Lovely hotel but location would work better if using an uber rather than thinking you can walk dragging your luggage. With construction and cobbled roads and hills it was not a very pleasant experience. It is more like 25 minutes walk if you don’t want to be dripping in sweat. Great room and breakfast was great.

From the train station turn left and walk to the gate under the wall. From there go through the black gates of city offices and then turn right up the rise. There is no ‘back door’ to access the property

This property is convenient to the train station, the wall, and walking around the city. Our room was in the basement(!), and it was comfortable. The bathroom was quite narrow and small. Happy hour specials are fantastic, and we enjoyed that. Breakfast was a zoo, but it had all the typical offerings. The gym was a good size with good equipment offerings. Wifi was strong for streaming.

Loved Hampton by Hilton in York. Looks new, extremely clean, wonderful staff, loved the big hot breakfast included. A very short walk to the train from London and a short walk to wonderful restaurants and attractions such as The Shambles.

Cons-located at top of a hill-have to park on busy street to unload luggage and then park in paid parking or find parking on the street; no luggage racks or places for luggage in rooms-asked for luggage racks-they had none-placed our luggage on counter tops, chairs and on the floor; asked for check out one hour later at noon-front desk staff refused even though we are Hilton members; rooms are small-we had two twin beds Pros-Breakfast buffet-included eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, yogurt, juice, pastries, breads, etc; walk-in shower rather than the extra tall European tub; beds were O.K., but not great; room was clean We would not stay here again or recommend this hotel. I nearly got run over by a vehicle speeding down the street. Vehicles race down the road next to the hotel. I was trying to cross the street to enter the hotel after visiting York Minster.

The room was clean although the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The employees were all very nice and helpful. York is very walkable so we could walk to many area restaurants and shopping. Parking is down the street in a nearby parking garage. It is not free. The breakfast was adequate, typical breakfast that is made served everywhere but it was fresh and the dining room was clean.
