. Access to main train station and trams easily as well as walking paths. Plenty of access to everything and back and front doors to the Motel One are available.
We stayed here for Ironman Zurich and we were very happy with this choice. Rooms were comfortable, clean, plenty of room for all our gear. There are plenty of food options nearby the hotel, we are vegan and found plenty of options within walking distance and scooter distance. We often rented electric scooters that you find around the city. The hotel is also only about a 15 minute walk from Lake Zurich. The service in the hotel was impeccable, and they offered transport on the morning of the race. The bar in the hotel is open 24 hours, which was handy to get a cup of coffee at 4am on race morning. Although we were there the last year of Ironman Zurich, we would definitely stay here again.
The location is easily walk-able to Old Town. It is less convenient to the train station unless you know the public transit system. A taxi ride to the airport is 71 CHF.. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet, though sparsely furnished -- one chair and almost no where to put anything, and 2 people cannot pass between the bed and walls. Most of the reception staff were friendly and helpful, but 2 were not. Also, they gave inconsistent information about options to get to the airport, and way under estimated the taxi fare. The continental breakfast buffet is pricey but has many options and is good.
stayed there for two nights in July and had a great experience. It was at the same time as an iron man competition so the hotel was filled with athletes. Clean rooms and a wonderful bar downstairs and within walking distance of main shopping areas... I recommend this hotel. the staff were great as well at check in and check out. Also check out the Gin menu at the bar...
