My husband will live at the Intercontinental hotel for the next 3 months for business. I came to visit him for a few days and wanted to use the spa service. I am pregnant so I am aware I am not allowed to get a body massage. I live in Shanghai and go to Dragonfly salon often. They allow me to get a foot message, head/neck/shoulder message, and facials. Other spas/message venues in Shanghai allow the same. Today I had an appointment for a "Thai pedicure" at 1:00pm. I made my appointment the day before. I waited all day for my appointment only to be informed at 1:00pm that pregnant women are forbidden from getting a facial or foot message. I was told pregnant women are forbidden from all spa services at the hotel. This is the most rediculous thing Iv ever heard of. If it was a Chinese cultural thing I would respect it but it's not. It's unbelievable that an international hotel chain would ban pregnant women from its spa and wait to tell that person till the time of their appointment. I went to the mall across the street to get my nails done but they were booked for the whole day. It was also too late to go to the cultural places I could have gone too instead. I would love to know if the rule about the spa is made up my the spa manager or is the policy of the hotel. If the Chinese people at reputable establishments in Shanghai agree that some services are OK for pregnant women why does this hotel ban pregnant women. It's not like giving me a facial is gonna make the baby pop out. There are plenty of things pregnant women cannot do and using the spa shouldn't be one of them. This hotel chain needs to review their spa policy about pregnant women and realize that banning them is very unfair.
I have stayed 5 nights for business trip. And I decided to move other hotel due to several factors. I will not opt this hotel in this area anymore. Room: They assigned 70m2 large room since I am Platinum Ambassador member. It was just simply large room. Not my favorite taste. Bed: Little bit firm but very comfortable to sleep for me. Bathroom: Separated toilet, shower room and deep sink. Really smell of smoke especially in toilet. I am very disappointed previous customer smoked and never refreshed. The smell never gone during my stay at all. Internet: At very early morning, connection is not stable. Massage Spa: The worst technique ever and she tried to charge me, 698RMB/60min, 998RMB/80min or 1598RMB/90min. I only tried for 60 min then I will not try again. Breakfast: I am small eater but there are multiple food stations. The trick was juice station is located at entrance so don't missed to pick it up when you are being seated. The breakfast is the only position impression in this hotel compare with other similar hotel. Restaurant: I and my coworker visited Aoi Japanese restaurant since staff at entrance explained that All you can eat price us including free Sake, Japanese wine, but after we were seated, another staff said, "Only local beer is including" then finally they said "No drink is included so you must pay separately as regular price if you need Sake". I was so disappointed and exhausted the discussion. All of food what we ordered were good taste but staff respond was really bad. I will not visit this restaurant again.
I have to say, this is an amazing hotel. The decor and the rooms are absolutely immaculate and clean. The staff is very polite and warm. The best of all is that they all speak English. They have an amazing choice of food. I would recommend the buffet during dinner. I will be visiting China quite often for business and i can confirm that this is the hotel i'll always be staying at. Thank you Intercontinental Wuxi, you've made my stay memorable. Also, they have an ATM which is brilliant considering it's difficult to find one in China. And taxis are always available.
Stayed here for a couple of nights while on business, and I have no complaints. Room on the 28th floor overlooking the park was big, spacious with a nice view. Gym is not as big as I was expecting but still had a bit of everything and wasn't too busy. The pool looked very nice but I resisted the urge to dive in. Breakfast was good, the service was excellent and they had plenty of veggie options at dinner. Roughly a 15minute walk to some of the more touristy sites in the city like the Nanchang Street, Qianming Bridge, or the Nanchun Temple. And about the same to the Wuxi Mosque along the Huancheng River. All in all a nice stay. The hotel staff were a particular plus point and very eager to be of service.
I spent two nights during a business trip. The stay was excellent. No problem at all. I had not time to try the gym or the swimming pool, so I cannot comment on that. The lobby bar was good for a beer and even dinner: I didn't expect much from the steak, but it was excellent (it took a while to get it, but the wait was worth it). I also tried the Japanese restaurant (by miracle, as we went at about 9:30 pm, right before last order). It is excellent. Stop. The room was big and nice, my bed too. Breakfast was varied and good. Internet connection was easy and good. I would say that I found what I expected at an Intercontinental hotel, but a very reasonable price.
but still a very nice hotel which is quite budget friendly, I didn't sleep there, just saw the room and spent a day in the meeting rooms. Not the most modern hotel , but to European standards still very good
This is a wonderful hotel. The concierge services are really the best. They were so helpful for me. I guess the two main issues I would have is that I would expect anyone working at the front desk to speak English. It was surprising that this was an issue at times. The other main issue is that I would expect a hotel like this to have a Spa on site. They did but it was closed. If I wanted a massage, I would have to go outside of the hotel, so this is definitely disappointing for an InterContinental. The food at the hotel is very good, and if you are able to take advantage of the Lounge, then it is well worth it. For Breakfast there, you can order omelettes and even Belgian Waffles. I had some issues with my air conditioning, but overall they took care of it. They gave me a fan so it helped. So, really, this is a 5-star hotel but because of the issues, I just couldn't give it all 5 stars. I certainly would stay there again if I needed to be in Wuxi, and I would recommend this hotel.
Locates close to metro, around with shopping mall and food plaza. wonderful place to rest after meetings, a big park just right in front of hotel. Facility in hotel is good, good swimming pool, room is clean, big and good view. WIFI in room is fast and reliable. Breakfast is nice with plenty of choice and good service.
Services beyond expectation as used to stay at different brand hotel for business or leisure, but this Intercontinental was above what could be expected. Smile and the eagerness to offer assistance everywhere in the hotel from concierge, front desk, housekeeping and F&B outlet. Was offer a free upgrade and the room is spacious for two and amenities were well set. Range of choices for breakfast. Value for money not only for business but leisure.
This hotel is nice - it's a 5 star afterall - but I spent two sleepless nights because the room was stuck on one temperature. You couldn't make it cooler. I requested a room change but they advised me that it was the same in all rooms. They did lend me a fan. My traveling colleague also had the problem of being given the key to two different rooms - each with people already not them! (A surprise for all parties involved.) To be fair, the hotel were apologetic. All up, and ok but not great stay. Below the usual standards of the Interncontinental.
