The Fort Garry Hotel is a beautiful historic building in downtown Winnipeg. It is within walking distance of some beautiful park areas and The Forks. The building is well kept, the rooms are comfortable, clean and very quiet. Great dining experience.

We stayed at the Fort Garry to celebrate our engagement. Our experience was truly so disappointing and quite terrible other than a very kind staff member who offered to take our picture. Firstly, there was no microwave or fridge or tub in our room. For $242 a night I’d expect a mini fridge at the least. Next, the parking at the hotel was full so we were instructed to park at Fort Garry Place which was a nightmare to get into the hotel after parking. We arrived back at our room at midnight only to find our key card not working. We went to the front desk and they gave us a new key. Which of course did not work either. We waited for security to come to our floor and informed us the battery was dead on our lock. We finally went into our room that was now unlocked and got to bed. Our room was so hot all night and the thermostat would not work to cool the room off. We barely slept the whole night and the one blanket on our bed was so heavy which made the hot temperature way way worse. When we were leaving to get back to our vehicle parked at Fort Garry place we could not get into the skywalk that connected the buildings because we needed a room key to leave the building. We did not have a room key because they took them when we checked out. What kind of backwards is that? How do they expect people to get out of the building after check out if they take the room key? We will never be back.

Good clean hotel with historic charm. Rooms are on the older side but in very good condition. A bit loud if your room is near the elevator or facing Broadway during the winter while they are plowing the street. Would stay again.

The hotel was terrific. I lived in Winnipeg 40 years ago and the Fort Garry was fabulous then and it was still fabulous after all those years. The bed and the pillows were like sleeping on clouds. In fact the pillows were so good we’re ordering a set when we get back home.
