Three adults and one teen were travelling for a NASCAR weekend. We booked a 2 bedroom suite with 3 beds, 2 bathroom and a pullout sofa. When we arrived it was NOT available. They offered two rooms each with a pullout sofa. We asked that each adult have a bed. So we had 3 rooms all in different areas of the hotel.Upon check out our bill was about $115 MORE than what we had booked. We went to the desk and the young lady told us she couldn't do anything to change rates. We had to deal with a manager who would be in later. We were very frustrated and unhappy. I went to finish packing and the desk called and said a manager was in. I absentmindedly zipped up my bag took my stuff to check out and talk with manager. Karen was great about the bill and reduced by about $125. On the way home I remembered in my anxiety I had NOT finished packing!!! I immediately called. This was a nightmare to get answers and returned phoned calls. They have a system called chargerback to log and claim your items. I was only able to log items. Never received any info thru that systems that items were found. Another manager, Sabriya was extremely difficult to deal with; rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. Finally I contacted Karen again about the ONE out of 5 items that was waiting to be returned. She had it sent immediately. All this took from June 5-July 17!!! Still not sure how only one out 5 items in the same dresser was found :/ Property and rooms are wonderful, employees leave a lot to be desired. I hope Karen gets to hire some better people soon!
Awesome Hotel. I stay here when visiting family periodically, and they are incredible. The staff is always helpful and friendly. In fact I was able to cancel a reservation inside the 24 hr window after i had forgotten to call them. Thanks Karen, your the best!!
I was scheduled to take a seminar in the Newark area and had reserved a room at the Staybridge Suites-Wilmington/Newark that was deemed a non-refundable rate. Two weeks before the seminar was due to start I received an email informing me that the seminar had been cancelled. I called the Staybridge Suites office and to my great surprise they cancelled the schedule stay for me with no charges to my account. This is not something that happens often. I was very pleased with their desire to work with me and would gladly schedule my next, or any stay, with them when in the area.
Sabriya and the staff where awesome went above and beyond everyday I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm upset I have to leave the family environment they provided me. . but will will return in the future. PLEASE come and stay here this place never disappoints
The entire staff went above and beyond everyday we loved our stay there had such a awesome stay which I didn't have to leave .They have a great operations manager that always showed amazing service and spoke to me and really cared about our stay each and every day
I went with friends to enjoy the Dover International Speedway NASCAR race that weekend. We had some mild troubles with not receiving the room we ordered and they accommodated us with adequate rooms for our trip. I spoke with the General Manager upon check out and she was most helpful with our statement. Karen is the best! Ask for her!! Thank you Karen
Booked a king suite at this hotel over a month in advance. Upon arrival was charged the wrong room rate after showing the confirmation email. Even though I booked a king suite when we got to the room it was a smaller queen room. Called the front desk and was told I shouldn't have booked it through a third party and was very rude. In fact the room was booked directly with the hotel as an IHG member with a confirmation email send directly from the hotel. Asked to speak with the manager Sabrina Mc Duffy who was just as rude and said they gave our room to someone else and there was nothing she could do but give us 10% off the room. Was the worst night ever in a hotel would not recommend.
My friends and I stayed for 2 nights for a girls getaway. It is really close to the University of Delaware and there's a great main street with tons of restaurants and shops. We had a great lunch outside on the patio at one of the many restaurants. There are also plenty of places to shop. Christiana mall is one exit up Rt. 95 and there are other stores and chain restaurants close to the hotel. There's an Acme right there too so if you wanted to buy food for your room, it's really close (walking distance). The hotel was very nice and our room was clean and comfortable. We had a king bed and pull out sofa bed which I didn't sleep in but my friend said it wasn't really comfortable (that's sort of what you expect from a sofa bed though). Overall the hotel is great! The staff was really friendly. They are doing a renovation so the lobby is pretty much nonexistent. That didn't bother me at all because I am not in a hotel to hang out in the lobby. The woman at the front desk told me that the renovations should be done in a week or so which means if you're staying soon, it should be done and I'm sure it will be lovely! My main disappointment and the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the hotel advertises a hot breakfast and while they did provide "breakfast", it was no replacement for what I typically find at a Staybridge Suites. They offered cold cereal, yogurt, and muffins/danishes. I was really bummed because I always enjoy sitting and eating some nice hot eggs and sausage when I stay away in a suite hotel. I wish I had known that and I wasn't told at check in that it wasn't going to be a hot meal. Other than that, and now that the renovations should be complete (in the lobby area anyway) you will enjoy your stay here!
Thankfully, most is of my reviews have been positive, but to me...there is no excuse for this... had a reservation for a few months and an IHG Rewards member. Original reservation was for two nights. We changed our reservation to one night well within the cancellation day/time. When we arrived at 1:30 pm (early to see if room was possibly ready) we were told it wasn't yet...no big deal. Then we found out our 2 bed, separate bedroom suite was not available. In exchange they were putting us in a king studio room. No thank you! That's not what we reserved and we had a written confirmation as well. The lobby was all walled off in plastic due to renovations, so that is still going on. To me this is horrible customer service. The girl behind the desk was very polite about it and the person I talked to on the phone was equally apologetic, but they couldn't do anything. They cancelled my reservation without penalty and we checked into another local hotel. Won't be back. Too many other choices in the area.
Tis the season for many hotels to be going through renovations. This property is upgrading their lobby and breakfast area although they do provide alternative accommodations. I've stayed here previously and found their staff very nice and helpful each time. On this trip the air conditioning didn't work. Maintenance found the unit was broken so we were moved to another room, but that AC also didn't seem to be working and we were moved yet again. The manager took time to demonstrate that their AC units actually do work but take at least 5 minutes to kick in, which we proved. Although the other units were defective we did get it to work in our 3rd room but the experience was very difficult. As a seasoned traveler I've never had this problem. I give the manager and team high marks here for their very personal response. My next trip to Newark will be in the spring and Staybridge remains one of my go-to hotels.
