Had a problem which arose overnight the first night of our stay. The air conditioning unit wasn’t working properly and making a dreadful noise which kept us awake most of the night. We reported it when we came down for breakfast and the lovely receptionist lady dealt with it sympathetically, efficiently and professionally. We were asked to pack up our things, go out and enjoy our day we had planned and when we returned our belongings would be in a new room for us. They certainly were. We were moved and upgraded to a beautiful, room which we were thoroughly delighted with. It was later followed up to ensure that everyrhing was satisfactory. Definitely excellent customer care and service.

Nice hotel - standards slipping

Been staying in the hotel for a number of years now and we do feel that standards are slipping from where they used to be. Uniform used to be a nice shirt and tweed waistcoat, now a scruffy shirt. Breakfast used to be a freshly cooked to order with the best ingredients and a full English. No a buffet type setup with only a select few things cooked. Rooms are looking a little tired. The runner on our bed was covered in stains, bed was covered in hair as was the bathroom. It’s a shame as we love this hotel and come back every year, just hope standards improve should we return.

The room was nicely styled and clean, the staff helpful and accomodated our large vehicle in their carpark. The location is good. The only thing we didnt like was the worn and extremely saggy mattress which didnt make for restful nights and meant we both woke with aching backs.I booked a hotel over an apartment as wanted a firm mattress but this wasn't what the hotel offered.

This is my second Hotel Indigo stay, the last was in Edinburgh for 7 days as well. As a tourist who likes to walk and take in every possible sight, the location in the city center , could not have been better. In addition , it was surrounded by small restaurants offering almost every ethnic food one could think of, as well as many countless traditional pubs. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel every morning, and everything from special coffees, continental breakfast along with the English breakfast as well as any breakfast made to order. The service from the front desk, to the restaurant and housekeeping, could not have been better. Every single member of staff was cheerful and helpful. I very much enjoyed the smart British modern decor, replete with beautiful velvets, tweeds and some very nice millwork. It contributed enormously to the experience. Great job, Hotel Indigo. I loved my York experience.
