Sorell Hotel Rütli

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We picked the Rutli for a two day stay in Zurich (which neither of us had ever visited) before to Zermatt for some skiing, and it was a very good choice. The hotel is extremely well situated just on the edge of Old Town (with its restaurants, bars, shops, etc) that is closest (i.e., walking distance even with reasonable amounts of rolling luggage) to the Bannhof. The first impression of the lobby of the hotel is not very pleasing visually, but do not be put off. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is nice, and the rooms are quite spacious for a European hotel of this class, and come equipped with a coffee machine and mini bar, both very welcome for jet lagged travelers. One oddity was that the windows were openable but locked for some reason; however, on request the staff provided a key so we could get a bit of fresh air at night. One thing to note (and it doesn't really have anything to do with the Rutli). We arrived on the Saturday following Ash Wednesday, and even though Lent had already started Zurich's carnival was still in full swing. During the daytime that involved performances in Old Town by some of the oddest cross-dressing brass ensembles I've ever encountered, but the music was fun. On Saturday night, however, the celebration went on until after 2 in the morning, with the bands banging and tootling away at various spots around Old Town and the celebrants whooping like Commanches. Hopefully this only happens once a year.

We stayed here twice, on consecutive Fridays, enroute to St. Anton. We were completely satisfied. The location was great- right in "Old Town" but only a 10 minute walk from Zurich' main train station, which we used to and from St. Anton. It was also very close to many tourist attractions. As far as the hotel itself, it was clean, fairly modern, and quiet. The breakfast was plentiful and high quality. Rooms were not large, but adequate for a couple. Ours had the bed and two armchairs.

Prob the best location for the price for a major city. Bfast included was well stocked And was actually very good unlike the best western junk they have guests scarf on in the us. Rooms clean and good for the quick 2 day biz trip I was here for.

I only stayed two nights not enough to enjoy the spacious room I had. It is the perfect hotel to be near the train station of Zurich. As it is located in the old city that gets very lively at night it can be a bit noisy. Not a big problem as the windows are hermetic.

The reception staff was fabulous. I checked in late in the evening, and they were waiting and ready for me. I was upgraded to a king size room, and given a "late check out". The hotel is located in the Old City, and very close to the train station. It is easily walkable to the station (two blocks) but with luggage, you may prefer a cab. The hotel supplied me with free internet, and guided me through the wi fi security. I was loaned an adapter to charge my phone, and the staff was easily the best I met in Switzerland. Breakfast is included, and was very nice, with lots of homemade breads, jellies, eggs, yogurt and cereals. While pricey, I felt the room was a good value, particularly with the willingness to allow me a late check out without charge.

This was nicely located, close to the train station and also good restaurants, shopping, etc. Not too far from the university.

I like this hotel. Stayed here now 2x. Very good staff (accommodating). Super fast Internet (upload as well). Great location. Rates/value vary but usually for in/out of town can't be beat. Always keep them in mind when coming to ZRH.

Check-in was easy and the staff were really friendly. The room was clean and the amenities were up to par. Great value for your money in an expensive city. If I return I will consider this hotel....

This hotel is in a great location. Very close to the train station and within walking distance of museums and restaurants. The A/C is a bit weak so you may be uncomfortable if it's summer.

great location, super fast Internet (upload as well), easy access to everything. I will return.

good breakfast, great location. rooms is clean and modern.

Everything is wonderful,location,staff.room.food i will stay again in this hotel in the next time thanx for all reciptionests who are more helpful and kind

This is my first time to go to Zurich. I just booked the hotel on my phone. Hotel location is very good. It is easy to go anywhere. very close to the main station. Also, it is close to Limmat river.

Great stay: welcoming staff, comfortable room and great shower. But the real plus is the position, at a short walk from the train station, which is perfect both to go out and also reach the airport quickly.

the hotel location is excellent, near to the main station, shopping area, the lake... the staff is very friendly...the room is so comfotable and its space is very good

Even though it is not next door to railway station, it is just a 5 min walk away so no need to take a bus. Hotel is decent and boutiqueish. Nothing fancy but very clean. The side that is not facing the road is not necessarily that quiet at night since it is not too far from the bar scene.

great location and I got a great price for Zurich.

I was passing through Zurich on one night stay and could have asked for a more perfect location, hotel and staff. Without a doubt, I will be staying at this hotel chain again.
