Stayed here many times for short breaks. Great location for the city centre and railway station.Excellent selection for breakfast though I did find that some of the hot items were not very hot. Rooms are decent size and nice and clean but I do find them to bit a bit on the warm side and the air conditioning is too noisy to have on all night. Overall great Hotel and would recommend. We will stay here again.
Small space, but well layed out. Room is insulated against outside noise. My room sort of overlooked the late night revelry across the street, but I could barely hear it. Hotel is very well located, minutes away from the train station. Every site within the old Roman walls were 10 to 15 mintes walk away. Easy access to one portion of the wall at Micklegate Bar. Some rooms do have a view of the wall. Although the breakfast items being offered did not change, there was a wide enough variety that you could have something different each day. Unfortunately, I found their porridge to be excessively gummy. It was the consistency of the Hawaiian dish called "poi" (I.e. wallpaper paste). There was quite a bit of construction of a new building next door, but as I was out and about most of the day, the construction did not affect my experiences at the hotel. I would definitely stay here again should I return to York and recommend this hotel with no hesitation.
This hotel has a great location - close to the station and the city centre. The staff made it easy for us to drop our bags as we arrived in the morning and likewise leave them after we checked out. That meant we could enjoy our time in York without worrying about our luggage. The staff were very friendly and really helpful. This is the same each time I have stayed at this hotel. The rooms are modern and clean. It also seems very quiet despite clearly being busy. A great option for families and couples
Booked in for one night. Lovely helpful staff very nice and clean good size room very quiet. Great help your self breakfast can not fault the hotel at all. Will definitely stay here again when in York.
Having booked a two night stay I can confirm that this place is recommended. Breakfast is very good with self service for a full English. Rooms were spotless and fresh towels provided daily or when needed. Make use of the local NCP CAR PARK which is a five minute walk and obtain a 35% discount when checking out. Ideal location to explore the city. Only one negative point to make. One of the male night staff is quite abrupt and would benefit from a charisma transplant. Not the most friendly and obliging of characters . Apart from this, yes I’d start there’s again in the future. Not a very cheap hotel to stay in but York isn’t a cheap place due to its popularity
The hotel is a short walk from the station. At first the street looked a bit dubious, but not really a problem. The hotel, a modern building in a street with very old buildings, is very well located and it was very easy getting around York from there The check in was friendly. The room a very good size, very clean and comfortable. Good wi fi Breakfast is buffet style, good choice All in all an excellent stay
We visited York for 2 days and stayed at this hotel. It was clean and modern and the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was buffet style and lots of choices. The location was perfect, with all York’s attractions within easy walking distance. Parking was at a nearby NCP and the hotel stamps the ticket to give a discount. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good base to explore York.
I don't usually give chains a five rating here--the corporate approach is to make them all alike. Here, however, I was quite impressed. First, the staff was faultless, and it was a stay where my wife and I were a little needier than usual. Second, the room was generous and comfortable. The window has a view of part of York's ancient city wall. Finally, the food and drink options cannot be beat. There is an on-site restaurant where you may enjoy a full bar and a good range of menu items. The ones we had--baked camembert, a baked potato loaded with chili and cheese (the chili "just" spicy enough)--all prepared excellently, But the star of the show--your complemeentary breakfast. After a month of travelling through hotels where breakfast was complementary but cheap--or it cost 12 Euros and was still often not good--maybe I impressed easy, but there's a buffet with an enticing array of every type of breakfast food. We could get a full English fry-up with real (not bagged) scrambled eggs, great potato tots, beans, bacon, sausages. Yogurt cups, cold cereal, pastries, fruits--heavenly. The location was my primary reason for booking this hotel--an easy walk from the rail station. I hope to return to York on day and when I do I'll be booking here primarily for the quality.
A good option in York. Price a little high. But room is neat n tidy n very clean. Shower good. Bed Comfy. Helpful n friendly front desk team. Breakfast of decent quality. Room quiet at night. View of construction not so great but little noise.
This is our second visit to this hotel and if anything it was better than last time. The location is great for getting into town and the staff are really helpful. Nothing seems t be too much trouble for them and the breakfast is really good. A great choice and the hot foot is fresh and hot. Well done
