Stayed here for one night with my beautiful girlfriend. We had an amazing stay! Firstly, we was greeted very nicely by both reception and the lovely chap who parks your car took our bags up to the room before parking our car. The room was beautiful and spacious, it had a lovely bay window that overlooked the street. Breakfast next morning was additional but was very tasty. The location was so close to everything that it's just ideal. We will definitely be returning here at some point
Lovely, updated hotel. It is literally across the street from the impressive, grand York Minster. 10 minutes walk from shopping areas, restaurants & entrance to wall walk. Room was spacious, bed comfy. The staff was very friendly & helpful. Highly recommend.
I last went to this hotel in 1976! From arrival to departure our NYE stay could not be faulted. The staff in every department were exceptional. A five course black tie dinner had choices! Starters of tea smoked venison or smoked salmon , consomme; the beef main was a huge portion and excellently cooked as was the monkfish. The lemon posset had a real zing and the espresso and kahlua parfait was terrific. Also if one had room here was a super cheese plate. Being so close to the Minster meant that midnight was spent outside with the city revellers to the sound of a peel of bells! Memorable We had been told our room (31) would be small, and indeed it was but the bathroom had a great bath! With an 9 - 11 breakfast, there was a mature attitude towards check out! There is no car park, but with an excellent valet car parking service which lasts for the day of departure there was a fabulous opportunity to walk the walls and get rid of the cobwebs. Superbly positioned for a stay in York any visitor would have a great stay at any time of the year.
My Husband and I spent the weekend here at this hotel, the room was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful with a very powerful shower with a rainfall head and a separate head for hair washing. The Hotel is well located right in the heart of the City and close to all the shops and the beautiful York Minster. We paid for the Valet Parking which was great as we simply handed the car over on arrival and it was waiting for us at check out. The Bar was comfortable and the drinks reasonably priced. The Breakfasts were superb and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The reception staff welcomed us with true hospitality. The member of staff who carried our suitcases to our room took great pains in ensuring that we know how to use all the fascilities - maybe he was over enthusiastic but we appreciated his expertise when he unlocked our safe at a later stage as we thought we wouldn’t see our iPads again ! Breakfast include a wonderful choice. I tried the eggs Benedictine but I could have had kippers or salmon and endless coffee. The hotel faced the Minster in York and was just a short walk from the town centre. We enjoyed our comfortable room and hope to return.
Went there for our work Christmas lunch - it was busy as other people had the same idea too! With several large tables to serve plus a few smaller ones, the waiters did an amazingly good job. The food arrived hot and beautifully presented and we all got our right orders. Three courses for around £20 at Christmas was a good deal and the food was excellent. Well done!
Firstly, this hotel is in a superb location; it is close to shops and nightlife. The views are beautiful with the cathedral right on the doorstep. The service at the hotel was excellent and nothing seemed too much effort; to taking our bags, valet parking and ensuring our room was to satisfaction we couldn't have asked for more. The only thing to be aware of is if you want to sleep in you've got no chance. The room was very noisy. We could hear the people above showering and each turn of the tap and then the church bells were ringing quite early. Our early wake up call allowed us a few hours to wander around York before check out - every cloud!
Very very nice hotel right opposite York Minster. Traveling with my husband and 11 year old son. We had a family room on the first floor with 1x queen bed and a pull out sofa bed in a separate nook. Great array of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room with free biscuits too. Room very comfortable, very clean. Room very hot with central heating, but staff told us how to turn it off which helped. Bathroom well equipped, but lighting a bit dim. A light above the mirror would be good. All staff very friendly and helpful. Used valet parking and they were very kind and didn’t seem bothered when we needed to access the car a few times. Breakfast was provided at a reduced rate of £10 pp for in house guests which included full continental buffet then your choice of hot options and there were many options to choose from. It was lovely eating breakfast looking out the window at the Minster. The Dean Court is not a cheap place, but the experience is wonderful and I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic hotel! Made to feel really welcome. Concierge service that park your car for you and bring it back on departure. The staff are fantastic and ensure that everything you need is provided. Room was spotless, great size with a nice bathroom and the views of the minster were superb. Didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar area is very nice and the menu looked great. Would recommend staying here!
I booked a beautiful double room as a surprise for my husband on the 29th December he loves York. Sadly due to where we live the snow was so bad and taking advice not to travel I rung the Dean Court Hotel and asked if I would be able to change my booking to another date, quite prepared to pay a small cancellation fee the answer was no there was nothing they could do. I had paid an extra £38 for breakfast and parking at a later date. They blamed it on booking.com who I then contacted who said it would be at the hotels discretion. This is meant to be a 4 * hotel and very expensive which I saved for. I found them unhelpful and dis interested, I would have expected the breakfast and parking to be refunded at least. Another set of money orientated establishments who care not for their patrons except what’s in their pockets. York has some beautiful hotels take your pick but I’d give this a miss.
