Lovely couple of days in York - the hotel is close to the city centre, easily walkable, and since the weather was fantastic we were able to eat breakfast and dinner out on the terrace each day. The room was comfortable, though we weren’t able to have the room type booked since it wasn’t accessible to my partner, who was on crutches. However the room we ended up with was fine, and had a wonderful bathroom!

The hotel is a short walk from the mainline station and also has paid for on-site parking as well. Because everything in York is so central, this is an ideal spot for not driving or even not needing public transport. The staff loved 'Teddy' and seem to be recruited for their four-legged enthusiasm. The room included basket and blanket and was prepared for Teddy. There are plenty of easily accessible outside spots to do the necessaries. That said, for those visitors who are not interested in dogs, I would say that you won't know that the odd dog may be staying! Food was super, both in the restaurant at night and also breakfasts... with the world's best granola. Quite frankly, it's worth going in just for breakfast even if not a resident! (Q: Is this made by chef locally or a national item?). All the staff were lovely, so friendly and helpful, too. If I sound ridiculously positive, I am!

We just had a one night BB & EM package on our way further North. The room was a little dark and a bit of road noise but very nicely appointed and well equipped. Lovely bathroom products, French of course. Thought there was only a coffee machine but we found a kettle etc in the fridge cupboard. Surprised that our hand basin was cracked, crazed even. Had a very good evening meal in the Bistro and were pleasantly surprised that the 3 course table d’hôte had great choices, included in our package, so we didn’t need to go to the extra expense of having to chose from the A la carte. The Bistro supervisor was very pleasant and knowledgeable and nothing was too much bother for her. Breakfast service was not quite as good but choice and freshly cooked food made up for that. Overall a nice stay and although the central position of the hotel makes it easy to walk to many other city eateries we really enjoyed the Bistro and had no regrets at having booked the package. Only negative is the £10 cost of parking for a day. This is not a cheap hotel and that nearly put me off booking but having stayed at and enjoyed other Hotel du Vin establishments we decided to give them the chance.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, cooked breakfasts are cooked to order and very tasty, lots of choices also made it enjoyable. The hotel rooms are quite dark and depending on location you had to keep the blind closed for privacy, this made it even darker. The location is great with a 10/15 minute walk into the centre and the attractions and lots of bars and restaurants. Be very careful where you park your car as it is difficult not to park under a tree, this gives the pigeons target practice or you can get a very sticky sap from the trees. Lots of hotels are now jumping on the bandwagon and charging to park your car, whilst £10 per night is cheaper than some it still feels like a rip off and I personally feel a charge that is unnecessary, especially when you pay £200 pounds a night or there about. I would stay here again though as the minor issues do not spoil the stay.

Stayed one night and was happy with our choice of hotel. Arrived late evening, the reception staff were great, warm & friendly service. We were the last ones in the dining room - great service by the humorous supervisor. He is a credit to the team. Breakfast team were very different - robotic, unsmiley and forgetful. Tiny things matter, and it upsets customers if they feel they need to impose on staff to ask for basics - eg, milk for tea/coffees, teaspoons, the right breakfast order to be delivered. Positives - good location for racing. Nice rooms. Good food. Helpful reception. Big car park. Negatives - pillows too soft. Few unsmiley staff.

Stayed here for 2 nights paid for an upgrade which was to the belle suit. The room was amazing with two baths, large shower and massive bed. We had room service which was tasty, reasonably priced and came quickly. The hot breakfast is cooked to order so it's always fresh and hot. There is a continental buffet as well which is perfectly reasonable. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from York city centre-this means it is quiet at night. Parking was £10 a night on the hotel property which I think is in line with other cities in the UK. The staff are really friendly, especially Rosie who checked us in. This is the 2nd time we have stayed first in their standard room last time in their suite and I cannot fault the hotel.

We have stayed in hotel du vin in various cities in the UK and generally have nice rooms with all of the modern facilities. The rooms in York are very good and are stocked with lovely little extras (for a price). The food is generally good but a little over priced and the price on the menu is then bumped up with a % increase for service. (every time I stay I point out that they state 20% VAT is included in the bill but the amount is not 20%.???) There is parking at the hotel for £10.00 per night and the hotel is walkable from the train station plus the hop on hop off bus goes right past the front of the hotel.

We had one night here. It's well located for sightseeing the old town and has parking. The staff particularly the two guys behind the bar providing advice, directions and maps. We took dinner and breakfast and both were good. The bed ,linens and towels were of great quality. The room was nice if a little dark due bulbs out. It turned out to be a disabled friendly room so the wet room had various things we didn't need and got in the way a bit particularly in the shower. We'd definitely stay again but not in this kind of room.

We stayed at Hotel Du Vin for one night. We arrived to find out that they had now began charging £10/day for car parking which never used to be or wasn’t advertised on their website. The room was decent although noisy at times with the air conditioning very noisy. Overall the stay was adequate but overpriced for what we received and probably will not return.

We booked the hotel for our anniversary and were delighted to find we had been upgraded to a junior suite. It was lovely. The shower was absolutely huge and very powerful. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. A slight criticism would be that there was a wonderful coffee maker but no kettle so we couldn't make tea. However, everything else was perfect. Toiletries were good quality. Breakfast was large and there was a very good selection. I thoroughly enjoyed my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. There was a lot of salmon. Fresh fruit was served in little jars and was just the right amount. The bar was good and staff were very friendly. Glasses of champagne were reasonably priced and all the wines can be bought by the glass.
