The hotel is an easy 10 min walk from train station and right opposite York Minster. We were given a room upgrade on arrival which was lovely. Staff were always smiling and extremely helpful, they went over and above, nothing was too much trouble. The room was spacious and clean with a lovely big bathroom. There was a fridge and safe in the room, free water, tea coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. our room looked over the park opposite. I would have given it 5 stars however our room had no air conditioning so it got quite warm in there, they supplied a fan but I don't think that would cut it in the summer. We had to lift window right up to cool the room down which meant we then had to listen to the noise outside. Other than that we absolutely loved this hotel and the beautiful city of York
We stayed at Dean Court for the weekend. The standard double was comfortable and quite small. The size of the room did not spoil our stay as the room was lovely and hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. We took our car, and although the hotel do not have onsite parking the staff were able to move our car to a secure car park without any difficulties. The location of the hotel was perfect, our view while eating breakfast was York Minster and we were just a stone throw away from shops, pubs and restaurants. When we visit a York again we will be coming back to Dean Court!
We've just returned from 3 days in York. We were actually booked in at another hotel in the city but checked out after one night because it was so bad. We went to dean court and explained our situation, we were there on our 1st wedding anniversary and the staff couldn't have done any more if they had tried. They upgraded us to possibly the best room available in York. They valet parked our car and took our bags up to our room. When we checked in they had left us a card and box of sweets in our room. Nothing was too much trouble and the hotel is immaculate. We had supper in the restaurant and it was extremely nice. As was breakfast in the morning. We will now stop here every time we come to York. Thanks very much
Hotel is very close to minster situated in historic period premises which are visually very attractive. In short the hotel looks fab from the outside and looks the perfect place to stay in York. However when we walked into reception our initial rereaction and impressions were not good. I couldnt help but visualise Ikea when looking at reception and the 'bar' looked a little tacky ?! However these intial concerns were immediately blown out fo thewater ! Staff are wonderful throughout the hotel and focused on making ur Visit/stay special. Dining room is, in my opinion, more sensitive to the style and fabric of the building- yes it is at modern end of spectrum but it works very well here. The food is just wonderful. Bedrooms offer a choice of classic or deluxe rooms and both styles are pleasing on the eye and and are very comfortable and well appointed rooms. All ensuite with reasonable sized bathrooms. Larkong xan be a problem in area vit gotel offers a valet parking service- at a price of course- but parking is very expensive in york for everyone ! So after a wow factor externally and a bit of a shock at reception, we had a memorable and enjoyable stay at hotel.
This is a centrally located hotel which is great for the major attractions in York. For those arriving by car be warned that there is an £18 per night valet parking charge which is almost mandatory in that nearby parking is severely limited. The check in staff were first class and made us feel very welcome and the staff, throughout, were courteous and helpful. We had reserved two double rooms which were identically priced but while one was quite spacious the other was small and cramped. The more spacious room, however, was at the front of the hotel and one had to decide between a cool room with the windows open and more than normal amounts of noise or a room that was way too hot. There was a portable fan in the room but this was quite loud so not really a suitable solution. When will hotels learn that if they provide shampoo and soap in bottles using a plunger they need to be easy to access and not so close to walls as to make getting the liquid a real chore? Mixed feelings really. Like the curate's egg this hotel was good in parts. Not helped at the end by a bill that showed two nights parking for two cars rather than the one we had. Luckily we spotted that but underlines the importance of checking that final bill.
Having been to York on numerous occasions including 5 star on arrival this is by far the nicest hotel that we have had. We came for our daughters 13 birthday which only happens once but we definitely picked the right place to stay. If I was going to be picky I had a minor snagging list with the bath room but its not worth mentioning further after the expert and friendly customer service we encountered during our stay. The staff show a real attention to detail that was effortless and not contrived. They also showed respect for each other while keeping the atmosphere light but still professional it great to see people happy in their work (for a change). Usually when I leave a hotel I can't wait to get back to my own house but was really sorry to leave Dean Court and wished we could stay longer. My daughter also left some jewellery behind, the hotel rang to let us know and posted the item out to us as we were almost home by that point. Can't wait to stay again. I have been in customer service for 20+ years and this was 2nd to none.
We are regular visitors to York but have never stayed at this hotel before. We will DEFINITELY return!! Very welcoming staff, quick and easy check in, lovely spacious bedroom. Wonderfully comfortable bed for a great nights sleep. Overall this is a fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Keep up the great work Dean Court
Excellent location with York Minster being your next door neighbour, very helpful and friendly staff, valet parking which is very convenient and takes the hassle out of parking. All tourist attractions are within walkable distance. Cannot ask for more.. However my only request and suggestion will be to work on the Vegetarian options for Breakfast menu. All the vegetarian options served in a typical English breakfast was mimicking meat like a vegetarian sausage and bacon which most vegetarians don't enjoy.. personally we definitely didn't :( Could you also please look into introducing something like an Omelette with a selection of vegetables which is very popular internationally wherever you travel, perhaps a selection of croissants and pastries etc to keep the selection more wider than what you currently offer. Pancakes may be.. Basically it will be good to have the traditional English breakfast and a few other things as mentioned above... something to consider ??
Visited your and was transferred to this hotel as its sister hotel was been renovated. The staff were very friendly and the room comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and we were made to feel welcome.
The one thing that really stuck out for me was the amazing customer service we received from all staff members. We were coming up from London to go to York races. We called the day before to see if it was OK to leave our bags and if there was a toilet we could get changed into. When we arrived to York we walked the short walk to the hotel. We went to reception and were told that they remembered our conversation and that they had tried to get one of our rooms ready. They checked us all in and had one of the rooms ready for us to get ready in. The rooms were lovely. The bed was really good too. I stayed in a room next to the lift but there was no noise at all from it. My room was facing the back into a little paved area where there was some air conditioning units. They were a little noisy but once the window was shut you couldn't hear anything. Checking out was easy. I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in York.
