Family of four with 3 and 6yo. Stayed Mar-2017. Firstly a huge thank you to housekeeping who loaned us a clothes airer! I went to a nearby laundromat, did washing and dried it back in the apartment! Thanks so much. I would highly recommend this for families. The two bedroom apartment we were given was on first floor and was actually two adjoining rooms - a one bed apartment with a kitchen and lounge and a one bed suite with lobby - nonetheless the set up worked fantastically for us. The park down the road was great too. (nb. that we brought a portable cot/crib for the 3yo. Both bedrooms had a queen bed) Blackout shutters - we slept very well each night thanks to pitch black rooms! The noise from the train line did not interrupt our sleep at all. The apartment and had a very spacious living area and wifi was excellent. Staff were very friendly! It is a little out of the way - about a 10min tram ride into the city and the area is a little hipster, but its Switzerland so still nice. We were in Zurich for 3 nights - there is little to see - i would only recommend two if with children and use the extra day in the mountains.
I spent a night at the Hotel Greulich. It is beautifully designed and is really interesting architecturally. It is named after the street in which it is located and the street is named after Herman Greulich, a communist colleague of Karl Marx and a member of the second Internationale. It looks dramatic from front and rear and the room I stayed in, in the courtyard was very comfortable. The hotel is close to tram stops that take you to many of the important location in Zurich including the Hauptbahnhof. The hotel was quiet and the bed comfortable. The hotel will not be to everybody's taste as the rooms are not your normal rectangular rooms but have interesting design features especially in the bathrooms. Staff and the welcome were friendly and the breakfast was excellent in a pleasant restaurant
This unique, less than 30 rooms hotel is a great place to unwind in peace and quiet just moments away from all that Zurich has to offer. If you like staying in more of a residential neighborhood, then this is the place for you. We stayed in Deluxe room 4, which we were led to by the very friendly and helpful front desk staff, just past the birch tree grove. Normally we don't stay in hotels that don't have interior hallways to access the rooms, but I'm glad we made the exception for this one. Our room was off of an open air, protected courtyard that was between the three sides of the hotel. When we return to Zurich, this hotel will be our first choice.
We enjoyed a two-night stay at the Greulich. Walking to the hotel from the station (using the hotel's own directions, which only work if you happen to leave the station somewhere you can see the Post Office building!) was fairly long, but we soon found the hotel, on a corner in a residential area of the city. The modern design was immediately apparent and was one of the reasons we chose this over other cookie-cutter hotels on offer. Check-in was friendly and our room was out the back of the hotel, meaning going outside and through the small forest in the courtyard. The whole place exuded a modernist/industrial/brutalist style from outside and the room continued the theme, we loved it! The room was really something unique, which was great to see, although the somewhat see through bathroom arrangement was unusual. The location was good, 15-20mins level walking along residential streets into the heart of the city (or catch a nearby tram). This hotel was what we expected - something a bit different but well located for the things we wanted to do in Zurich. If you're after a mega-comfy, plush style of place, this isn't the one for you, but if you want a break from the norm to experience something different (and maybe uniquely modern Swiss?!), then it's definitely worth considering.
I'll start this off by saving this is a very "modern" hotel. If thats what you are looking for, I'm sure it's better than 3 stars. We stayed there only one night, which I was happy about because the rooms were not plush, comfy rooms, rather industrial and tech-ie. The room we were in you have to leave the property and walk outside in the courtyard to get to which is annoying in the winter if you want to pop over and ask the staff something, you'll need your coat (it's also a bit creepy at night). The other thing to call out - the bathrooms - if you just started dating someone or arent close to the person you are traveling with, you should know about these. They are like sliding frosted doors, but you can see figures/shapes and hear pretty much everything. So if you like your privacy - know that going into this. The lobby was cool and had a living room area with books/snacks you could buy. The staff was very helpful and kind - they brought over pillows right after we requested some that were firmer. That pretty much covers it!
Modern, beautiful, comfortable rooms with great floor plans and comfortable beds. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great bathtub and toiletries. Free wifi. Close to the bus stop to get to the train station. Within 15-20 minute walk from city center.
I was here on a business trip and had actually planned to stay closer to the trains station, but was pleasantly surprised at how nice the people were here. The bar was a cozy experience with some of the best tapas and drinks I've had.
Stayed at the GREULICH hotel the second time and had very good memories from our last visit. so the expectations were quite high and we were not disappointed. we arrived a bit early and the room was not yet ready... no problem... so we decided to have a late morning breakfast (Sat + sun they have breakfast until 2pm!!!) the choices there were excellent and more than you could possibly eat and drink. The Bircher Muesli is the best I ever had and they prepare eggs as you like them. The room was a superior double with a separate sitting area in the main building. nicely equipped, tea making facilities, nice big shower and a very comfortable bed. Overall one of the best hotel stays this year and I would always go back
This was an amazing place to start our European trip. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It was a great place to come home to after a day out in Zurich. A great dining, area, yoga classes and relaxation areas.
Huge and modern flat, well decorated, everything works and with big windows. Common area is cool and the staff is very kind. Although not in the center, you just have to walk to blocks to get the train to the center. Walking by night not very pleasant if coming from the center
