My wife and I live not far from York but decided to stay overnight so we could celebrate my wife's birthday. We arrived prior to checking-in, we were welcomed by a team of smiling and helpful staff, handed our bags and car keys over and off we went to sight- see and shop. After several hours we returned and check-in our bags were already in our room (14) which overlooked the front of the hotel with a view of the Minster, the hotel had left a birthday card and a small gift of sweets I had organised a bottle of prosecco which sat in a ice bucket on the side. The room was well presented not huge but had everything needed a lovely en-suit shower room. We had already booked a table elsewhere in York so did not eat in but when we used the restaurant for breakfast we were greet by Bosco and shown to a table for looking out onto the Minster, we checked-out leaving our luggage and car keys so we could continue looking round York at our leisure eventually going back mid afternoon to collect our luggage and car keys, the car had been valet parked in a secure park we had a short wait until Frank brought our car to the front of the hotel loaded our luggage into our and off we went.
My husband and I are frequent visitors to York, usually staying in a B&B which is a 10 minute walk outside of the city centre. As it was our anniversary we decided to treat ourselves to a stay at Dean Court, and in all fairness it wasn’t much more to stay here. The location is first class and to our surprise we had a room with a view of the Minster. The room was classed as a cosy room but was a very good size, well equipped and very clean. The bed was lovely and comfortable. The only negative about our stay was the room was overly warm despite the radiators being off. We slept with the window open and there was a fan available. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. Although we didn’t partake in dinner, but only as we had reservations elsewhere, the menu looked very appetising and was good value. We had a great stay and would definitely return.
What a fantastic location right opposite The Minster, beautiful Hotel perfect location for visiting all the main sights. The Hotel excellent all the staff, pleasant, professional, helpful rooms very nice, clean superb breakfasts, all that you would expect from a 4*. We went for 2 days to celebrate my birthday which my husband mentioned to the receptionist, when we went back to our room after being out for the day, there was a birthday card pushed under the door, what a lovely touch. If anybody is planning a visit to York this is the place to stay.
Location, location, location! We were so happy to have booked the Dean Court for our 2-day stay in York. As we only traveled by train or taxi during our UK tour, our ability to jump right into sight-seeing on foot was key. And we were only steps away from just about everything you'd want to see in this city. Staff was very helpful upon arrival (and also in the adjacent restaurant). The room was large by European standards, although the bathroom was rather compact. Wi-fi not great, nor was the television programming. Tiny elevator (for one, plus luggage) available, but if you're claustrophobic, you'll want to take the stairs. The breakfast offered by the restaurant was very good (and in our case was included in price of the room --check when making your reservation).
Firstly the location can’t be beat, 100 yards and your in the heart or the city Room was very clean and comfortable Reception very professional and helpful Valet parking was £18 but that pretty much lasts till 10 pm following night Breakfast if not included in the rate is discounted to £10 per person We never used the hotel bar Will 100% use again
Very central as opposite York Minster. I asked if it would be possible to have a room with lift access and it was changed immediately. However, the new room faced a large extractor fan on a neighbouring building that ran all night and kept me awake much of the night. I mentioned this in the morning, feeling guilty, and Rebecca, a reception manager could not have been kinder. She understood and managed to change things for me so that I was given a delightful room. Rebecca listened, understood and banished any anxieties I had. Thank you Rebecca and thank you Dean Court.
Excellent Hotel, the staff were brilliant, efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them, it made it such a happy hotel to stay at! The breakfast was great and plenty to eat, as were all meals in the restaurant! The hotel is right opposite York Minster and in a superb position to explore York. The room was superb, quiet and spotlessly clean has was the bathroom and the bed was very comfy, we had no trouble sleeping!
We stayed here for two nights. This hotel is in a great location and is an easy walk to all the major sites. Hotel is very clean and rooms are spacious and provide excellent value. Only complaint is that we should have stayed longer!
Just returned home from a weeks visit to York, to say we had a great time is an understatement! My Mother is quite elderly and has mobility issues but all the staff and facilities were excellent, nothing was too much trouble even supplying us the use of a wheelchair. We love this hotel very much and hope to return next year! To all the fantastic staff thank you all very much indeed you have made our stay stress free!
Very upset. We are here on some personal al business and to celebrate my partner and his birthday. This was arranged last minute and therefore was very expensive. Everything looked great when we arrived - the room was clean and comfortable. However on our second day (today), our toilet seat broke. It literally lifted away in my hands. Obviously these things happen, and so we reported it to reception as we left at midday. Upon returning at 5pm nothing had been done, and nobody had any record. By 5pm on a Saturday, they claimed there was nothing they can do, and they didn’t have any rooms they could move us too. As a mobility impaired person booking an accessible room, it’s important to have a working toilet seat. However, I am not one to make a fuss, and so we accepted their offer of a small treat (a bottle of wine) with dinner. Unfortunately, that meant house wine and a choice between red or white. And honestly? The wine was appalling. Normally I wouldn’t want to complain about free wine - but this was already meant to be an apology. A £4 bottle of cheap plonk for the fact that we cannot use our bathroom for its purpose... starts to seem to us like we are being taken advantage of. I definitely should have pushed for a refund. The quality of the food was, In all honesty, pretty “meh”. It wasn’t bad, but with undercooked lentils and bringing out potato when we ordered carrots (leading to our side dishes arriving just as we finished the food on our plates) - it just added to the “fawlty towers-esque” ambiance. Look, I’m sure that this hotel is fine when things are going right. They have a lot of high reviews. But when things go wrong, they come across as amateurish. And in this case it managed to sour a birthday weekend. Bitterly disappointed.
